JoJo Romero navigates rough patch but remains a hold-league asset in the Cardinals' high-leverage mix.

JoJo Romero has endured a rocky stretch lately, posting a 10.38 ERA and a heavy 2.31 WHIP over his last five appearances. Despite these recent struggles, he remains a vital high-leverage piece for the second-place Cardinals (35-28), slotting in as a primary late-inning setup option. His workload security is further cemented with fellow reliever Ryan Fernandez recently landing on the 15-day injured list.

His current 4.38 ERA and 1.59 WHIP are underwhelming, but his elite 11.55 K/9 over 22.6 innings shows his bat-missing arsenal remains highly effective. Our season projection forecasts positive regression toward a 3.66 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP, closer to his excellent 2.29 ERA mark from last year, suggesting his current ratio inflation is a temporary fluke.

St. Louis embarks on a six-game road trip against the Mets and Twins this week. Our weekly projection expects Romero to work 3.1 innings, striking out three with a clean 2.97 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, and over a full hold. He remains an active source of holds and ratio stabilization, making him a steady weekly Hold.
