Cardinals' Marquise Brown Fantasy Football Trade Value | Should You Trade for Brown?

Every fantasy owner is looking for high-usage players that they can buy low. Arizona Cardinals’ Marquise Brown might be just the guy you’re looking for.

We’ll dive into what makes Brown a good trade target, analyzing his targets and usage in his offense before exploring some possible trades for the wideout. Let’s dive in.

Brown’s Usage and Stats

Brown sort of slips under the radar being on a poor Cardinals’ team, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a solid fantasy asset.

For the season, Brown leads Arizona in targets (53), receptions (29), receiving yards (334), receiving touchdowns (3), red zone receptions (4) and targets (7) and overall snaps played (358). Of course, that has him leading the team in fantasy points (54) too.

Let’s break that down by game, in case you are worried most of the stats were racked up in a game.

The thing that catches my eye immediately is his targets. He’s been targeted at least five times in every game, and had double-digit targets the past three weeks. Unless Brown is traded, he’s likely going to continue to rack up the targets as the Cardinals are playing from behind a lot. Adding in that starting running back James Conner is now out for a few weeks, and Brown will continue to be heavily involved.

You’d like to see Brown’s catch percentage jump up, but he’s still made at least three catches in every contest. He’s had over four grabs in the past five weeks.

He’s only had two games in which he didn’t reach 35 passing yards, week 1 and week 6. Every other week, Brown has over 50 receiving yards. He added a 29-yard rush in week 1, so he’s got just one game in which he didn’t go over 50 total yards.

His three touchdown receptions came in three different games, so he didn’t just take advantage of one bad defense.

Brown’s catch percentage, yards per target and receptions per game are down from past years, but his yards per reception are up, and he’s on pace to set a new career high in touchdowns.

Should You Trade for Brown?

Seeing Brown’s overall and weekly stats, especially the targets, makes him a player I’d absolutely want to trade for. The best part about it is that Brown shouldn’t cost too much, mostly because he isn’t a player that racks up a ton of catches, touchdowns or 100-yard receiving games.

Our player ratings currently have Brown as the 35th-ranked receiver. That puts him around Tennessee Titans’ DeAndre Hopkins, Las Vegas Raiders’ Jakobi Meyers, Denver Broncos’ Courtland Sutton and Buffalo Bills’ Gabe Davis. There’s some decent fantasy receivers in that group, but Brown’s targets are on pace with guys like New York Jets’ Garrett Wilson, New Orleans Saints’ Chris Olave and Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown, all of which are ranked inside the top 12 at the position.

Brown’s 29 receptions puts him around Meyers, Saints’ Michael Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals’ Tyler Boyd, Houston Texans’ Nico Collins, Washington Commanders’ Terry McLaurin and Philadelphia Eagles’ DeVonta Smith. His yardage is also right around what Meyers, Thomas and Smith have produced. His fantasy points are near the marks of Davis, Meyers and Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb.

I’m not saying offering up all of these players are wise moves, I’m simply giving you a reference for what Brown has accomplished so far and what his worth might be. If you own one of those players and are unhappy with inconsistent play, maybe try offering them for Brown and see what happens.

If you don’t have enough receivers where you feel comfortable swapping one for Brown, other quarterbacks near Brown in the ratings are Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence, Detroit Lions Jared Goff and San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy. Brown doesn’t have many running backs near him, but Carolina Panthers’ Miles Sanders, Cardinals’ Conner and Denver Broncos’ Javonte Williams are in the same ballpark. There aren't many tight ends near Brown either, but Lions’ Sam LaPorta, 49ers’ George Kittle and Jaguars’ Evan Engram are somewhat close.

Check out the ratings and see what kind of deal you can come up with. Happy trading!
