Bengals vs. Steelers
Jake Browning Prop Bets
Browning has an average line of 240.5 passing yards and 1.5 touchdowns going into week 16.
The new Cincy starter has topped 241 yards in three of his four games started. He’s thrown for two scores on two occasions.
Browning faced the Steelers in his first start in late November. He went for 227 yards and one passing touchdown.
Browning also won’t have Ja’Marr Chase to throw to, as the star receiver is out with a shoulder injury. Chase caught a late TD from Browning the last time the teams met.
Browning is 4-0 against his passing yards line this season (using Draftkings as the operator, which I will do for the remainder of this article). He is 3-1 in the passing TD stat.
Verdict: Browning has been a fun story this season, but without Chase, I expect the Bengals to rely more on the run game in the red zone. I see Browning going over 240.5 passing yards, but having under 1.5 passing touchdowns.
Tee Higgins Prop Bets
With Chase out, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd will function as the top wideouts. Coming off a strong game last week, let’s take a look at Higgins.
Higgins has average lines of 4.5 receptions and 60.5 receiving yards.
Higgins has five or more catches in just three contests this season. He’s been at or over 61 receiving yards on five occasions.
He tallied four grabs for 61 yards and two scores last week. Higgins didn’t play in the team’s first matchup.
Higgins is 4-6 against his reception line and 5-5 against the receiving yard line this season.
Verdict: With Chase out, Higgins should be pretty heavily involved. It’s always tricky betting on receiving yard lines, but I like Higgins’ chances. Give me over 4.5 receptions and 60.5 receiving yards.
Najee Harris Prop Bets
Harris has an average line of 62.5 total rushing and receiving yards going into week 16.
Harris has reached 63 scrimmage yards on seven occasions this season, but hasn’t met the mark in back-to-back showings, which coincides with Kenny Pickett being out, which he will be again this week.
The last time the teams met, Harris finished with 99 scrimmage yards, and it all came on the ground. Harris could get more than 15 touches this week as the Steelers look to lessen the burden on starting QB Mason Rudeolph.
Harris has hit the over in total rushing and receiving yards seven times, and not met it six times.
The Bengals’ defense allows opposing backs to average 92.9 rushing yards and 26.6 receiving yards.
Verdict: I like Harris to bounce back from a couple of down weeks and deliver another big showing against the Bengals, even though he’ll split the workload with Jaylen Warren. Give me over 62.5 total rushing and receiving yards for Warren.
Diontae Johnson Prop Bets
Johnson has average lines of 45.5 receiving yards and 4.5 receptions for week 16.
Johnson has five or more catches just three times this season, but has 46 or more yards in all but three of his 10 games played.
The Steelers’ wideout had 50 receiving yards on four grabs the last time the teams met.
Johnson is 4-5 against his reception line and 5-5 against his receiving yards line this season.
The Bengals’ defense allows an average of 11.6 receptions for 170.9 yards to opposing receivers.
Verdict: It’s hard to trust the Steelers’ passing game right now, but Johnson has topped his receiving yard line in the last two weeks, so give me the over there. He hasn’t had over four catches since early November, and I think that continues this week, so I’ll take the under there.
Bills vs. Chargers
Josh Allen Prop Bets
Allen has average lines of 248.5 passing yards and 1.5 passing touchdowns for week 16.
Allen has eclipsed that passing yard line eight times across 14 games played. He’s had two or more passing TDs in eight games.
What might give Allen bettors pause is that the QB went for just 94 passing yards and a score last week. The Bills ran all over a talented Dallas Cowboys’ defense, and the Chargers’ defense struggles mightily in stopping the run, so there’s a chance that happens again this week and Allen is held relatively in check.
Allen is 8-6 against the passing TD line and 7-7 against the passing yard line this season.
Verdict: I see the Bills rolling in this contest, and Allen having maybe his best performance of the season. I think he’ll play long enough to hit the over on both lines.
James Cook Prop Bets
Cook has an average line of 107.5 total rushing and receiving yards for week 16.
It’s a huge number, but he’s also coming off a game in which he had over 200 total yards. The Chargers’ defense allows an average of 90.4 rushing yards and 44.1 receiving yards to opposing backs.
Cook has reached that line five times this season, and missed it by less than 10 yards an additional three times.
For the season, Cook is 9-5 against this line. He’s hit the over five straight weeks.
Verdict: I like Cook to keep rolling this week, so give me over 107.5 total rushing and receiving yards.
Joshua Palmer Prop Bets
Palmer has average lines of 61.5 receiving yards and 3.5 receptions for week 16.
Palmer returned from the injured reserve list last week and caught all four of his targets for 113 yards. Palmer has four or more catches in half of his eight games played this season. He’s been over his receiving yard line four times, and missed it by 2 yards on another occasion.
There should be plenty of opportunities for Palmer in the passing game with Keenan Allen out for another game. The matchup with the Bills is tough though, as their defense allows an average of 11.6 receptions for 130.1 yards.
Palmer has hit the over on his receiving yards line five times in eight weeks, while going 4-3 against his reception line.
Verdict: The Chargers’ passing game is tough to trust with Easton Stick at quarterback, but I still like Palmer’s outlook this week. Give me over 61.5 receiving yards and 3.5 receptions.
Austin Ekeler Prop Bets
Ekeler has an average line of 80.5 total rushing and receiving yards for week 16.
He’s hit that mark just four times this season, and is coming off a game in which he only had 38 total yards.
The Bills’ defense allows an average of 83.9 rushing yards and 42.6 receiving yards to opposing RBs.
The Chargers fired Brandon Staley after the team’s most recent game, so it remains to be seen how the backfield touches get distributed for the coming week.
Verdict: Ekeler could dominate the touches, but I’d guess the Chargers instead continue with their three-RB committee. With that in mind, I’m taking under 80.5 total rushing and receiving yards for Ekeler.
