Fantasy Football Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups: Krys Barnes, Javon Bullard, Dante Fowler Jr. and More
These are the IDP options you should be targeting on your waiver wire for this week.
Linebackers
Krys Barnes, Arizona Cardinals
Kyzir White was forced from the game with a knee injury in Week 6 and is in danger of missing additional time. When White went out, Barnes stepped into an every-down role and would presumably maintain that role moving forward should White miss time.
Barnes played well in White's absence, making nine tackles (eight solo) to lead the team. He should be a solid spot start if White misses time.
Neville Hewitt, Houston Texans
This is a tricky one because there are a lot of moving parts. Azeez Al-Shaair was forced from last week's game with a knee injury. He tried to return but was ultimately ruled out.
When he was gone, Hewitt stepped into his every-down role. However, Christian Harris is also looming on the injured reserve and his return would throw a wet blanket on Hewitt as well.
With that said, Henry To'oto'o is also in the concussion protocol, and if he misses time and Harris returns but Al-Shaair is out, then Hewitt could still be an option.
Nate Landman, Atlanta Falcons
Landman returned from injured reserve into a starting role on Sunday because Troy Andersen did not play. He ended up having a great game and leading the team with eight tackles (four solo). If Andersen misses another game, he's a great start, however, we aren't ready to just write him off if Andersen returns.
Ventrell Miller, Jacksonville Jaguars
Miller looks to be the main beneficiary of Foyesade Oluokun landing on injured reserve. He went off in Week 6 piling up a team-best 10 tackles (eight solo). Most projected Chad Muma as the linebacker to add, but Miller looks to be the man until Oluokun returns.
Divine Deablo, Las Vegas Raiders
Deablo returned from injury this week and made an immediate impact. He made six tackles, with a sack and two tackles for a loss. More importantly, he returned to the team and played a season-high 93% of the defensive snaps. Of all the linebackers listed here, he's the one whose value doesn't hinge on another player being injured.
Defensive Backs
Javon Bullard, Green Bay Packers
The Packers have moved Bullard from safety to nickel corner and he's been excellent. In those two games, he's made 16 total tackles (12 solo). Unfortunately, it's unlikely he is CB-eligible in leagues where you have to start corners, but he is still a strong option at safety.
Tyler Nubin, New York Giants
Nubin has been outstanding over the stretch of the last three games. Over that stretch, he's made 26 tackles (18 solo) while adding two fumbles (one FF, one FR). If he continues on this pace, he'll be a weekly must-start safety option and should already be viewed as a DB2 in all leagues.
Rodney McLeod, Cleveland Browns
As long as Grant Delpit continues to miss time, McLeod should continue to have value. Delpit is dealing with a concussion, which can be unpredictable, so we aren't sure when he'll return. It could be this week or it may not be for a few weeks.
Over the past two games, McLeod has made 15 tackles (13 solo), including eight solo tackles in Week 6. If you do decide to pick up McLeod this week, be sure to monitor Delpit's availability throughout the week.
Marcus Maye, Miami Dolphins
We usually don't like to put the same players in this article two weeks in a row, although, almost everyone we listed last week went off this week. However, Maye was listed when heading into a bye week, so we felt it necessary to bring his name up again.
With Jevon Holland out for what could be the rest of the season, Maye is looking at an every-down role and has proven he can be a productive fantasy asset in the past.
Defensive Line
Dante Fowler Jr., Washington Commanders
Fowler is now going off a second-straight impressive game. He went off in Week 6, dragging down the quarterback twice for two sacks while making four solo tackles and three tackles for a loss. As of late, he has seen a resurgence and looks to be a strong waiver wire option if you need to plug someone into your DE or DL slot.
Azeez Ojulari, New York Giants
With Kavon Thibodeaux now on injured reserve, Ojulari is making the most of his major opportunity. He stepped in this week into a much larger role and immediately made his presence felt with four solo tackles and two sacks. We saw him flash as a rookie and hopefully, this is a sign of things to come for him moving forward for the rest of this season.
