NFL Week 3 Power Rankings: Saints and Buccaneers make Big Leaps Up
The newest power rankings are out and there are a ton of huge leaps and falls.
Power Rankings: Week 3
32. Carolina Panthers
Last Week 32
There is no doubt that this is the worst team in the league after another embarrassing beatdown. However, the benching of Bryce Young should improve the offense significantly.
31. New York Giants
Last Week 31
The Giants should have won in Week 2 and would have if they had a kicker. With that said, you can't lose to the Commanders and climb in the rankings no matter how valid your excuse may be.
30. Denver Broncos
Last Week 30
The Broncos managed just six points this week and may have the worst offense in the NFL if Andy Dalton can do anything in Carolina.
29. Tennessee Titans
Last Week 29
Will Levis is a disaster. He can't stop destroying his team with incredibly foolish turnovers. That's two weeks in a row that he's imploded and cost his team a win.
28. Indianapolis Colts
Last Week 18
The final score didn't tell the story of this game. The Packers dominated the Colts with Malik Willis as their quarterback. That's inexcusable.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars
Last Week 24
The more I watch Trevor Lawrence the less I believe in him and this team as a whole. The Jags are a bad team without much hope in sight.
26. Washington Commanders
Last Week 27
Washington moving up a spot is more about other teams dropping back and less about them stealing a win from the kickerless Giants.
25. Los Angeles Rams
Last Week 11
The Rams are now 0-2 and devastated by injuries all over the field. They lost both their star wideouts, their secondary is in tatters, and their O-line is in shambles. These injuries may be too much to overcome.
24. New England Patriots
Last Week 21
The Pats lost a hard-fought game to the Seahawks in overtime this week. They drop but not too far.
23. Las Vegas Raiders
Last Week 28
Vegas knocking off the Ravens was the shock of the week for me. So shocking that it knocked me out of my survivor pool which is already finished after Week 2. We are still skeptical about this offense and secondary moving forward
22. Seattle Seahawks
Last Week 22
Seattle sits undefeated at 2-0 with a very winnable matchup against Skylar Thompson and the Dolphins at home this week.
21. Los Angeles Chargers
Last Week 20
The Chargers slipped one spot despite beating the Panthers this week. The drop is more about other teams making big jumps and beating the Panthers, not being an overly impressive feat.
20. New York Jets
Last Week 19
The Jets won against a nightmarishly bad Levis this week, but this team does not look good on either side of the ball.
19. Chicago Bears
Last Week 15
The Bears' defense is awesome and they have a ton of weapons on offense. That offensive line is a major issue that needs to be fixed though.
18. Arizona Cardinals
Last Week 25
The Cardinals looked strong in a loss against the Bills in Week 1 and destroyed the Rams this week. They might be much better than we expected.
17. Cincinnati Bengals
Last Week 12
For the third straight season, the Bengals have started off 0-2. We know they are going to get better because they always do, but we can't put them any higher until they actually show us something.
16. Cleveland Browns
Last Week 16
The Browns managed to knock off the Jags this week, and more importantly, Deshaun Watson looked like a competent quarterback. That is the key to their success if they are going to be any kind of serious threat in the AFC.
15. Miami Dolphins
Last Week 6
A loss to the Bills isn't the end of the world, even a bad one like we saw on Thursday. However, losing Tua Tagovailoa may be the end of the world. With Tua now on IR, you may see them continue to drop unless they can somehow find a way to win some games without him.
14. Dallas Cowboys
Last Week 8
The Cowboys got destroyed by the Saints this week. The beating started immediately and never stopped. It was brutal.
13. Baltimore Ravens
Last Week 4
The Ravens are now winless after a rough loss to the Raiders. We know how good they can be, but they had to fall out of the top 10 and won't climb back up until they start winning games. The Chiefs were understandable. The Raiders, not so much.
12. Atlanta Falcons
Last Week 17
The Falcons pulled a rabbit out of their hat on Monday Night Football and made a pretty big jump here. The offense got better during that game and the offense is solid. We hope Kirk Cousins continues to get healthy and improve.
11. Minnesota Vikings
Last Week 26
Do we believe in Minnesota? Not really. However, they are currently undefeated with a convincing win over the 49ers. They deserve to be up here in the rankings for now.
10. Green Bay Packers
Last Week 14
The Packers winning a game with Malik Willis under center is nothing short of incredible. If they can somehow survive this stretch without Jordan Love, they have to be considered real contenders in the NFC.
9. Philadelphia Eagles
Last Week 7
The Eagles found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on Monday. They drop but not too far.
8. Pittsburgh Steelers
Last Week 10
The Steelers are undefeated and Justin Fields has been good enough to not lose games while the defense dominates on the other side of the ball. They are looking like a playoff team once again this season.
7. San Francisco 49ers
Last Week 2
The Niners got handled this week by the Vikings and now are without Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel Sr. for an extended period of time. The defense looks average and Brock Purdy has looked average at best. We expect them to be there in the end, but they have some work to do.
6. Detroit Lions
Last Week 3
The Lions were handed a loss in Week 2 by the Bucs and the offense has not clicked yet. It's most likely just a matter of time.
5. New Orleans Saints
Last Week 23
The Saints are destroying teams and have been elite on both sides of the ball. This is easily the biggest surprise of the season. They may not keep it up, but we have to go by what we've seen on the field.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Last Week 13
The Bucs have looked great and a win over the Lions catapults them up to the fourth spot. We doubted them coming into the season, but they may be the real deal.
3. Buffalo Bills
Last Week 9
The Bills mollywopped the Dolphins on TNF last week and are back near the top of the power pankings once again, a spot they've gotten used to in recent years. The injuries on the defense and lack of weapons are still troubling, but we won't worry about that until it becomes a problem on the field.
2. Houston Texans
Last Week 5
The Texans look like they are taking that next step that we hoped they would this season. They have looked strong on both sides of the ball and are currently undefeated. Houston could be the next powerhouse in the AFC.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Last Week 1
The reigning champs still sit undefeated and will not fall off their mountain until someone pushes them off of it.
