Fanduel Sportsbook Review

Will Desvallees Feb 23rd 12:53 PM EST.

FanDuel Sportsbook is one of the top sportsbooks available to users in states in which sports betting has been legalized. The ability to cash out and see the live scores of each game change at the same speed, if not faster than the live updates offered by ESPN and their counterparts, are features of FanDuel Sportsbook that are unavailable elsewhere.

Legality Of FanDuel Sportsbook In The States

FanDuel Sportsbook is now live online in 14 states. The company has been aggressively inking partnerships with casinos across the country to offer online sports betting, including large states such as New York. Last Summer, FanDuel reached an agreement with the Mohegan tribe to operate in Connecticut. The list below will continue to grow as more states legalize and develop their industries.

Bonuses & Promos (4 Stars)

Like many of the other sportsbooks that recently opened in New York, FanDuel has offered its new users hundreds of dollars in giveaways to use on their website. Most recently, they offered new users 56:1 odds for betting $5 on the winner of Super Bowl LVI. If first-time users placed $5 on the Los Angeles Rams to win the big game using this promotion, they would have $280 in their FanDuel account.

Following the Super Bowl, FanDuel returned to offering a $1,000 risk-free bet. That said, that’s not the best offer in the world when it comes to first-time sports betting users. However, if you are a seasoned sports bettor or have a large bankroll, FanDuel will credit your first bet slip up to $1,000 if you lose. Say you bet $100 and win, you will see a promotional bonus of $100 in your account. If you lose, you will receive a credit of $100 in your account within 72 hours. You have no risk on your first bet, guaranteed.

Place your $1,000 risk-free bet today on FanDuel Sportsbook! Eligible to new users only!

Available in: AZ, CO, CT, IA, IL, IN, LA, MI, NJ, NY, PA, TN, VA, WV

There have also been weekly promotions that allow users to place risk-free bets up to $10 for Same Game Parlays (SGP), a feature FanDuel wants its users to keep using. One of their promotions I have used multiple times has been their weekly $10 SGP insurance for NBA TNT Thursdays. The parlay must have three legs or more, and be for one of the two televised games featured on TNT Thursday nights for the rest of the season. However, DraftKings offers more of these offers consistently. I have never logged into the DraftKings Sportsbook and have not seen a promotion. While I have used many of the promotions FanDuel has offered, they do not offer the same frequency of promotions such as SGP insurances or risk-free bets up to $20-$25 that other sportsbooks may. Nonetheless, FanDuel offers a fair share of promotions and has an exclusive partnership with the NBA on TNT. For the rest of the NBA season at the very least, basketball fans should take advantage of FanDuel’s NBA Thursday promotions.

FanDuel Sportsbook hands out free bets regularly but they typically have low maximum bet limits, making these promos less appealing. For example, if you bet $20 on a football parlay with three or more legs, you will be given a $10 free bet as a reward. This promo is available for NFL games and college football. A promo that runs throughout the MLB season is “Dinger Tuesdays.” You can place a $25 bet on a player to hit a home run, and you will then get a $5 free bet for every home run scored in the game, even if your chosen player does not hit one.

You can even get money for referring a friend, though that’s no different than any other sportsbook. All you need to do is invite friends using your exclusive referral link. Once your friend signs up through the link, creates an account, and deposits and wagers at least $10, both you and your friend will unlock a $50 bonus. Pretty easy. The referral credit will be paid out in 72 hours and you can make 10 referrals for a total of $500 credit!

Boosted odds for bets on featured sporting events are also an exclusive feature of Fanduel Sportsbook. Users will have the chance to place bets with odds that are simply increased for promotional reasons, only for bettors to take advantage of. They are frequently available for users to take. For instance, during the NFL playoffs, I took a PMI Super Boost prop Fanduel offered for the Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship game. The bet was for +500 for Cooper Kupp and Deebo Samuel to both get a touchdown and for Matthew Stafford to pass for 250+ yards.

The odds for this prop without the boost were between +350 and +400, meaning that this is just a promotional bonus offered by Fanduel that you can take advantage of. This one hit luckily. They want more people to bet on their platforms. But boosted odds only benefit the user, especially if it is for an event or sport of their liking. The boosts are often available once a week for most sports, meaning that users can take advantage of this perk regularly. The boosted odds often add +100 to +150 to the odds of the original bet. This is simply a fantastic deal and not one you can find elsewhere.

Mobile App & Website (4 Stars)

FanDuel’s mobile app and website are very accessible. I find their mobile app to specifically have my favorite interface of all the sportsbooks. One of the main features their website offers is the ability for bettors to cash out of live bets. While this may be an option on other sportsbooks, FanDuel offers the best money-back to its bettors in cases where their bets would be losses with Caesars Sportsbook. The interface of FanDuel Sportsbook makes this feature easily accessible to users in live-time. I can’t tell you the number of times I placed $10 and it started looking bad; FanDuel gives you the option to cash out. Instead of losing all $10, maybe I'd lose $5 with only one quarter left to go. No sportsbooks are required to offer this feature. The green colors in bold offer the user the ability to cut their losses. This is incredibly important as it empowers the player. The website and mobile application have a nice interface that presents all the options a bettor has without trying to hide any.

