It’s time to wrap up my fantasy baseball series where I rank the top-10 fantasy players at each position.

Third base is the only position we have to cover. We’ve already discussed first basemen, closers, designated hitters, second basemen, shortstops, outfielders, catchers and starting pitchers.

Check back in the coming days and weeks for new fantasy baseball series as the 2025 season nears!

1. Jose Ramirez

Ramirez was the top fantasy third baseman last season, and I think he easily takes the top spot again this season.

In 158 games, Ramirez had a .279 average and .335 on-base percentage. He also hit 39 home runs and drove in 118 runs. To add to his overall numbers, Ramirez also stole 41 bases.

Ramirez simply does it all, and it makes him one of the top fantasy players in the game, not just at his position. Even with some major regression, which I don’t see coming in his age-32 season, I have Ramirez as the top fantasy 3B.

2. Rafael Devers

Devers was limited to 138 games last season, but still was a top-10 finisher at the position.

He hit .272 and got on base at a .354 clip. Those are both pretty close to his career marks. Devers also hit 28 home runs and drove in 83 runs.

Devers is 28 years old and hoping to replicate his 2023 season, when he hit 33 homers and drove in 100 RBIs. He would need a couple batters to step up around him, and for everyone to stay healthy to probably reach those numbers. I don’t love the Boston lineup, but there’s enough talent to help Devers compete for one of the top fantasy 3B spots, although I think he’ll come in a good ways behind Ramirez.

3. Manny Machado

Machado had a really nice season in 2024, hitting .275 and getting on base at a .325 clip.

Machado hit 29 home runs and drove in 105 runs. He’s been between 28-32 home runs and 91-106 RBIs over the past four seasons, so he’s really been quite consistent.

He’s 32 years old, but still has plenty in the tank, and should finish in that range of homers and RBIs if he stays healthy all season. If he could up his average and OBP a bit, he could give Ramirez a push for the top fantasy spot.

4. Austin Riley

Riley was a pretty big fantasy disappointment last season, and also missed over 50 games, so fantasy owners didn’t even get close to a full season out of him.

He hit .256 and got on base at a .322 clip - he has a career .272 average and .338 OBP, so I’d like to see him creep back toward those numbers a bit in 2025.

I think it’s possible in his age-27/28 season. I like the Braves’ offense to bounce back as a whole, and if it does, Riley has the chance to be a nice little draft steal.

5. Alex Bregman

Bregman hasn’t signed with a team yet, but should join a contender, putting him in a great position as a fantasy player.

He’s been a pretty consistent hitter over the past couple seasons, with averages between .259-.262. His OBP dropped nearly 50 points last season, and with 23 less RBIs than 2023, Bregman was viewed as a fantasy disappointment to most.

He still hit 26 homers and drove in 75 runs though, so it’s not like he was unusable. He’s closing in on age 31, but he’s got more than enough in the tank for a few more good fantasy seasons. His ranking could rise or fall a bit based on where he ends up signing.

6. Royce Lewis

Lewis has been one of the biggest “what ifs” over the past few seasons. When he’s on the field, he’s been a huge fantasy asset, but injuries have derailed his value, and career so far.

In 82 games last season, Lewis had a .233 average and .295 OBP. He has a career .268 average and .327 OBP, so there’s room for improvement there. He hit 16 homers and drove in 47 runs in his short time on the field, and if you double those to account for a full season, you’re talking about a top-end fantasy 3B.

He ranks sixth mostly because of injury concerns, but a full healthy season could make Lewis the biggest draft steal of 2025.

7. Mark Vientos

Vientos is another young player that I really like - I just haven’t seen enough of him to rank him any higher.

In 111 games last season, Vientos had a .266 average and .322 OBP. He now has career marks of .243 (average) and .297 (OBP). Vientos hit 27 homers and drove in 71 runs, and that’s what should appeal to fantasy owners.

He should hit in the heart of the order, and behind Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto. He’s in for a massive fantasy season if he can keep thumping at the pace he was last season. The only reason I don’t rank him higher is because we haven’t seen a full season of success from Vientos, and last year saw dramatic increases in several stats.

8. Nolan Arenado

Arenado was in trade talks the past few seasons, but it looks like he’ll be back with the Cardinals for at least the start of the 2025 season.

In 152 games last year, Arenado had a .272 average and .325 OBP, with just 16 home runs and 71 RBIs though. He was a draft bust because of the lack of power and run production.

He’s expected to hit in the heart of the order, which will give him a great chance to drive in runs again. He’s going to turn 34 in about 100 days, and I think he’s got at least one more solid season in him. I think his fantasy value could really jump if he got a change of scenery.

9. Junior Caminero

Caminero is one of my breakout stars of 2025.

He’s played 50 MLB games over the past two seasons. Caminero has a .246 average and .296 OBP, with seven home runs, 25 RBIs and two stolen bases.

Caminero was a highly-regarded prospect on his way to the big leagues, and I think we finally get his breakout season in his third official season. He’s still only 21 years old, by the way.

10. Max Muncy

Muncy rounds out my top-10 list at third base.

He was great in 73 games played last season, hitting 15 home runs and driving in 48 runs. Even if you just double those numbers, that’s a very good fantasy season.

He’s just a career .228 hitter, but has a .352 OBP, which offsets the lower average. Muncy will enjoy a big fantasy season if he can simply stay on the field - the same could be said for most Dodgers’ hitters.

Honorable Mentions

There’s a number of third baseman that nearly made my list.

Near the top 10 were: Matt Chapman, Jordan Westburg, Alec Bohm, Eugenio Suarez and Isaac Paredes.

Some other names to keep an eye on are: Matt Shaw, Josh Jung, Maikel Garcia, Ke'Bryan Hayes and Noelvi Marte.

Thank you for following along as I went through my top-10 players for the 2025 season. I’m excited to start up some new series soon, so be sure to check back!
