There were just four MLB games played on Monday, September 23. With so little time left in the regular season though, I want to go over the top performers from the day so you know of some waiver wire possibilities, or simply the league’s hottest hitters/pitchers to play, if you are still battling for a fantasy baseball title.

Phillies 6, Cubs 2
J.T. Realmuto hit a two-run home run among his two hits to power Philadelphia. Nick Castellanos had two hits, a walk and an RBI.
Bryce Harper had two hits, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored for the Phillies, while Kyle Schwarber had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Brandon Marsh had a hit, two walks and a run scored. Johan Rojas had a hit and two sacrifices.
Isaac Paredes as the only Chicago player with multiple hits. He had two knocks, including a double, a walk and a run scored. Mike Tauchman had a hit, two walks and an RBI, but was also caught stealing.
Aaron Nola earned his 13th win of the season after striking out seven over six frames. He allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks.
Matt Strahm earned a hold after tossing a scoreless inning before the Phillies pulled away. He finished with a strikeout, as did Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez in their scoreless innings of work.
Caleb Kilian was the Cubs’ bulk pitcher after Nate Pearson opened and tossed a scoreless frame. Kilian allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits and four walks, while striking out three over 5 2/3 innings.
Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 1
Wilyer Abreu had a double amongst his two hits, walked once, drove in a run and scored once for Boston. Jarren Duran doubled and tripled for his two knocks.
Ceddanne Rafaela drove in two runs without the benefit of a hit. Triston Casas walked three times and scored a run, while Connor Wong walked twice, stole a base and scored once. Trevor Story also walked twice, while also stealing a base. Nick Sogard had a double, walk and run scored.
No Toronto player reached base more than once, and all the team’s hits were singles. Spencer Horwitz drove in Nathan Lukes for the team’s only run.
Boston’s Tanner Houck got the win after working five scoreless innings. He allowed a hit and a walk, but also did not record a strikeout.
Greg Weissert, Zach Penrod and Luis Guerrero all earned holds before Boston scored again and took away the save situation. Chris Martin allowed the team’s only run in the ninth inning.
Chris Bassitt took the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and seven walks over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out two.
Mariners 6, Astros 1
Julio Rodriguez drove in two runs on three hits and also scored once for Seattle. He doubled once and singled twice, while also stealing a base.
Victor Robles stayed hot with two hits, a walk and two runs scored - he doubled and singled once each. Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Raleigh singled twice, while Arozarena doubled and singled. Justin Turner singled, walked, had a sacrifice fly, drove in a run and scored once.
Jason Heyward homered for the lone Houston run. That was the only extra-base hit the Astros had, and no player reached base more than once.
Bryce Miller earned his 12th win of the season after working seven scoreless frames. He allowed two hits and two walks, while punching out five.
Hunter Brown took the loss despite allowing just one run over six frames and striking out eight. He gave up three hits and three walks.
Giants 6, Diamondbacks 3
Matt Chapman hit a two-run home run among his two hits to power San Francisco. He drove in three runs total and also walked once.
Michael Conforto had a double and a solo home run on the day. He drove in one and scored twice. Mark Canha had two singles and a stolen base. Casey Schmitt hit a solo homer and walked once, while Curt Casali walked twice.
Geraldo Perdomo had a single, double and walk for Arizona. He drove in a run and scored once. Jose Herrera doubled, walked once and scored a run. Joc Pederson had a double, was plunked by a pitch and drove in a run.
Hayden Birdsong got his fifth win after working the first five innings. He allowed two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out six.
Spencer Bivens and Camilo Doval earned holds, while Ryan Walker earned the save. Erik Miller gave up a run in between when Bivens and Doval pitched.
Eduardo Rodriguez took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out eight, but allowed the three home runs.
