Fantasy Football Injury Report Week 2: Austin Ekeler, Mark Andrews, Aaron Jones, Zack Moss, DeAndre Hopkins & More
Week 2 is here and we're here to keep you up to date on all the latest injury news to your key fantasy options.
Quarterbacks
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets (Achilles)
Rodgers ruptured his Achilles on Monday night and his season is over after just four plays. There is also a chance that his career is over or very close to it. He has stated that there is a chance he could return if the Jets make a deep playoff run. There is no chance he returns and no chance the Jets make a deep playoff run. Zach Wilson is the projected starter until that terrible line gets him hurt too.
Running Backs
Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers (Ankle)
Ekeler has officially been listed as doubtful for Week 2 and is not expected to play. This makes Joshua Kelley a very interesting start this week. He was great last week against the Miami Dolphins and should see a heavy usage rate against the Tennessee Titans. However, Tennessee is a much tougher matchup.
Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers (Hamstring)
Jones was not able to practice at all this week and is officially listed as questionable. If he is physically able to play the team will let him go, but hamstrings can be tricky. He should be viewed as 50/50 for Week 2 and you need to have a backup plan if you're depending on him.
Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts (Arm)
Moss is expected to return from his broken arm this week and serve as the team's lead back. Deon Jackson was putrid last week and Evan Hull has been sent to injured reserve. If Moss is on your waivers he is worth a stash now because you could be getting this team's clear-cut RB1.
Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints (Hamstring)
After missing Week 1, Miller was able to participate in a limited fashion all week. He appears to be on the right side of questionable for Week 2 but isn't a lock to play. Either way, you'll need to take a wait-and-see approach with the rookie until we see what his role in the offense is.
Clyde Edwards-Hellaire, Kansas City Chiefs (Illness)
CEH was not able to practice at all on Friday, however, with an illness that doesn't mean he can't play on Sunday. You were never going to start him anyway, but his absence would mean a slight boost for Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon.
Cordarrelle Patterson, Atlanta Falcons (Thigh)
Patterson is expected to return for Week 2 in his "joker" role which will only further complicate the Falcons' offense. His presence could cut into Tyler Allgeier's workload, but he should most likely be fine. If anyone is impacted it would most likely be tight end Kyle Pitts who is already struggling to get targets in an offense with the lowest passing rate in the league.
Wide Receivers
DeAndre Hopkins, Tennessee Titans (Ankle)
D-Hop was not able to practice at all this week with an ankle injury. He's a vet so he could still suit up without any practice, however, he should be considered a true game-time decision this week. If he is ruled out, it would be a boost for Treylon Burks and Chig Okonkwo.
Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers (Hamstring)
Watson was able to get in a limited practice for the first time on Friday. After missing Week 1, he has a shot to play Week 2. He still needs to be considered very questionable though.
Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers (Hamstring)
Johnson was not able to practice all week. While he is yet to be ruled out, he's not going to play this week. There is even a chance he still lands on IR. George Pickens will be elevated to the WR1 spot with Calvin Austin potentially seeing more targets.
DJ Chark, Carolina Panthers (Hamstring)
Chark got in a few limited practices to finish out the week and looks to be ready to make his Panthers' debut this weekend. We have him projected to be the team's WR1, but that's not a given. Especially this week.
Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams (Oblique)
The Nacua hype train was in full force all week and now it looks to be back on the tracks. He's listed as questionable but is expected to play. There is a real chance that fantasy owners are in for a major letdown this week with Nacua coming in at less than 100% against the 49ers' defense.
Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos (Hamstring)
Jeudy has been a full participant in practice and is expected to start this weekend without limitations. This muddies the waters for Courtland Sutton and makes Marvin Mims unusable.
Brandin Cooks, Dallas Cowboys (Knee)
Cooks was not able to practice all week and is believed to be a true game-time decision this week. He looks to be on the wrong side of questionable.
Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders (Concussion)
Meyers was not able to clear the concussion protocol and will miss Week 2. Hunter Renfrow could see an increased role.
Tight Ends
Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs (Knee)
Breath fantasy owners... Kelce is ready to roll Week 2 and is expected to be a full-go.
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (Quad)
Andrews was a full participant in Friday's practice and is expected to play. There is a chance he could be limited, but if you have him you're starting him.
Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos (Hamstring)
Dulcich has been ruled out for Week 2 which gives Adam Trautman a bit of a boost as a streaming option.
