Fantasy Football Week 7 FantasySP Expert Picks: Raheem Mostert, Davante Adams, George Kittle and More

The experts at FantasySP answer a handful of questions heading into Week 7 of the fantasy football season.

There is only one undefeated team in each conference (Chiefs and Vikings), and there is also just one team apiece with one loss (Texans and Lions). That means a lot of future playoff teams already have two, three, or even four losses, and the muddled middle will take a long time to play out.

The same is true in fantasy football, where most owners currently see their teams with a few losses and a lot of work to do before we reach the final month of the regular season. To help you prepare, Mark Morales-Smith, Morgan Rode and Daniel Hepner convened to answer five questions in advance of Week 7 of the NFL season.

Who is the best streaming quarterback who may be available as a free agent?

Mark: Andy Dalton and Matthew Stafford both jump out, but I’m going to go a different direction. How about Drake Maye against the woeful Jags? He could have a big fantasy day even if it’s a bit of a struggle in real life.

Morgan: I’ll say Daniel Jones. He’s got an average matchup against the Eagles and has been an average or better fantasy quarterback pretty much every game since Week 1. As long as he has Malik Nabers back, I’d be fine starting Jones over a QB with a much tougher matchup.

Daniel: I could actually make a pick if Mark didn’t choose everyone! Dalton and Maye are guys I listed as quarterbacks to start this week, and Maye might be my favorite. Dalton faces a Washington team with a big-time offense and porous defense: Carolina will probably have to throw to catch up and will have the opportunity to rack up yards against a scrambling defense.

Which flex-level running back is primed for a good week?

Mark: Raheem Mostert quietly got a ton of volume last week and looked great. He is a better fit for that offense with Tua Tagovailoa out because De'Von Achane’s size limits his tackle-breaking ability. Without Tua, teams are stacking the box, and Mostert was much more successful in that situation.

Morgan: I’ll say Alexander Mattison. It’s risky because Zamir White could return and create a three-RB committee, but I like the matchup against the Rams and think Mattison could produce a good fantasy score.

Daniel: Tyrone Tracy started the past two weeks while Devin Singletary was out, racking up 179 rushing yards with a touchdown and seven receptions for 58 yards. Singletary is returning this week, but Tracy still figures to be involved and is a more exciting prospect than the middling veteran. The Eagles have allowed the seventh-most yards per rush on the season, so Tracy could still be a flex player both this week and moving forward, maybe overtaking Singletary eventually.

Is there a wide receiver who is set up for failure and should be benched?

Mark: JuJu Smith-Schuster is a popular flex option this week. Unless he’s a stud like Rashee Rice or Tyreek Hill, you never trust a Chiefs’ wideout. It will be Travis Kelce getting the volume, with a different receiver having a decent game from week to week.

Morgan: Khalil Shakir. He’s another flex option this week, but between an injury, a tough matchup against the Titans and Amari Cooper maybe being mixed in, I think Shakir is headed toward a poor fantasy showing.

Daniel: I am skeptical of the impacts that Cooper and Davante Adams will make in their first game with their respective teams. Buffalo faces a Tennessee team that has allowed the least yards per pass attempt, and the Jets take on Pittsburgh, who has stars at all levels of the defense. New situations and tough matchups put Cooper and Adams behind the curve.

How about a tight end you have a strong opinion on one way or the other?

Mark: Noah Fant has quietly been playing well and getting targets. I like what his role is becoming in this new-look Seahawks’ passing attack.

Morgan: I’m all in on Brock Bowers. He’s going to remain a big part of the Raiders’ offense with Adams no longer around, and he’s been trending up of late. I think Bowers could be fantasy TE1 from this point on.

Daniel: Bowers is a weekly starter now, especially with tight ends struggling to make consistent impacts. Mike Gesicki is probably a guy you don’t think of much anymore, and for good reason: Gesicki has played more snaps than teammate Drew Sample just once this season, and rookie Eric All Jr. has been on the field more than Gesicki in all but two games. Rather than just for this week, Gesicki is off the fantasy radar altogether unless injuries change something.

And finally, who will be the fantasy MVP of Week 7?

Mark: Although I think Kyren Williams is the top scorer this week for non-QBs, I’m looking a little deeper when it comes to MVP. My MVP is going to be Washington’s Brian Robinson returning from injury and destroying the Panthers.

Morgan: I’m going with Amon-Ra St. Brown against the Vikings. He’s caught a TD in three straight games, and I think he scores at least once in this pivotal NFC North matchup.

Daniel: Kansas City has been worse against tight ends than any other team in fantasy, and it’s not even close. George Kittle and the 49ers host KC this week, and a game that could turn into a high-scoring affair might produce plenty of targets for the star tight end.
