Fantasy Baseball Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickups: Elly De La Cruz, Andrew Abbott, and More!
Happy Monday! Welcome to Week 11.
Somehow, we’re almost halfway through the season, which means your league standings are going to start to get late, early. As such, there’s no better time to take stock of your team and see what you need to add in order to make an impact. With multiple recent call-ups and (unfortunately) ongoing injuries, there is no shortage of players to add in leagues of all sizes.
With no time to spare, let’s dive in and take a look at the top fantasy baseball pickups heading into Week 11 of the 2023 season.

Top Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds
(ownership percentages are based on ESPN leagues)
Elly De La Cruz, SS, Cincinnati Reds (69.4%)
There is no hotter add than De La Cruz right now, so take a minute and go check to see if he’s available in your league. I’ll wait. Ok, now that you’re back, the reason De La Cruz is so popular is that he’s 22 at-bats into his MLB career and is hitting .364 with seven runs, one home run, four RBI, and three steals. Will he keep up that pace? Likely not. But even if he doesn’t, he’s a really good young player and is someone who shouldn’t be sitting on waivers.
Andrew Abbott, P, Cincinnati Reds (23.6%)
Staying in Cincinnati (the future looks bright, Reds fans!), Abbott is another young Reds player who needs to be scooped up immediately. He’s only two starts and 11.2 innings into his MLB career, but he’s yet to allow a run and has struck out 10 batters. While the seven walks leave a little something to be desired, Abbott is still just 24 years old, and struggles like that are to be expected.
Bryan De La Cruz, OF, Miami Marlins (37.2%)
The 26-year-old is hitting .295 on the season with 29 runs, eight home runs, 35 RBI, and three steals. Somehow, he’s available in over 60 percent of ESPN leagues. While the shortening of benches in ESPN leagues likely has something to do with that, De La Cruz shouldn’t be on waivers. He’s hampered a bit by the (meh) team he’s on, but De La Cruz has a good enough pedigree that there’s no reason to think he can’t end up with 20-25 HR, 10 steals, and a batting average over .280-.285.
James Paxton, SP, Boston Red Sox (27.8%)
I can’t believe I’m writing about James Paxton in 2023, yet here we are! Paxton has been pretty darn good since coming off the IL five starts ago and currently possesses a record of 2-1 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts in 26.0 innings. He’s really only had one bad start, so those numbers would look a lot better without that. He’ll face a lackluster Rockies team this week and look to continue his streak of turning back the clock.
Nolan Jones, OF, Colorado Rockies (14.3%)
Speaking of the Rockies, Nolan Jones has looked really good in his 50 at-bats this season. He’s currently hitting .360 with seven runs, four home runs, 12 RBI, and four steals. Like, De La Cruz (Elly, that is), Jones likely won’t keep up this torrid pace. But he’s worth adding as the 25-year-old also has the extra advantage of playing at Coors Field.
