Trevor Megill | Fantasy Outlook

High-leverage setup man Trevor Megill offers excellent hold and strikeout potential for the first-place Brewers.

Trevor Megill has been highly effective over the last 30 days, recording a 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts across 10 innings of work. The first-place Brewers, currently sitting at 40-23 in the NL Central, have relied on him heavily as their primary setup option. With Milwaukee's bullpen currently missing several arms like DL Hall and Jared Koenig due to injuries, Megill's high-leverage role in front of closer Abner Uribe is fully secure.

While Megill's season-to-date 4.70 ERA looks unappealing, his excellent 1.13 WHIP and 11.35 K/9 rate tell a more promising story. Our models project him to settle in around a much sharper 3.38 ERA and 1.17 WHIP for the rest of the season. His dominant velocity and outstanding strikeout-to-walk ratio suggest his recent hot streak is highly sustainable rather than a fluke.

This week, the Brewers play six games, split between a road series against the Athletics and a home set against the Phillies. Facing struggling opposing pitchers like Jack Perkins and Andrew Painter should yield late-inning leads for the Brewers' bullpen.
