Week 9 QB and TE Waiver Adds: Will Levis, Trey McBride, Taysom Hill, and More!
Happy Monday! I'm not sure how, but we're done with more than half of the fantasy football regular season. Unless you're sitting at 1-7 or 0-8, you still have a chance to get back in the game -- or expland your lead in the standings. And a big part of making up some ground is making sure you make the right waiver moves.
With running backs and wide receivers coming in a separate article, let's take a look at the quarterbacks and tight ends you should be scooping off the waiver wire for Week 9.

Quarterback
(ownership percentages are based on ESPN leagues)
Will Levis, Tennessee Titans (1.0 percent)
After sitting for the first seven weeks of the season, the 2023 draft pick lit up the scoreboard for the Titans in throwing for 238 yards and four touchdowns. While Levis may not hold onto the Titans' job all season, he's in line to start on Thursday night against Pittsburgh and could (should?) end up being Tennessee's starter for the rest of the year if they fall out of the playoff picture. Levis is raw, but he has a ton of upside -- especially for fantasy purposes -- and should be grabbed in deeper leagues.
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals (31.8 percent)
Murray falls a little above our typical 25 percent rule, but he's good enough that he's worth mentioning just in case he's available in your league. While he'll miss Week 9 (which means you'll have to go without him for at least another week), Murray has top-10 fantasy quarterback upside. There's always a chance that the Cardinals will decide to go full-on tank and hold Murray out for the rest of the year, but he's a good speculative add this week just in case.
Nick Mullens/Jaren Hall, Minnesota Vikings (0.0 percent)
We're digging really deep here, but one of these guys will likely be the Vikings' starting quarterback for the rest of the year so we can't just ignore them. Hall looks to be in line to start next week with Mullens on IR until Week 10 barring some sort of trade (Mac Jones, anyone?). I think Mullens is the guy to grab as more of a long-term option -- especially if Justin Jefferson works his way back soon -- as the Vikings are still in the playoff picture and are unlikely to turn things over to a rookie right now.
Tight End
(ownership percentages are based on ESPN leagues)
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals (7.8 percent)
Welcome to this week's top QB/TE waiver priority. With Zach Ertz on IR for at least four weeks, McBride saw a whopping FOURTEEN targets on Sunday and turned those opportunities into 10 catches for 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. While I don't think we'll see that type of production every week, McBride needs to be added wherever you can find him as he sets up nicely as a TE1 for at least the next 3 weeks.
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (14.7 percent)
Hill still isn't seeing a ton of volume, but he saw at least eight touches for the third straight on Sunday and responded with his third straight TE1 performance. Though he was only targeted once in the passing game, the Saints gave Hill nine carries and he was able to put up 63 rushing yards and find the end zone twice. While Hill is always a risky start, he's played his way into being a top-12 tight end and is worth adding considering the lack of reliable tight end options out there.
Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans (17.3 percent)
Okonkwo has been disappointing this season in comparison to preseason expectations, but it's worth taking a flier on him to see if a quarterback change for the Titans will switch things up a bit. Levis targeted Okonkwo six teams in Week 8 -- his second-highest target total of the season -- and the tight end also saw his first carry of the year. While he only put up four catches for 23 yards, the targets are promising and should put him on the waiver radar in deeper fantasy leagues.
