Kody Clemens Is Sizzling at the Plate as the Twins' Everyday First Baseman

Kody Clemens has been phenomenal over his last 12 games, batting .333 with five home runs and 10 RBI to help the third-place Twins (35-40) maintain a three-game winning streak. Clemens has seized the everyday starter role at first base. His steady presence is vital for Minnesota's lineup while catcher Ryan Jeffers remains sidelined on the injured list.

While his recent surge easily outpaces our models' modest .230 rest-of-season batting average projection, Clemens' 11 home runs on the year prove his power is entirely legitimate. Even if his average eventually regresses toward his career .215 baseline, his premium barrel rates suggest his heavy slugging is here to stay. He remains an excellent source of power as long as he avoids the prolonged slumps that plagued his early career.

Looking at the remaining schedule, the Twins play four more road games this week. Clemens matches up beautifully against high-ERA starters Jack Leiter, Zac Gallen, and Ryne Nelson, who all hold ERAs north of 5.10. Only Michael Soroka (3.11 ERA) presents a tough test. Keep him in your lineups. Verdict: Start.
