2024 NFL Mock Draft Day 2: Rounds 2 and 3 Bring More Surprises for Kool-Aid McKinstry, Cooper DeJean, Kris Jenkins, Spencer Rattler, Adonai Mitchell and More
Many big names weren't called in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft, so let's see where they end up on Day 2.
The 2024 NFL Draft has already brought us twists and turns and Rounds 2 and 3 during Day 2 should be no different. We watched in real-time as the Falcons pulled a fast one on everyone by taking Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8. The Broncos followed that up with their own shocker by nabbing Bo Nix at No. 12.
Things calmed down a bit there but you can always nitpick choices like the 49ers selecting Ricky Pearsall at No. 31. Maybe a reach for most of us fake analysts with Keon Coleman and Adonai Mitchell still on the board. I do like Pearsall though, as he was the No. 9 WR on my board.
It certainly helps the Bears to add Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze. I like the Cardinals getting Marvin Harrison Jr. and Darius Robinson. Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels should be a great culture fits in New England and Washington, respectively.
I know a lot of people are going to be excited to see Xavier Worthy working with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. The Tyreek Hill comps aren’t fair to either Hill or Worthy. But I get it.
But let’s move on to the future! Rounds 2 and 3 begin tonight, Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. ET. Here are my selections from Nos. 33 to 100.

2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 2: Picks 33-40
33. Buffalo (via CAR): Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa
34. New England: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
35. Arizona: Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia
36. Washington: Roger Rosengarten, T, Washington
37. LA Chargers: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
38. Tennessee: Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon
39. Carolina (via CAR): Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama
40. Washington (via CHI): Patrick Paul, T, Houston
Cooper DeJean still being on the board probably shocks a lot of people. I’d bet most of these names still being available is a surprise. Kool-Aid’s limited athleticism seems to have brought him down a notch.
McConkey and Franklin won’t last long. What’s wild is there were nine offensive linemen already drafted and I’m projecting another three to go in the next eight picks. Maybe more.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 2: Picks 41-48
41. Green Bay (via NYJ): Jer'Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois
42. Houston (via MIN): Max Melton, CB, Rutgers
43. Atlanta: Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon
44. Las Vegas: Kingsley Suamataia, T, BYU
45. New Orleans (via DEN): Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
46. Indianapolis: Ja'Lynn Polk, WR, Washington
47. NY Giants (via SEA): Payton Wilson, LB, North Carolina State
48. Jacksonville: Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas
More names available that many thought could go earlier like Newton and JPJ. The Packers do enjoy a certain luxury in having a young roster that is tailor-made for a “best player available” approach. Having Newton fall in their lap here would be insane.
I’d love to see the Colts address the WR position early in Round 2. Polk plays bigger than his frame and will give Anthony Richardson a nice target with good body control.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 2: Picks 49-48
49. Cincinnati: Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State
50. Philadelphia (via NO): Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State
51. Pittsburgh: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
52. LA Rams: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan
53. Philadelphia: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota
54. Cleveland: Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri
55. Miami: Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
56. Dallas: Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan
The run on defensive players is picking up again. All but one choice here is on defense and my favorite might be Jenkins landing in Dallas at No. 56.
I’m not sure if Jonnu Smith is much of a first-string tight end these days in Miami. Neither is Durham Smythe. I believe he is still growing as a blocker but should be able to contribute as a move TE soon.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 2: Picks 57-64
57. Tampa Bay: Javon Bullard, S, Georgia
58. Green Bay: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State
59. Houston: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M
60. Buffalo: Kiran Amegadjie, T, Yale
61. Detroit: Chris Braswell, EDGE, Alabama
62. Baltimore: T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State
63. San Francisco: Jonah Elliss, EDGE, Utah
64. Kansas City: Brandon Coleman, T, TCU
I love linebackers. Love the position. But to have Cooper fall this far seems like a possibility. So many teams are pulling them off the field as the proliferation of nickel corners and box safeties becomes the norm. Seems like every team spends half the game in a 4-2-5 or nickel variation.
