After already looking at some fantasy football takeaways from the first slate of Sunday games, it’s time to do the same for the afternoon and night games.

Charbonnet Excels in Lead Role

I wrote yesterday about how I trusted Seattle’s Zach Charbonnet to deliver a big fantasy game while starting for the injured Kenneth Walker, and Charbonnet did just that in the team’s win over the Cardinals.

Charbonnett rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. That alone would have been a great fantasy showing, but he also had 59 receiving yards on seven catches and targets to up his score even more.

Charbonnet continues to show he’s more than capable filling in as the starter, and it actually surprises me how little he’s used when he and Walker are both healthy.

Charbonnet looks like an easy choice to be a waiver wire addition this week, but if Walker returns in week 15, it’s very likely Charbonnet goes back to his reserve role. He’s basically just a handcuff to Walker otherwise.

If you have a roster spot to play with in a standard league, I think Charbonnet is worth adding - if I had Walker and Charbonnet is still available, I’m definitely adding him. The only way you are probably playing Charbonnet moving forward is if Walker is out, but given the uncertainty of the injury, it doesn’t hurt to stash Charbonnet in case Walker can’t go again.

Plenty of Fireworks in Rams, Bills Game

Los Angeles earned a 44-42 win over Buffalo on Sunday, and there were several big-time fantasy showings from each team.

Rams’ Puka Nacua had 162 receiving yards and a score on 12 catches and 14 targets. He also rushed five times for 16 yards and an additional score.

Cooper Kupp went for 92 yards and a score on five catches and eight targets. Kyren Williams had 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. Matthew Stafford was 23-of-30 passing for 320 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Nacua is a weekly starter, and really is one of the top fantasy wideouts in the game. The Rams love getting him involved, and he’s a guy who could carry fantasy teams to titles this season.

Kupp is starting just about every week, and although he’s often behind Nacua, is a good/great fantasy performer most weeks. Williams is another must-start player - he can deliver big games without big-time yardages.

Stafford is an above-average streaming option, but he’s not treated like one. When he has Nacua and Kupp to throw to, Stafford can put up good numbers against any defense. It’s time fantasy owners treat Stafford closer to a weekly starter than just a guy to play in favorable matchups.

Khalil Shakir had 106 yards on five receptions and eight targets for the Bills. Amari Cooper didn’t score, but he finished with 95 yards on six grabs and 14 targets. Mack Hollins and Ty Johnson had 57 and 55 yards, respectively, and each caught a touchdown.

Shakir is a good weekly starting option, and should be viewed as the top Buffalo pass catching option down the stretch. Cooper appears in weekly receiver start/sit articles, but looks to be on the right side of things moving forward.

Hollins and Johnson are better deep-league options, but are still standard league streaming options in a pinch, especially Johnson as a running back.

The big Buffalo fantasy performance was put together by quarterback Josh Allen. He was 22-of-37 passing for 342 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Allen rushed for an additional 82 yards and three scores on 10 carries.

Allen has been a good/great fantasy quarterback all season, and is my favorite to win MVP. He absolutely needs to be starting every week, and he’s another who could single handedly carry a fantasy team to a title (as referenced by Sunday’s game).

Niners Get Back On Track

San Francisco dominated Chicago and won 38-13 on Sunday.

Brock Purdy eased the minds of fantasy owners after completing 20 of his 25 passes for 325 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He should start in more leagues next week after this big showing.

George Kittle bounced back with 151 yards on six receptions and targets. He needs to be starting every week.

Jauan Jennings had 90 yards and two scores on seven catches and eight targets. He’s the top San Fran fantasy wideout, and should be in just about every starting lineup from here on out.

Isaac Guerendo starred in the lead back role before leaving late with an injury. He rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, while adding 50 receiving yards on two grabs and targets. We’ll have to watch his status moving forward, but if he’s healthy, he’s a good/great starting option.
