Dynasty Fantasy Football Outlooks for Rookie Wide Receivers (Part 3): Jha'Quan Jackson, Jordan Whittington, Ryan Flournoy and More

Discussing the landing spots for rookie wide receivers and how their dynasty league values look now.

The NFL Draft is in the books, meaning we are that much closer to the NFL season and fantasy football!

I thought it would be fun to discuss the landing spots for rookies and how their dynasty value was impacted as a result. We already covered quarterbacks and running backs (which had a part 1 and part 2). Now it’s time to discuss wide receivers.

There were 35 wideouts selected across the seven-round draft, so we’ll release a couple stories for this position as well. This is the third and final story, which will take a look at the sixth- and seventh-round picks..

Jha'Quan Jackson Fantasy Outlook

Jackson was picked by the Titans in round 6. His fantasy outlook looked decent after the draft, but the recent signing of Tyler Boyd likely eliminates any real shot of Jackson making a difference this season.

DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Boyd are now the top receivers in Tennessee, and Jackson likely isn’t among the next three on the depth chart at this point. Jackson could make the team as a returner, but is looking more like a gadget player on offense for the next couple seasons.

After the signing of Boyd, I’d probably drop Jackson below rookie WR30. He’d be a fantasy option this season only if several injuries to Titans’ receivers happened.

Malik Washington and Tahj Washington Fantasy Outlooks

Malik and Tajh Washington are other wideouts that look pretty buried on the depth chart. Malik was a sixth-round pick, while Tahj went in the seventh to the Dolphins.

Miami has Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill and now Odell Beckham to lead the passing game. The Washingtons probably fall behind Braxton Berrios, River Cracraft and others right now too.

Cutting a veteran player could help the Washingtons climb the depth chart, but it’d take a few injuries after that to get either Washington into a decent fantasy situation probably. They should only be on the draft radar of fantasy teams in the deepest of leagues, and even then, they are probably better off as waiver wire targets if they somehow carve out decent roles.

Casey Washington Fantasy Outlook

Washington landed with the Falcons in round 6, but because the team wasted a first-round pick on a backup quarterback over a top-end rookie wideout, Washington might be able to factor into the offense this season.

Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Rondale Moore are the team’s projected starters at receiver right now. Mooney and Moore have underwhelmed, so if Washington plays well in camp and the preseason, he could serve a decent role from the outset of his rookie season.

I’m a bit higher on Washington than others, but even as a dynasty rookie WR30 or so, he’s likely going undrafted in a bunch of leagues. If he does, keep a close eye on him in camp and beat others to the punch if he looks like he might start or play a big role for Atlanta.

Jordan Whittington Fantasy Outlook

Whittington was a sixth-round pick of the Rams. Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson are the projected starters, with Tutu Atwell as a solid No. 4 option.

Whittington likely only gets extended playing time if one of the top four receivers misses time this season, but in the long run could be heavily involved. Robinson and Atwell are free agents after the season, so if Whittington excels as a rookie, he’s likely to start for sure in year two.

After the success Nacua has as a later pick, Whittington will be a popular “sleeper” pick in dynasty leagues this season. I view him as a top-30 rookie wideout for this year and beyond.

Ryan Flournoy Fantasy Outlook

Flournoy was a sixth-round pick of the Cowboys. CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks are the top receiver threats, with Jalen Tolbert as the other projected starter right now.

It wouldn’t surprise many people if Flournoy was able to beat out Tolbert for the starting role. It’s not often that sixth-round picks excel, but playing for the Cowboys and seeing the depth chart ahead of him, Flournoy might be another popular sleeper pick.

He’s another one that appears in my top-30 rookie receivers, but probably will go undrafted outside really deep leagues. Keep tabs on him as the season closes in.
