Consistent hot-corner anchor remains a reliable foundation for fantasy lineups
Alex Bregman enters his age-32 season in a contract year, anchoring the hot corner for a perennially competitive Houston Astros squad. While he may no longer possess the ceiling of his early-career MVP-caliber campaigns, Bregman's combination of elite plate discipline and consistent lineup placement makes him an exceptionally safe fantasy option. He projects to hit in the heart of the Astros order, which should afford him plenty of run-producing opportunities in a strong offensive environment.
Our models project Bregman to turn in another typical, highly reliable season. He is projected for a .261 batting average and a robust .363 on-base percentage, fueled by his excellent walk-to-strikeout ratio. From a category perspective, fantasy managers can expect modest slugging with roughly 22 home runs, 83 runs scored, and 85 RBIs over 548 at-bats. While he is a non-factor on the base paths with single-digit stolen base projections, his steady run production and OBP floor provide elite ratio stabilization.
Drafting Bregman is a play for stability rather than speculative upside. At his current market cost, he is a safe, high-floor corner infielder who won't hurt you in any category except speed, while serving as a massive asset in OBP leagues. He represents a premier target for managers who prefer to secure a bankable baseline of plate appearances and runs in the middle rounds.
