Kris Bubic Fantasy Outlook
Kansas City's Bubic is the top waiver wire pickup at the time of publication. He's up 10.33% and sitting at 60.97% overall.
Bubic has now made two starts, and he's 2-0 with a 0.71 earned run average across 12 2/3 innings. He allowed a run on eight hits and three walks, while striking out 16.
I'm surprised his own percentage is that low after what we saw from him in his first start. After shutting down the Orioles in his second outing, Bubic should be the top waiver wire addition, and can be added in all fantasy leagues. I'd at least want to roster and utilize him until his production starts falling off.
Martin Perez Fantasy Outlook
Chicago White Sox' Perez is up 8.29% today, bringing his total mark to 37.34%.
In his two starts, Perez is 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA. He's allowed a run on four hits and five walks over 12 1/3 innings, while punching out 13 batters.
Perez is on a terrible team, but you can't deny his results on the mound so far. He's definitely a streaming option for his next turn through the rotation, but definitely needs to be added in most deeper leagues.
He's faced the Twins and Tigers so far, so I'm not ready to add him in standard leagues yet, as I don't view those two offenses all that highly. He's a pitcher to keep tabs on in standard leagues in case this success continues though.
Zac Veen Fantasy Outlook
Veen is set to be called up by Colorado. He is up 7.86% today, bringing his total mark to 13.52%.
Veen is the team's No. 8 prospect and will be making his MLB debut. In 351 career minor league games, Veen has a .263 average, .358 on-base percentage, 41 home runs, 209 RBIs, 135 stolen bases, 232 runs scored, 185 walks and 374 strikeouts.
Hitters from Colorado get the advantage of playing home games in a hitter-friendly Coors Field. His minor league numbers aren't the greatest, but he's a pretty well-rounded player, which could help him out in fantasy leagues.
He's a better fantasy asset in dynasty leagues, but should get some love in deep re-draft fantasy leagues too. I'd at least stash him for a little while to see if he can make a difference at the big league level.
Veen could become a standard league asset with solid fantasy showings in his first week or two of action.
Trent Grisham Fantasy Outlook
Grisham has been on fire of late, and it's helped his own percentage jump 7.6% to 12.24% overall.
He's started the past four games for the Yankees, logging 18 plate appearances in that timeframe. Grisham has eight hits, including three home runs and a double, along with nine RBIs, two walks and stolen bases and five runs scored.
I'm not sure if Grisham can hang onto his starting spot when New York is at full health, but I bet he'll keep starting until he cools off. He's just a deep-league fantasy asset, and would need a couple more weeks of hot hitting to be a standard league asset.
Luke Jackson Fantasy Outlook
Texas' Jackson is rostered in 57.44% of leagues after a 7.31% increase today.
He's gotten off to a solid start despite having a 5.06 ERA. Jackson is 0-1 with five saves across six appearances. He's allowed three runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out five.
Jackson allowed all those runs in his first appearance, when he also took the loss. He has worked five scoreless innings since, allowing just three hits and a walk along the way.
He should have already been rostered in most deeper leagues, and definitely needs to be owned in those leagues now. Jackson is also an option in standard leagues, but I'd guess he'd only be rostered if IR spots were available.
His numbers are deceiving because of a bad first outing. Jackson has been great since, and on a good Texas team, Jackson should get plenty of save chances. Another scoreless outing and save in his next outing will likely help him make a bunch of standard league rosters, so keep a close eye on him if you're not ready to add him now.
Dustin May Fantasy Outlook
May was added in 7.02% of leagues and is up to 71.54% overall now.
He's only made one start this season, but is lined up to face the Nationals on Monday. May worked five innings in his first outing, allowing an unearned run on a hit and three walks, while punching out six.
I love the idea of streaming May against the Nationals on Monday, and that could be in any league type. He needs to be rostered in deeper leagues, and a good start on Monday should help him be added in some standard leagues, and he'll be a good streaming option if he remains available going forward.
Chase Dollander Fantasy Outlook
Dollander was added in 6.42% of leagues and sits at 32.64% overall now. He's the Rockies' No. 1 prospect and made his MLB debut on Sunday.
Dollander earned the win after working the first five innings. He gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk, while punching out six. Dollander gave up two homers, and was helped by Colorado scoring 12 runs in the contest.
That game was in Colorado, so all in all, fantasy owners had to be pretty pleased with Dollander's first outing. His next outing is likely to be in San Diego next weekend, which will be another tough test for the youngster.
I have no issues adding him in some deeper leagues, but until we see really good fantasy results from Dollander, he's going to be tough to trust. He might not be startable in home starts either, so it'll take some good outings to get him into standard league territory.
Other Waiver Wire Pitchers
New York Mets' Tylor Megill was added in 6.36% of leagues, while Houston's Hayden Wesneski is up 5.31% and San Francisco's Jordan Hicks got a 5.26% bump. Megill is rostered in 45.69% of leagues, while Wesneski is at 11.22% and Hicks is at 58.22%.
Detroit's Casey Mize was added in 4.57% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 40.82%. Toronto's Chris Bassitt is up 4.15% and sits at 69.45% today.
St. Louis' Matthew Liberatore was added in 3.79% of leagues and is up to 7.65% overall. Kansas City's Michael Lorenzen is rostered in 9.18% of leagues after a 3.01% boost.
Washington's Mitchell Parker is up 2.95%, while Philadelphia's Jesus Luzardo got a 2.94% boost. Parker is owned in 17.86% of leagues, while Luzardo is at 85.97% overall.
Other Waiver Wire Hitters
San Francisco's Jung Hoo Lee was added in 4.59% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 63.97%. Arizona's Geraldo Perdomo is up 4.34% and is owned in 31.33% of leagues now.
Athletics' Jacob Wilson got a 4.12% today, bringing his total mark to 31.63%. Chicago Cubs' Carson Kelly was added in 3.76% of leagues and he's up to 10.7% overall.
Detroit's Spencer Torkelson is up another 3.41% today and is now at 57.65% overall. Los Angeles Dodgers' Michael Conforto was added in 3.35% of leagues, bringing his total to 33.68%.
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom is up 3.3% and is at 71.17% overall. Milwaukee's Sal Frelick is owned in 22.19% of leagues after a 3.17% increase. Colorado's Hunter Goodman is up another 3.01% - he's at 42.6% overall.
