Dolphins Lose Tua Tagovailoa Indefinitely

We lost another starting quarterback before even getting to Sunday again this week. In a scary scene, Tua went down with his third diagnosed concussion in three years. It appears that he will miss some time, although, with 13 days to rest it's not impossible that he suits up in Week 3.

We haven't been given any timetable for a return. So right now we are somewhere between he'll playing next week and he's going to retire from football and never play again. I know, not super helpful.

At this point, everything has just been speculation by people in the media and on social media, who for some reason believe they are more qualified to decide how Tua should handle this injury than Tua himself and the doctors who have access to the actual medical information. We are just going to have to wait and see how this plays out.

His absence will prove to be a major hit to the production of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and everyone else on the Miami offense. Whether or not he's sent to the injured reserve before next week's game will be very telling, especially regarding how the Miami Dolphins plan to handle this concussion.

Tee Higgins Accused of Faking Hamstring Injury

Rumors surfaced this week that Higgins could be faking his hamstring injury to avoid playing for the Cincinnati Bengals, who he has been in an ongoing contract dispute with. Higgins demanded a long-term extension or to be traded this offseason and his demands were not met.

He eventually signed his franchise tag and returned to the team. However, he suffered a hamstring injury that cost him Week 1 and is expected to hold him out for Week 2 as well. This has aroused suspicion and the validity of the injury has been brought into question.

Higgins has denied these rumors and stated, “I just don’t understand why they think I’m faking an injury. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

Christian McCaffrey Could be Heading to Injured Reserve

Things have gone from bad to worse for the consensus first-overall pick in fantasy football in 2024. After being a surprise inactive prior to Monday Night Football in Week 1, talk surrounding CMC sounded positive coming out of the San Francisco 49ers' facility this week.

Then came Thursday and what people were dreading became a reality. Reports were that it was McCaffrey's worst day of practice so far and that the team was considering putting him on injured reserve. If he does land on the IR, he will miss at least the four games following his designation.

This is something we warned you about all summer. It's why I had him ranked as the RB3 overall and dropped him behind multiple receivers. His age, previous workload and lingering calf injury were a massive red flag that fantasy owners chose to ignore and shouldn't have. There is a real chance that this could end up being a lost year for CMC and the beginning of the end for him as far as his career as a top running back goes.

Malik Willis will get Start in Green Bay

Jordan Love is not going to be able to suit up in Week 2 after suffering a knee sprain in the opener and Willis will get the start for the Green Bay Packers.

Up to this point in his career, Willis has been atrocious in every opportunity he's been given to play quarterback in the NFL. Currently, he has three career interceptions, zero TD passes and has never managed to throw for 100 yards in a game.

This could get very ugly for both the Packers' offense and the fantasy value of all of his passing options. It's somewhat incredible that Green Bay thought it was a good idea to trade for him and then rely on him to be the starter should anything happen to Love. We are not optimistic about this one.

Chiefs Send Marquise Brown to IR

After missing Week 1, the Kansas City Chiefs have sent Hollywood Brown to the injured reserve, which will force him to be sidelined through at least Week 5. His debut with the team will be delayed and it will be a while before we see what this offense looks like when whole.

This really only impacts Xavier Worthy, who fantasy owners can now be much more confident in for at least another month. Brown could cut into Worthy's workload once he returns, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there in October. He was never going to have much of an impact on Rashee Rice, Travis Kelce or even Patrick Mahomes.
