Week 8 QB and TE Waiver Adds: Gardner Minshew, Taysom Hill, Dalton Kincaid, and More!
Happy Monday! I'm not sure how, but we're done with more than half of the fantasy football regular season. Unless you're sitting at 1-6 or 0-7, you still have a chance to get back in the game -- or expland your lead in the standings. And a big part of making up some ground is making sure you make the right waiver moves.
With running backs and wide receivers coming in a separate article, let's take a look at the quarterbacks and tight ends you should be scooping off the waiver wire for Week 8.

Quarterback
(ownership percentages are based on ESPN leagues)
Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts (3.6 percent)
There's a good chance we're chasing a great Week 7 performance here, but Minshew just put up a monster 27-point game so we can't ignore him either. He'll presumably be the Colts' starter for the rest of this season and he's been able to put up solid fantasy performances as a fill-in throughout his career. While Minshew doesn't have a ton of weapons around him, Michael Pittman and rookie Josh Downs provide him with some solid options. I wouldn't pick him up thinking you'll have a week-to-week fantasy starter for the rest of the season, but Minshew can provide solid QB2 numbers in the right matchups.
Desmond Ridder, Atlanta Falcons (6.3 percent)
I still feel like Ridder doesn't have a firm hold on the Falcons' starting quarterback job, but he's putting up solid fantasy numbers more or less every week. Through seven games, Ridder is averaging 14.1 fantasy points per week and has strung together three solid performances in a row. He's thrown for at least 250 yards in each of his last three games and has added a rushing touchdown in two of those games. With a host of weapons around him, Ridder should be able to put up respectable fantasy numbers as long as he can hold onto the job.
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers (9.0 percent)
Young hasn't had a great start to his NFL career, but he went into the Panthers' bye week on a positive note. After two stinkers to start the year, the rookie has thrown for 464 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions over his last two games. Those aren't exactly league-winning numbers, but Young has talent and is worth a look as a backup fantasy quarterback. With matchups against Houston, Indianapolis, and Chicago on the horizon, Young could be a worthy bye week fill-in if needed.
Tight End
(ownership percentages are based on ESPN leagues)
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills (31.3 percent)
I don't usually like to write about players who are on more than 25 percent of rosters, but I'll make an exception for Kincaid. A popular preseason sleeper, the 2023 first-round pick was dropped in quite a few leagues due to a combination of a slow start and time missed due to a concussion. However, Kincaid is healthy again and broke out in Week 7 with eight catches for 75 yards on eight targets. All three of those numbers were season (and career) highs for the rookie, and he looks to be on his way toward earning a bigger role in the Bills' struggling offense. With Stefon Diggs being the only cog in the Bills' offense, there's space for Kincaid to continue to see 5-7 targets per game. He should be added wherever he's available.
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (5.6 percent)
I feel like we get fooled into doing this every year, but here we are again looking at Taysom Hill as a viable fantasy pickup. After basically doing nothing through the first five weeks of the season, Hill has come on strong over the last two weeks with 11 catches for 99 yards on 13 targets to go along with six carries for 20 yards and a touchdown. I can't promise he'll see that type of usage for the rest of the season (or even next week), but Hill is worth a pickup in most leagues as the tight end landscape is more or less barren right now.
Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (13.3 percent)
Speaking of barren, that's more or less how Tyler Conklin found himself on this list. There's really just not much else out there, and Conklin is at least dependably mediocre. Serving as Zach Wilson's security blanket, is averaging just over seven fantasy points per game -- which is higher than players like Tyler Higbee, Pat Freiermuth, Hayden Hurst, and Noah Fant. He doesn't possess much upside, but Conklin consistently sees somewhere between 4-6 targets every week and has a relatively high floor because of it.
