Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups Week 17: Jarrett Stidham, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, K.J. Osborn and More
If you're still searching for a streaming option for your championship game, these are the guys you should be looking for.
The waiver wire period has come and gone and you may have missed out on the guy you wanted. The waiver wire darlings everyone was clamoring for are long gone and you're still looking to fill out your roster and maybe even your lineup. These are the late waiver wire adds that you should be picking up. Everyone listed is rostered in less than 50% of leagues.
Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups
Quarterbacks
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
Rostered: 24.8%
Carr is coming off a three-TD game in which he threw for 319 yards. This week he has a great matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. He also finally had all his weapons, other than Michael Thomas, last week and will have them again this week. If Carr is available he is a strong streaming option this week.
Jarrett Stidham, Denver Broncos
Rostered: 0%
This one will take a lot of guts, but there is a strong case to be made for Stidham if you are desperate in a SuperFlex league. First and foremost, he will be up against the Los Angeles Chargers, who are absolutely horrendous against the pass. They have allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Last season, Stidham was thrown in a very similar situation, but against a much better 49ers' defense. In that game, he threw for 365 yards and three TDs. He started two games, in the other he threw for 219 yards and a TD against the Chiefs. Perhaps even more interesting is the fact that in both games he played he ran the ball seven times for a total of 84 yards, which gives him a nice floor.
Running Backs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs
Rostered: 18.9%
It looks like Isiah Pacheco will be sidelined this week with a concussion and Jerick McKinnon is on injured reserve. CEH has been excellent for fantasy owners over the past month when Pacheco was off the field. If he is still available, he needs to be picked up and should be started in most situations this week.
Zamir White, Las Vegas Raiders
Rostered: 16%
If White is still sitting out there, he is in the same situation as CEH. The only difference is there is a bit more of a chance that Josh Jacobs returns this week, which would render White useless. However, as of Thursday, Jacobs still hasn't practiced this week. Pick up White and if he's active he should be in your lineup. Over the past two weeks, he has carried the ball 39 times for 214 yards and a TD. Last week he saw 22 carries. He's a must-start if Jacobs is inactive.
Wide Receivers
Demarcus Robinson, Los Angeles Rams
Rostered: 3.5%
Robinson now has at least 44 yards and a TD in four straight games. In Week 14 he had a 10-target game and in Week 16 he caught all six of his targets for 82 yards and a TD. You have to grab him after what he's been consistently doing for a month now in an offense that consistently produces loads of fantasy value. He has come out of nowhere and could end up being a league winner for owners looking for a WR3 to plug in.
K.J. Osborn, Minnesota Vikings
Rostered: 6.2%
Jordan Addison went down on Sunday and Osborn stepped up as the WR2 opposite Justin Jefferson and looked great. He caught five of seven targets for 95 yards and a TD. It looks like Addison's injury will keep him out this week. Assuming Addison is ruled out this week, expect Osborn to see a ton of targets, especially with T.J. Hockenson also gone now.
Tight Ends
Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans
Rostered: 11.6%
Chig has the best matchup this week for a tight end that is most likely on your waivers. He's taking on the Houston Texans, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season. His production has also been up a lot over the past five weeks compared to early in the year which was a disaster. Over the past five weeks, he's seen 27 targets and last week he caught six of seven targets for 63 yards and a TD.
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
Rostered: 13.1%
Johnson also has a great matchup this week against the Bucs, who are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season. He's also seen a surge in fantasy production as of late, catching TDs in back-to-back games with nine targets in those two games that he took for 86 yards. If he's on your waiver wire he should be a sneaky good streaming option.
