Top Tacklers
It was another big week for defensive players in the tackle department.
Baltimore’s Roquan Smith, Seattle’s Ernest Jones IV and New Orleans’ Demario Davis all finished with 13 tackles.
Smith finished in double digits for tackles for the sixth time this season, but also left with a hamstring injury. He’d be a massive loss for a Baltimore defense that’s already struggled plenty this season.
Jones was in double figures in tackles for the second time in his three games with the Seahawks. He’s got 81 tackles across nine games this season, and should remain a top-end fantasy IDP option.
Davis had double-digit tackles for a second week in a row - it was the third time this season he was in double figures and he has 79 tackles overall now. He’s a bit of an underrated IDP option, but one who should be started in most leagues.
Miami’s Jordyn Brooks tallied 12 tackles. It was his second straight game with over 10 tackles and third time this season that he’s finished in double figures. With 85 tackles this season, Brooks is another good/great weekly IDP option.
Los Angeles Rams’ Quentin Lake and Christian Rozeboom, Baltimore’s Ar'Darius Washington, Las Vegas’ Robert Spillane, Los Angeles Chargers’ Daiyan Henley all had 11 tackles.
Lake got back in double figures for tackles for the first time since week 3 - he was in double figures in weeks 1-3. With 80 tackles on the season, Lake is a good IDP secondary option.
Rozeboom got back in double digits for tackles, and got there for the fourth time this season. He has 79 tackles overall and is another solid weekly starting option.
Washington got into double digits for tackles for the first time this season. He only has 36 tackles on the season now, so this looks more like a one-game outlier to me. He’s one to add in deeper leagues though in case he keeps things up.
Spillane reached double digits for tackles for the seventh time - he’s only not gotten there three times. With 97 tackles on the season, he needs to be starting in most IDP leagues.
Henley recorded his fourth straight double-digit tackle game. He has five overall this season and 94 tackles overall, which makes him a good weekly IDP option.
Baltimore’s Kyle Hamilton, Atlanta’s Kaden Elliss, Chargers’ Derwin James Jr., Miami’s Anthony Walker Jr., Atlanta’s Jessie Bates III, Tennessee’s Kenneth Murray Jr., Seattle’s Tyrice Knight and Pittsburgh’s Patrick Queen recorded 10 tackles each on Sunday.
Hamilton got back in double figures in tackles - he’s reached the mark in four of the past five games. With 81 tackles and several splash plays to his name, Hamilton is a good weekly IDP option.
Elliss recorded his fifth straight double-digit tackle performance. He has 98 tackles on the season and needs to be starting in most IDP leagues.
James was in double digits for the first time this season - he also had a half-sack on Sunday. He does have 59 tackles on the season, making him at least an option in deeper IDP leagues.
Walker got back in double figures for tackles after missing by one last week. He has 29 tackles over the past three games, which makes him a good IDP option - he should be played in most leagues, not just deep ones.
Bates got into double figures for the first time since week 2 - he also forced a fumble on Sunday. He has 70 tackles and several splash plays this season, making him a good IDP secondary option.
Murray got into double figures for the first time this season. He had a sack on Sunday, which brought his season total to 4.5. With 69 total tackles on the season, along with the sack potential, Murray should be playing in a lot of IDP leagues.
Knight broke out in week 11, tallying more than one tackle for the first time in four weeks. He had some solid tackle numbers from weeks 2-4, so don’t sleep on this week’s performance.
Queen also forced and recovered a fumble on Sunday. He was in double figures for tackles for the second time this season and now has 72 tackles overall. He’s another good weekly starting option.
Sack Leaders
Baltimore’s Odafe Oweh leads the NFL with 2.5 sacks this week. He had five total tackles on Sunday. He has 30 tackles and seven sacks for the season now, giving him some IDP value, in deeper leagues especially.
Minnesota’s Andrew Van Ginkel had two sacks and eight tackles. He’s up to 46 tackles and eight sacks, and with several other splash plays, is one of the better fantasy pass rushers out there.
Indianapolis’ Kwity Paye had seven tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in week 11. He has 5.5 sacks and 27 tackles for the season, which again is enough to make him a decent IDP option in deeper leagues.
Denver’s Nik Bonitto had two sacks and seven tackles on Sunday. He has 32 tackles and nine sacks for the season, making him a very underrated IDP option. Bonitto has a sack in all but three games this season.
Minnesota’s Pat Jones II posted five tackles and two sacks in week 11. He has seven sacks on the season now, but it was his first since week 4. Jones is a risky IDP option with only 28 tackles, but in deeper leagues, I’d be fine still starting him.
Rams’ Braden Fiske had two sacks, three tackles and a forced fumble on Sunday. He bounced back from his worst showing of the season and now has 29 tackles, five sacks and a couple other splash plays this season. Fiske is an up-and-coming IDP option and needs to be started in deeper setups at least.
Injury Roundup
Cleveland’s Denzel Ward left with a chest injury. He has 20 tackles, 17 passes defensed and an interception on the season. Ward plays nearly every snap when he’s healthy, so his absence would hurt the Browns’ defense even more.
Detroit’s Alex Anzalone broke his forearm and will miss 6-8 weeks. He has 56 tackles, a sack and four passes defensed on the season. He will be missed on the Lions’ defense.
Green Bay’s Jaire Alexander has a knee injury, but it’s not believed to be serious. He’s the Packers’ top cornerback, and if he’s banged up or missing in coming games, the matchup for opposing wideouts gets a lot easier.
Jacksonville’s Tyson Campbell has a shoulder injury. He has 31 tackles over six games and was playing just about every snap. If he’s out, the Jaguars’ offense will be even easier to move the ball against.
Chargers’ Cam Hart left with a concussion. He has 30 tackles, a half sack, four passes defensed and a forced fumble this season, and has been playing just about every defensive snap. If he’s out, the Chargers’ defense might be a touch easier to move the ball against.
Pittsburgh’s Joey Porter Jr. left with a shin contusion. He’s been playing just about every snap this season and has 39 tackles, five passes defensed and a pick. His absence would definitely hurt the Steelers’ defense.
San Francisco’s Nick Bosa left with a hip injury. Everyone knows he’s one of the best pass rushers in the league, and without him, the 49ers’ defense is a bit less intimidating.
Tennessee’s Jack Gibbens broke his ankle on Sunday. He had 37 tackles over the past three games, so with him out, the Titans will need another linebacker to step up - they might instantly be a good IDP starting option given what Gibbens had done of late.