Player features include an account balance which calculates your total money in bets place, winning bets and your net balance. I frequently check my net balance to make sure I slow down when I see that the net has gone down for a while. This is a great and very easy way for players to check in with themselves and makes sure they are betting responsibly.

One of the only issues with their application I've dealt with a few times is a slight location glitch. At least from my iPhone, there have been many times where the application notified me that my “location could not be verified." This glitch makes no sense as I typically do not move much when I am placing bets. I could place a bet and 10 minutes later without moving the application I cannot verify my location. This can be problematic, especially in situations where you are placing live waggers. Without a verified location, cashing out is impossible. This glitch is a problem, especially for bettors who look to place live wagers and opt to cash out a lot. This is one of the main drawbacks of the mobile app specifically. Nonetheless, FanDuel is certainly aware of this issue and will address it soon.

Registering, Depositing, Withdrawing (4 Stars)

We haven’t heard of significant issues registering, depositing, or withdrawing at FanDuel. They recently updated their organization so users can have just one wallet for the sportsbook, casino, and DFS products, which is a big deal for customers. DraftKings did the same thing and users seem to love it!

Registering is quick and so is getting verified. Withdrawing and adding money to your account is almost too easy. Once you are approved and can finally deposit money into your account, the user will have the credit card or bank account they made their first deposit registered with. From there, you can easily find where to withdraw and deposit money, with a single click. This is why I say it is almost too easy. One-click and you can deposit whatever you want with that credit card or bank account you made your first deposit with. To that extent, one could consider that to be a little unsafe default. Regarding withdrawals, they enter your bank account within a business day or two and I have never had issues with them. Even when I had my first big fantasy win with them back in February 2020, I withdrew around $600 of winnings and was so excited to see it in my account. It arrived in less than 48 hours. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait longer for any earnings I’ve withdrawn to reach my bank account.

Betting Options (4 Stars)

FanDuel Sportsbook offers a variety of different bets (which seem to be fair) in just about every single sport imaginable. They have teasers, futures, props, parlays, round robins, really any type of bet you can think of. Although DraftKings and Bet MGM are quick to provide several prop bets, FanDuel challenges DraftKings to be first to the market in the United States on some NFL props, college football futures, and golf matchups.

Fantasy SP has compared FanDuel’s pricing with two dozen sportsbooks operating online nationwide and has found that it ranks consistently among the best (lowest) pricing for both straight bets, moneylines, futures, and especially props. They’re not always posting the best or lowest vig across all categories, but usually right there.

As for pricing, on pregame sides, it’s usually industry-standard 20 cents (-110 both ways) for basketball and football spreads, with competitive run line and puck line pricing for baseball and hockey, respectively. Some U.S. sportsbooks have offered “reduced juice” -105 lines while others have consistently offered inferior pricing, often 25 or 30 cents on spread bets for major sports, or even worse in non-competitive markets such as Montana, Oregon, and Washington D.C.

FanDuel is also near the top of the pack for moneyline pricing. Following extensive usage, we have observed equal or better prices on money lines at FanDuel compared with some of the competition. In some cases we’ve even observed better pricing on the same game for both the underdog and favorite (such as +135/-160 versus +125/-165), meaning whichever side you’re betting, you’re better off placing the wager on FanDuel. This is not always the case; the overall point is that the pricing on FanDuel is top-tier for the market.

And before we leave that, it’s especially true for in-game wagering – where the vig across the market is often a little bit higher. We typically have seen FanDuel stay at around 20 or 25-cent lines on live wagering, while some competitors may go as high as 35 or 50-cents on spread bets, with correspondingly less appealing prices on moneylines as compared with FanDuel.

Pros:

  • FanDuel Sportsbook often offers big promotions for big sporting events that are unmatched, similar to their 56:1 odds Super Bowl promo.
  • Fair odds across the table.
  • Significant offerings across markets and bet types.
  • Low minimum bet requirement.
  • Live streaming or races.
  • Trustworthy brand.
  • Empowers the bettor more than its competitors

Cons:

  • The current promo isn’t as good as some other sportsbooks.
  • No customer rewards or loyalty program.
  • Promotions are expensive for smaller bankrolls.
  • Geolocation on desktop subject to glitches.
  • Withdrawal options are limited.

Conclusion:

FanDuel Sportsbook is one of the best in the industry. One of the main ways they stick out in comparison to the competition is that they empower the players. Bettors on FanDuel have an extravagant amount of betting options in addition
