RT: "We accept that that target is on our back. We know that guys are gonna give us their best shot." @HoustonTexans QB C.J. Stroud caught up with our @AJRoss_TV after a hard-fought Week 1 win https://t.co/KYSGqexIFP

that Nico Collins contract is going to age like fine wine

Rookie S Calen Bullock makes a diving INT at the Texans' 7 to end that Colts' drive. What a play by Bullock.

Texans O line of tackles Laremy Tunsil and Tytus Howard, guards Shaq Mason and Kenyon Green and center Juice Scruggs did an outstanding job of run blocking in the 29-27 victory, a third in a row in Indy.

Laremy Tunsil second false start in first half. Came on third and 2.

You might be asking yourself between sips of beer: Why did the Houston Texans enter halftime without points against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium?
C.J. Stroud spiked the football with five seconds remaining after completing a pass to Dalton Schultz at the Colts’ 31. The Texans were going to send out the field goal unit to take an eight-point lead while getting the ball to begin the third quarter.
Instead, the referee stopped the clock to review the play for an incompletion. It ended up being a catch, but here’s where things get interesting

Calen Bullock was best known for his ball-hawking skills at USC.
He’s making the same plays at the next level for the Houston Texans’ defense.
Bullock recorded his first interception against Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson to halt a scoring drive before halftime. The Colts were driving inside Houston’s red zone after a Richardson 19-yard scramble.

Drafted 75th overall, Bullock has been a standout in practice and training camp. He made multiple interceptions against both C.J. Stroud and Davis Mills, plus improved as a tackler

The Vikings needed to make a splash in free agency after losing Danielle Hunter and DJ Wonnum. Minnesota signed Jonathan Greenard from Houston and drafted Dallas Turner out of Alabama, but on Sunday, former Dolphin Andrew Van Ginkel is making the biggest impact.
Van Ginkel has been a force all game for the Vikings’ defense. Not only did Van Ginkel sack Daniel Jones in the game, but in the third quarter he caught a rocket thrown right in his direction for a pick-six.
The touchdown marks his second career interception returned for a touchdown. The first came in 2020 when current defensive coordinator coached him, Brian Flores

John Metchie III was a standout in the preseason. He won’t be a stud in Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Metchie and running back Cam Akers were ruled inactive for Week 1 as the Houston Texans take on the Indianapolis Colts. Other inactive players for the Texans include linebacker Jamal Hill, defensive back M.J. Stewart and offensive tackle Nick Broeker.
Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT.

The Houston Texans‘ pass rush that received an overhaul in the offseason showed up on 3rd down to get the team off the field.
Defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. was the first of three Texans to get to Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, forcing a punt. It’s the first sack of the season and already matches the one sack from last year’s two meetings with the Colts.

Injury Update | David Long Jr. has a hand injury and is questionable to return.

Stroud's 55-yard pass to Nico Collins had a completion probability of 16.6%, Stroud's most improbable completion his NFL career. Collins had two defenders (Julius Brents and Nick Cross) within one yard when the pass arrived. #HOUvsIND | @HoustonTexans https://t.co/gJYv0fSVLw NextGenStats: The completion was also Stroud's longest by air distance of his career (59.8 yards). Stroud's 2nd-longest pass by air distance also targeted Nico Collins and also came against Colts cornerback Julius Brents as the nearest defender (59.2 yards in Week 18, 2023).

Anthony Richardson has now missed out on two potential long touchdown passes to Adonai Mitchell.

In need of a spark down by nine points in the fourth quarter, Anthony Richardson and the Colts’ passing game came up with another big passing play.
Down 22-13 and facing a first-and-10 just shy of midfield, Richardson took the snap and dropped back. With good protection, he was able to let Dulin’s deep crossing route develop and threw a strike to him.
Dulin caught the ball around the 35 yard line and then did the rest running in for a touchdown.

Ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the Houston Texans, the Indianapolis Colts have listed seven players as in active in order to be at the maximum amount of game-day eligible players, which is 48.
Below are the players that will be inactive for Sunday’s Week 1 matchup:
There are some noteworthy moves here, but let’s start with the obvious. The Colts will be without Josh Downs and Matt Gay today. Downs was ruled out on Friday as he still recovers from a high ankle sprain, while Gay’s status was up in the air, but it became clear that he wouldn’t be playing when the team elevated Spencer Shrader on Saturday. Rookie AD Mitchell will likely see the bulk of the slot opportunities

A huge momentum shift occurred in the third quarter for the Indianapolis Colts.
With about six minutes left in the third quarter, the Texans had a 15-7 lead and faced a third-and-7. On a pass, the Colts defensive front generated immediate pressure and brought Stroud down for their fourth sack of the day.
Houston then brought the punt team on to the field, at which point the momentum took an even bigger turn. Segun Olbui came rushing free off the edge to get his hands on the punt attempt. Trevor Denbow would then recover it at the Texans’ five-yard line
