Huge road win for the #Cardinals and a clutch kick by Chad Ryland, who was signed off the street five days ago. Meanwhile, the #49ers fall to 2-3. pic.x.com/XQFsPTkhXd
James Conner had only 9 rushing yards at halftime. He has 77 and counting after the break
#Cardinals TE Trey McBride (ribs) is officially active vs. the #49ers.
Targets over the last 2 games: Marvin Harrison Jr. - 13 Michael Wilson - 13
Tip (pun intended) your cap on that Purdy INT. Good play from Roy Lopez to get his hand up
Kyzir White remains one of the most underrated players in football. What a W!
The Cardinals brought out an extra offensive lineman for their first snap of jumbo personnel this season. Kyler Murray found a wide open Elijah Higgins in back of the end zone for a TD after drawing the defense towards him on a fake QB run. #AZvsSF | @AZCardinals pic.x.com/h5j7Xn8Ifp

The Arizona Cardinals faced the San Francisco 49ers Sunday afternoon on the road at Levi’s Stadium. They entered as touchdown underdogs having lost two in a row.
What would happen in the game?
Below are live updates during the game and the recap after the game.
The Niners opened the game with the ball but had two incompletions and forced Brock Purdy to scramble for two yards to start the game. With no Garrett Williams, safety Jalen Thompson played in the slot.
HOW'S THAT FOR A START!?!?
49ers LB Fred Warner, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a sprained ankle, is expected to play vs. the Cardinals, per source. pic.x.com/pHp8nD2hub
Tight ends update: 49ers TE George Kittle, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a rib injury, is expected to play vs. the Cardinals, per source. Cardinals TE Trey McBride, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a rib injury, is expected to play vs. the 49ers, per source.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said kicker Jake Moody suffered a high ankle sprain today and is expected to be sidelined multiple weeks. "So we'll get (a kicker) in as fast as possible and get the best guy we can," Shanahan said. "I'm sure it'll have to be for a few weeks or whatever." pic.x.com/M1YAg76P6s
Brock Purdy said he hasn't been aggressive enough in the red zone. He sees that as a potential fix to the 49ers' ongoing issues there: "When we have a matchup and a good look, I've just got to rip it. So I've got to be better and more aggressive down there."
Nick Bosa: "This organization, since Kyle has taken over, has found ways to win .... If you're turning the ball over and you're not making those plays on defense, you're going to lose in the NFL... I haven't loss confidence in this group. We've been through worse."
Brandon Aiyuk is the only 49ers skill player who showed up today. Isn't that ironic? Don't ya think?
Christian McCaffrey's return depends on how he fares in practice, but for now, there is some mild encouragement because his calf and Achilles issues did not flare up after on-field work this past week -- his first on-field work since being placed on IR.
@AdamSchefter: 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey won't return for Thursday night's game in Seattle in Week 6, when he is eligible to come off injured reserve, but there are some reasons for encouragement, per league sources.

The 49ers wilted in the heat today. Arizona handled it much better than them, establishing dominance at the line of the scrimmage in the second half and -- most importantly -- taking care of the football. Jordan Mason's late fumble was SF's most avoidable offensive mistake. The 49ers did not score in the second half
Kyle Juszczyk is taking practice kicks on the sideline. Is he now the 49ers' emergency kicker? We might find out
Deommodore Lenoir deserved a TD ever since getting robbed of one in Seattle in 2022 (roughing the passer nullified a pick 6)
Did Tom Brady just say that the 49ers should play Jauan Jennings over Kyle Juszczyk more often?
Top-notch coverage from Isaac Yiadom against Marvin Harrison Jr. Big-time play on an island
So Mitch Wishnowsky is the emergency kicker. Juszczyk next in line
Ji'Ayir Brown is back in for the 49ers, which is especially good news with the short week at Seattle coming up
Baby steps for Isaac Guerendo, who's such a raw RB prospect. But every successful carry should given him some more confidence to develop decisiveness and eventually showcase that elite athleticism
#49ers inactives Sunday against Arizona: QB Josh Dobbs (third QB) WR Chris Conley (oblique) WR Jacob Cowing (shoulder) LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (calf) OL Ben Bartch CB Darrell Luter Jr. LB Fred Warner (ankle) and TE George Kittle (ribs) are officially ACTIVE.
Ji'Ayir Brown is also questionable with an ankle injury, so the 49ers are down both starting safeties. Malik Mustapha and George Odum for now
49ers' pass-rush get-offs on that drive were very fast. Remember Nick Bosa set a record in that regard last week. This time Leonard Floyd was exploding over the line. I even thought he was offsides. But if SF stops the run game, they'll be in a great spot
It's a wrist injury for Talanoa Hufanga, who's been replaced by Malik Mustapha for the time being
Ronnie Bell probably will be. Pretty sure this won't make you happier
@BrianNiners46: @LombardiHimself Please don't tell me Trent Taylor is going to be our 4th receiver on offense today
RT: 49ers injury update: S Talanoa Hufanga (wrist) is OUT.
The 49ers are running right more often -- and with greater efficiency -- than they are running left. Which is huge. I covered that this week. There's another massive run right from Jordan Mason
@LombardiHimself: New and big: 49ers have run to the right -- a past weakness -- more often than they've run to the left. And they've shot up from 4.1 to 5.7 YPC on such runs. Big credit to rookie Dominick Puni and Colton McKivitz's strides as a run blocker.

With Jacob Cowing out, would expect #49ers to use Trent Taylor -- elevated from the practice squad on Saturday -- to handle punt return duties today.
Trent Taylor is indeed back to handle punt return.
#49ers starting offense: QB Brock Purdy RB Jordan Mason FB Kyle Juszczyk WR Brandon Aiyuk WR Deebo Samuel TE George Kittle LT Trent Williams LG Aaron Banks C Jake Brendel RG Dominick Puni RT Colton McKivitz
The San Francisco 49ers got good news on a couple of key injuries ahead of their Week 5 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
Linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle are both officially active after being listed as questionable on the injury report Friday.
Kittle suffered an injury to his ribs in the 49ers’ Week 4 victory over the Patriots. Warner hurt his ankle in the same game.
Here’s who won’t suit up for San Francisco:
QB Joshua Dobbs (QB3)OL Ben BartchWR Jacob Cowing (shoulder)WR Chris Conley (oblique)LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (calf)CB Darrell Luter Jr
For the first month of the season, the San Franciso 49ers’ special teams unit has struggled. Whether it’s a blocked punt, a successful fake punt from the opponent or soft coverage on returns, special teams have hurt the 49ers at times to start the 2024 campaign.
However, Sunday in Santa Clara against the Arizona Cardinals was a different story. With the Cardinals driving to set up a field goal attempt in the second quarter of Week 5, the special teams unit delivered.
Defensive tackle Jordan Elliott got up in the air to block a 44-yard field goal. Once Elliott got a hand on the ball, Deommodore Lenior did the rest, scooping the ball up for a long touchdown return