Coleman would be a huge haul for the Packers and seriously disrupt their WR depth chart which is still searching for their No. 1 between Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Christian Watson.

2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 3: Picks 65-72
65. Carolina: Malachi Corley, WR, Western Kentucky
66. Arizona: Christian Haynes, G, Connecticut
67. Washington: Jaden Hicks, S, Washington State
68. New England: Spencer Rattler, QB, South Carolina
69. LA Chargers: Blake Corum, RB, Michigan
70. NY Giants: Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama
71. Arizona (via TEN): Brandon Dorlus, DT, Oregon
72. NY Jets: Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE, Western Michigan
The Patriots go QB again? Why not? Not a knock on Maye at all but I believe a team will trade up to grab Rattler if he’s still lingering into Round 3.
Corum reunites with Jim Harbaugh on the Chargers. I am interested to see how John Harbaugh’s brother reinvents their offense since so many pieces are gone from last season.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 3: Picks 73-80
73. Dallas (via MIN): Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson
74. Atlanta: Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky
75. Chicago: Junior Colson, LB, Michigan
76. Denver: Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State
77. Las Vegas: Blake Fisher, T, Notre Dame
78. Washington (via SEA): Devontez Walker, WR, North Carolina
79. Atlanta (via JAX): Xavier Thomas, EDGE, Clemson
80. Cincinnati: Ray Davis, RB, Kentucky
Tez Walker had some nice moments when he finally got on the field. The Commanders have a deep WR room, but what have they shown for it?
Wilson could eventually grow into an elite move tight end. I’m thinking like a Jimmy Graham role with Sean Payton. He’s a huge target and Wilson will surprise people with his burst. Bo Nix couldn’t miss this guy.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 3: Picks 81-88
81. Seattle (via NO): Bucky Irving, RB, Oregon
82. Indianapolis: Trey Benson, RB, Florida State
83. LA Rams: Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, C, Georgia
84. Pittsburgh: Calen Bullock, S, USC
85. Cleveland: Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
86. Houston (via PHI): Austin Booker, EDGE, Kansas
87. Dallas: MarShawn Lloyd, RB, USC
88. Green Bay: Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon
The run on running backs begins and of course, the Seahawks have to add another running back to frustrate every dynasty owner out there. The Colts bring in Benson to give Jonathan Taylor a proper backup.
I don’t believe the Browns give Chubb a long-term deal, so taking a RB today makes sense. Everybody seems to believe the Cowboys will draft a RB on Day 2; however, I see Rico Dowdle being their starter in Week 1.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 3: Picks 88-94
89. Tampa Bay: Javon Solomon, EDGE, Troy
90. Arizona (via HOU): Jalyx Hunt, EDGE, Houston Christian
91. Green Bay (via BUF): Cooper Beebe, G, Kansas State
92. Tampa Bay (via DET): Erick All, TE, Iowa
93. Baltimore: Malik Washington, WR, Virginia
94. San Francisco: Jalen McMillan, WR, Washington
The 49ers terrify everyone by drafting another wide receiver. I think they’re so good at picking defensive players that their opponents should be pleased if they do.
Tampa has drafted at least one tight end in each of the last two seasons, and I see them doing it again with as Cade Otton isn’t a difference-maker in my estimation. Erick All has a lot of medical red flags, but he’s on the other side of those concerns.
2024 NFL Mock Draft Round 3: Picks 95-100
95. Kansas City: Javon Baker, WR, UCF
96. Jacksonville: Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington
97. Cincinnati: Cade Stover, TE, Ohio State
98. Pittsburgh (via PHI): Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S, Texas Tech
99. LA Rams: Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane
100. Washington (via SF): Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson
The Chiefs go back to the well and take another receiver. Baker has a well-rounded game and what really caught my eye is his quick-thinking after plays break down. He’d fit in nicely with the Chiefs given his plus hands and solid route-running.
Is Pratt the successor to Matthew Stafford? Maybe. I like his footwork and poise. The arm talent, which has become such a huge focus in evaluations, is a weakness. But there's a lot I like in his game like his touch, accuracy and vision.
