Buffalo Bills
We’ll begin with the Bills and quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen is arguably the best dynasty quarterback in the league, getting the edge over Patrick Mahomes because of his rushing ability. Going into this season, Allen doesn’t have the best offensive weapons around him, but in time, the organization will eventually surround him with talent again. I’d take Mahomes first, because I think he lasts longer in the league than Allen, but Allen provides more fantasy value for the next couple years at least.
James Cook and Ray Davis are two dynasty options in the Buffalo backfield.
Cook is a top-15 option on most dynasty ranking lists. He’s just 24 years old yet, and looks to have several productive seasons ahead of him still. Cook will always be capped as a fantasy player because of Allen’s rushing ability, but that might extend Cook’s NFL career a couple years.
Davis was a fourth-round pick of the Bills this past offseason. He gives the team another decent option in case Cook were to miss time, but I don’t expect him to hold a big offensive role unless Cook isn’t around. Davis is still worth rostering in dynasties because he’s the No. 2 behind a workhorse back.
Buffalo has revamped its wide receiver room, and now not many good dynasty options remain. Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir are the best options right now.
Coleman has the most upside as a 21-year-old rookie. The second-round pick could become the go-to target for Allen, which obviously could make Coleman a very productive fantasy player for years to come. He’s definitely worth at least stashing for the upcoming season.
Shakir is a holdover from past Buffalo teams. He’s shown flashes of strong play, but behind Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs, never emerged as a weekly fantasy threat. Shakir has that chance in 2024, and he could skyrocket up dynasty lists with a big season.
Dalton Kincaid is one of the better dynasty tight ends in the game. Most have him only behind Sam LaPorta, Trey McBride and Mark Andrews, but I could argue him second behind only LaPorta. The 24-year-old Kincaid should be a sought after commodity in dynasty leagues, and could be a top-five fantasy TE for the next several years.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have several good dynasty options as well, but not to the level of the Bills.
Tua Tagovailoa is a middle-of-the-pack dynasty option right now. He’s got good upside every season in the Dolphins’ offense and has a new four-year deal, so he’ll be there for a while. But because of past injury concerns and being 26 years old, he’s usually ranked around 15th on dynasty lists. He’s a guy I love targeting later in a dynasty startup, or in a trade, especially if he can be your second fantasy QB option.
There’s a few Miami backs to consider in dynasty leagues. De'Von Achane is ranked the highest, while Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright are lower-level options.
Achane flashed incredible upside in his rookie season, but also created some injury concerns for fantasy owners along the way. If he can stay healthy, Achane has a chance to be a top-five fantasy back, but I’m not sold on him, and would prefer not to spend an early pick or pay a ton in a trade to roster him.
Mostert and Wright are pretty close to each other on most dynasty lists, but Wright should move ahead of Mostert in time. Mostert is 32, but showed he had plenty left in the tank last season. He’s an option for contending dynasty teams, but should otherwise be traded away. Wright is a lottery ticket to take a stab on. He should be RB2 in Miami, at worst, after the team moves on from Mostert, and has a ton of upside if Achane can’t stay on the field.
Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are two good dynasty wideout options.
Hill is still a top-10 option despite being 30 years old. His speed is hard to top, and he looks to still have several big seasons ahead of him. Contending teams would benefit most from him being on a roster, while rebuilding teams several years off of title contention should probably flip him for a king’s ransom.
Waddle is often a top-15 dynasty receiver and is just 25. He gets overshadowed by Hill, but has produced in each NFL season he’s played in so far. Even as a No. 2 on his own team, Waddle puts up great numbers, and he should remain a good starting option for several more seasons.
There’s no big-time dynasty assets at the tight end position on the Dolphins roster. Look elsewhere for help there.
New York Jets
The Jets have a mix of dynasty talent and aging veterans.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is obviously a veteran. At 40 years old, he doesn’t have much left in the tank, and is coming off a major injury. He could be rostered and played in deep dynasties or two-QB setups, but should only be by contending teams.
Breece Hall is one of the top dynasty backs in the game. He’s 23 years old, and probably only behind Bijan Robinson among dynasty RBs. He could overtake Robinson if the Jets find a good quarterback after Rodgers, but regardless of who is at QB, Hall looks to be a fantasy option for a long time yet.
Braelon Allen, Israel Abanikanda and Isaiah Davis are all names to keep an eye on if Hall goes down with another major injury. Allen is the one I’d target and stash this season.
Garrett Wilson is the only great dynasty option in the New York WR room right now. Mike Williams and Malachi Corley are depth options, but not high-end guys right now.
Wilson is a top-10 dynasty wideout, and could climb that list if the Jets figure out the QB after Rodgers. He’s only 24 and should star in the NFL for the next several seasons.
Williams has had an injury-plagued career, but at 29, still has a couple decent seasons ahead of him if he can stay healthy. Corley is a rookie and could become the No. 2 option to Wilson in time. Definitely stash the 22-year-old Corley if you can.
The Jets are another team without a good dynasty tight end. Tyler Conklin can be used by contending teams, but at 29 years old, won’t be a fantasy asset for too long.
New England Patriots
New England has added a ton of young talent over the past few seasons, with the biggest name being quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye might not start over Jacoby Brissett all season, but being a top draft pick and at just 22 years old, Maye definitely is the better dynasty option. Maye could shoot way up the dynasty rankings with a big rookie season, and definitely needs to be rostered in all dynasties.
Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson are OK dynasty options, but not elite ones because they are both 26. Stevenson has shown some good things in his career, but injury concerns now have him ranked near 20th on most lists. Gibson has fizzled out a bit after a great start to his career. If the Pats struggle this season (which they most likely will), expect the organization to spend some draft capital on the position soon.
Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker and Demario Douglas are three decent dynasty options at wide receiver. Kendrick Bourne is a depth option because of his age.
Polk was a second-round pick in the most recent draft, so he’s got the most upside. The Patriots need a No. 1 receiver to step up, and he’s probably got the best chance to. Stash him this season and hope he and Maye eventually form an elite connection.
Douglas had a solid rookie season, but with some of the talent added around him, his dynasty stock took a hit. He might be the team’s top receiver for this season, and could form a strong 1-2 punch with Polk for years to come.
Baker is another draft pick (fourth round) from this offseason. I expect him to be on the field a bunch this season, and hopefully he too can earn a role for the coming years.
Whoever excels the most of the three young receivers will be the highest-ranked guy on dynasty lists going into 2025.
Bourne is a starting option for contending teams, but probably doesn’t have a ton of dynasty value otherwise.
There’s no great dynasty options on the Patriots’ roster either. Hunter Henry is a starting option here and there for contending teams, while rookie seventh-round pick Jaheim Bell is a player to keep an eye on.
