Zebby Matthews steps up in a depleted Twins rotation with a stream-worthy matchup ahead

Matthews has been a mixed bag recently, posting a 7.30 ERA over his last 14 days before bouncing back with a 2.57 ERA in his last outing. The third-place Twins (31-38) urgently need him to eat innings with key starters Pablo Lopez and Bailey Ober sidelined by injuries. Under these circumstances, Matthews securely slots in as a back-end starter in the rotation.

This season, Matthews has taken a step forward with a 4.19 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, vastly outperforming his career 5.68 ERA from last year. Our models project a rest-of-season 4.65 ERA and 1.32 WHIP.
