One-Hit Wonders or Here to Stay? Analyzing Week 11 Breakout Players: Jauan Jennings, Taysom Hill, Javonte Williams, Anthony Richardson and More

Discussing fantasy football players who excelled in week 11 and then determining if more big games are coming or if it was a one-week blip.

With week 11 of the NFL regular season in the books, it’s time for a couple final recaps of the action that took place.

Here, we’ll continue the one-week wonder or here to stay series, where we’ll identify fantasy standouts from the previous week of play and then determine if they are here to stay or just a one-hit wonder. Here’s last week’s story. Check back soon for the panic meter series.

Wide Receivers

Jerry Jeudy and Jauan Jennings are the two receivers we’ll hit on this week.

Jeudy had 142 yards and a touchdown on six receptions and 11 targets in week 11. It was his first game over 100 yards and just his second score this season (and first since week 1).

While those couple facts might make it seem like Jeudy was a one-week wonder, he’s actually been over 70 yards in three straight games, and I think that kind of production is here to stay. Jeudy has 18 catches, 30 targets and 294 yards over that span.

The Browns are likely going to be trailing a lot for the remaining games of the season, which bodes well for Jeudy’s fantasy outlook. Having Jameis Winston at quarterback also helps, as he’s not afraid to sling the ball around.

It’s not the best wideout strength of schedule ahead, but there’s enough favorable matchups to have him finish as a weekly fantasy starter. I’d be pretty confident playing Jeudy in most matchups the remainder of the season.

Jennings had 91 yards and a touchdown on 10 catches and 11 targets in week 11. He returned to the field after an injury in week 10 and had 93 yards on seven grabs and 11 targets.

So I definitely think Jennings is here to stay, but also wouldn’t expect those kinds of target numbers every week. George Kittle was out in week 11, and with Christian McCaffrey back and Deebo Samuel Sr. still around, there’s a lot of mouths to feed.

He’s a good flex-level starting option in standard leagues, and with more favorable matchups ahead, Jennings should continue putting up good/great fantasy totals. I think he deserves to be in just about everyone’s starting lineup in week 12 after what he’s done the past two weeks.

Tight Ends

Taysom Hill and Jonnu Smith are the tight ends worth discussing after week 11.

I feel like all I’ve done this week is talk about Hill, yet his statline still seems fake. He rushed for 138 yards and three scores on seven carries and added 50 receiving yards on eight grabs and 10 targets. Hill also was 1-of-2 as a passer for 18 yards. His negatives were an interception and lost fumble, but that barely made a dent in his monster fantasy showing.

It was easily the most touches Hill has gotten in a game this season, which has been hampered by several injuries. New Orleans is missing a bunch of key playmakers, so there’s a need for Hill to step up, and he has when given his opportunities.

I wouldn’t expect any more showings like week 11, but I definitely think Hill is a weekly starting option, which means he’s here to stay. He should be rostered in most leagues going into week 12, and starting in a good deal of them too.

Smith went for 101 yards and two scores on six catches and eight targets this past week. It was his first game over 100 yards this season, and just his second and third touchdowns.

He’s only got three other games over 50 receiving yards. Smith has been targeted at least four times in each of the past six games (with six or more in all but one of those games), and has 45 or more yards in five of those contests.

The only problem for Smith is his schedule ahead - it’s the second hardest in the entire NFL. He hasn’t faced many tough defenses this year, and the few games he has, Smith has struggled to produce.

I’m not convinced that Smith is here to stay, and think he’s just a streaming option against favorable defensive matchups at this point. At a weak fantasy TE spot, he’ll be added and started after his week 11 showing, but I’d temper my expectations.

Running Backs

Most of the top fantasy backs were well-known names. We got to drop outside the top-10 PPR finishers to get to Javonte Williams and Austin Ekeler.

Williams had 59 rushing yards and a score on nine carries in week 11. He added 28 yards on four catches and five targets. It was a nice bounceback game for Williams, who only had three touches and seven yards in the previous game.

The biggest thing with Williams’ performance to note was his snap count. He played 32 offensive snaps, which was just 52% of the team’s total, but also well ahead of Audric Estime (14 snaps) and Jaleel McLaughlin (nine snaps). It looked like Estime was the team’s top back in week 10, but Williams looked like the clear leader this week.

It’s tough to say firmly if Williams is here to stay as a decent weekly fantasy option. I personally think the Broncos will continue to rotate the three backs and that it will be more of a committee where they ride the hot hand.

I do think fantasy owners should at least stash Williams on their bench, unless there’s somehow a team’s No. 1 back on the waiver wire, or if you have enough RBs to get through the season.

Ekeler played back on Thursday night. He only had two rushing attempts, gaining seven yards, but he was heavily involved in the passing game to deliver a good fantasy score. Ekeler had 89 yards on eight catches and nine targets.

Ekeler played 34 snaps, which was 52% of the team’s total. Brian Robinson Jr. returned from an injury and had 35 snaps - he got 17 touches, with 16 coming on the ground.

There’s room inside the Washington offense to support a couple fantasy running backs, and I believe Ekeler is here to stay as a weekly contributor. He’s a bit riskier an option than Robinson as the pass catcher, but he’s maybe the team’s second-best pass catching option behind Terry McLaurin, so I think Ekeler can keep putting up good fantasy totals, especially in PPR leagues.

Quarterbacks

Anthony Richardson and Jameis Winston are the two quarterbacks I want to discuss this week.

Richardson is another player I’ve written about a ton this week. He was 20-of-30 passing for 272 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in week 11. He added 32 rushing yards and two more scores on 10 attempts. Richardson did lose a fumble, but he still delivered his best fantasy outing of the season.

Richardson does have a tougher schedule ahead, but he also looked good and delivered against a stronger Jets’ defense in week 11, so some of those fears should be alleviated. It’s a very small sample size when it comes to Richardson being a good fantasy option, but I believe week 11 was a great step in the right direction.

I think Richardson is here to stay as a weekly fantasy option, and we might finally get that dual-threat fantasy star QB we’ve been hoping for.

Winston had 395 passing yards, two touchdowns and no picks on 30-of-46 passing in week 11. He rushed for eight yards on his lone scramble.

That makes two good fantasy showings in three starts for Winston. He’s thrown for at least 235 yards in every start, with two games over 330 yards now. Winston has six touchdowns and three interceptions (all in one game) over his starts.

I don’t think Winston can deliver his week 11 numbers every time out, but I do believe we know what he is, and that’s a streaming option in the right matchups. He’s got some favorable matchups ahead, and can be trusted with a start in the right matchups.
