2023 NFL Free Agency: OBJ Lands With Baltimore Ravens!
After months of speculation, Odell Beckham Jr has finally decided on the next chapter of his football career. The dynamic wide receiver has signed a one year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The deal is worth $18 million, with $15 million guaranteed.
Beckham was originally drafted by the New York Giants with the 12th overall pick in 2014. He started his career with great performances day in and day out. As a matter of fact, he had 96 receptions and 35 touchdowns in his first three seasons.
However, despite signing a 5-year extension with the Giants worth $90 million in 2018, he was traded to Cleveland Browns in 2019. His first season in Cleveland was a success as he had a 1000-yard season and four touchdowns. Following an injury-shortened season, in 2021 he was not able to put together the same strong season he had in 2019. He was only able to manage 230 yards in 6 games.
The Cleveland Browns then decided to part ways with the dynamic wide receiver by placing him on waivers. Soon after, he was picked up by the Los Angeles Rams. In Los Angeles, he was once again able to find his form. That appeared to be the case, as he had 5 touchdowns in 8 games for the Rams, and performed at a high level in the playoffs. OBJ proved to be a crucial acquisition for the Rams, as he was a pivotal piece in helping them win a Championship.
However, OBJ, missed all last season after suffering a torn ACL in the Super Bowl. He spent the entire season taking care of his injury as well as taking visits and speaking to various team officials about a possible return. The Dallas Cowboys had emerged as real suitors for his services last season, but it was decided that it would be best for him to miss the entire season so that there would be no setbacks in his recovery.
During this past offseason, he had scheduled private workouts for organizations. Also worth noting is that prior to signing with the Ravens, he had various other visits scheduled including one with the New York Jets.

Fantasy Outlook
Now that Odell Beckham Jr has joined the Baltimore Ravens, there is a strong chance that Lamar Jackson will be motivated and not disgruntled with the organization. This a great acquisition for the Ravens as it pairs Beckham Jr for the first time with a quarterback of Jackson’s caliber, and it gives Jackson a dynamic weapon that he has never had before in his entire NFL Career. More importantly, Rashod Bateman was the only wide receiver that was a constant threat to opposing defenders before getting injured.
The value in bringing Odell to Baltimore is that he can prove to be a mentor to the young wide receivers on the Ravens, considering he has a super bowl title. Also, he can line up in the slot, and the ability to take the top off the defense by making jaw-dropping plays, which would allow Lamar Jackson to showcase his arm strength even more. By doing so, he will be solidifying his reputation even more. as one of the league's most dominant dual-threat quarterbacks.
