Tight Ends
Pat Freiermuth, Dalton Schultz, Isaiah Likely, Austin Hooper and Tommy Tremble are the five tight ends I want to talk about this week.
Freiermuth went for 68 yards and a touchdown on six receptions and seven targets in the Steelers’ 44-point outburst on Sunday.
It set a new season high in yards for Freiermuth - he tied his season high in targets and posted his most catches. It was the second straight week in which Freiermuth had over 50 yards, which is the biggest thing to note.
Schultz got going a bit with 61 yards and a score on five catches and seven targets.
It was the first time Schultz scored this season, and he tied a season high in catches too. It was the second-most yards he’s posted in a contest so far.
Likely went for just 38 yards on five grabs and eight targets, but he scored once to post a good fantasy score.
It was a nice bounceback for Likely, who didn’t even have a target in his last game out. He had 75 yards on four catches and five targets the previous week.
Hooper continues to trend upward. He had 42 yards and a touchdown on four grabs and targets.
He’s now had four targets in four straight games, and four catches in three straight. Hooper has at least 35 yards in all those games, and now has two touchdowns in that span (back-to-back weeks).
Tremble stepped into the spotlight with Ja'Tavion Sanders out with an injury. Tremble had 77 yards on five grabs and eight targets.
Tremble set a new season high in targets, receptions and yards, but is still looking for his first touchdown. Sanders is hopeful to return in week 14, so Tremble’s time in the limelight might be short.
Let’s now take a look at each of these tight ends, first as week 14 streaming options and then as options for the remainder of the season.
Tremble will go up against the Eagles, while Freiermuth takes on the Browns. Schultz, Hooper and Likely are all on bye weeks unfortunately.
Freiermuth’s matchup is pretty favorable, while Tremble’s would be one of the tougher ones. Adding in that Sanders could be back to take away snaps/targets for Tremble, I’m easily taking Freiermuth as the top week 14 streamer.
For the rest of the season, Schultz has the best schedule remaining. Freiermuth and Tremble have similar schedules ahead. Hooper has a pretty tough schedule and Likely has the hardest of any tight end.
Freiermuth has been a bit more consistent this season, so I’d take him and his fairly favorable schedule for the remainder of the season.
I’d then take Schultz. He’s been a bit of a disappointment this season, but maybe week 13 was a step in the right direction. Schultz has the chance to deliver given how the Texans’ offense currently looks.
I’d take Hooper next. He’s proven he can deliver despite being the Pats’ No. 2 tight end. I think he can keep that going for the remainder of the season.
Give me Likely next. He’s been inconsistent most of the season, but he’s been better than Tremble and is part of a better offense. Tremble I would only feel confident in if Sanders missed extended time.
Quarterbacks
Russell Wilson, Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson and Drake Maye are five quarterbacks we’ll discuss this week.
Wilson was fantastic in week 13, completing 29 of his 38 passes for 414 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He rushed for three yards on three carries.
Wilson has 200 or more passing yards in three straight games. He tossed multiple touchdowns for the third time in his six starts. All three of Wilson’s interceptions have come in the past four games though.
Williams completed just 20 of his 39 passes, but for 256 yards, three touchdowns and no picks back on Thursday. He rushed for 39 yards on four carries.
Williams has over 230 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions over the past three weeks. He hasn’t thrown a pick in the past six contests.
Young had 298 passing yards, a touchdown and no interceptions on 26-of-46 passing in week 13. He also had 17 rushing yards and a score on three carries.
Young has over 260 yards, two touchdowns and no picks the past two games. He’s rushed for over 15 yards in three straight games, and also hasn’t thrown an interception over that span.
Richardson completed half of his 24 passes for 109 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in week 13. While that final line isn’t great, his 48 rushing yards and a score on nine carries is.
Since getting his starting job back, Richardson has 553 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions on 52.4% passing. He’s also rushed for 141 yards and three scores on 29 attempts.
Maye was 24-of-30 passing for 238 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He added 59 rushing yards on five carries.
Maye has thrown for over 220 yards in each of the past three weeks. He has four touchdowns and three picks over that span. The rookie has rushed for at least 20 yards in each of the past six games.
In week 14, Richardson and Maye both have their byes.
Williams takes on the 49ers on Sunday afternoon. Wilson goes up against the Browns, while Young battles the Eagles.
Wilson has the most favorable matchup of the three, but it’s just average overall. The matchup for Williams is a bit tougher, while Young has one of the toughest clashes in the league.
I like Wilson the most for week 14 among the three streaming options here. I wouldn’t expect him to perform as well as he did in week 13, but I think he could at least be an average fantasy QB.
I’d take Williams over Young. Both matchups scare me, but Williams has been just a bit better this season, so I trust him more than Young. I’ve been trying to avoid QBs against the Eagles, unless they are must-start fantasy QBs.
As far as the rest of the season, Young has a really favorable schedule ahead. Wilson also has more favorable matchups ahead than tough ones. Richardson, Maye and Williams all have similar schedules ahead, and it’s not very favorable.
I’d take Wilson again for the best fantasy QB for the remainder of the season. I’ve been a fan of Wilson since he took over as the Pittsburgh starter, and I’m definitely on board after what he showed in week 13.
I’d take Young after that, which is probably a bit of a surprise to many of you. He’s been much better of late, and with a favorable schedule ahead, I’m willing to take a chance on Young for the stretch run, especially in deeper leagues.
I like Richardson next. His dual-threat ability helps overcome some of his tougher matchups, so I’m fine taking a gamble on the young QB.
I like Maye slightly over Williams for the last spot. The Bears have the better offense, but I’m just more confident in Maye, and not just because Maye’s schedule is a bit better. He’s been a more consistent fantasy performer, and I think that continues the rest of the season.
