Fantasy Baseball Week 3 Projections and Waiver Wire Hitting Options: Kyren Paris, Byron Buxton, Victor Robles and More

Looking at week 3 fantasy baseball projections to identify some possible streaming options.

It's time for a new week of fantasy baseball, which means we can look at the weekly projections again!

We'll use the FantasySP projections to help you maybe identify a couple waiver wire options. We'll only look at hitters in this story, as FantasySP's Daniel Hepner covers streaming starting pitchers on a daily basis.

Catchers

Toronto's Alejandro Kirk, Minnesota's Ryan Jeffers and Arizona's Gabriel Moreno are all projected for 20 or more fantasy points this coming week.

Kirk is owned in just under 22% of leagues, but is set for 22 points, which is tied for the second-most projected points. He could play up to seven games.

In eight games and 32 plate appearances so far this season, Kirk has eight hits, including a double. He also has two RBIs and three runs scored, while also striking out five times.

Jeffers is rostered in nearly 24% of leagues, while Moreno is at about 61%. Both catchers are projected for 20 points. Jeffers has seven games scheduled, while Moreno has six.

Jeffers has gotten 25 plate appearances over six games so far. He's collected five hits, including a double, while also tallying three RBIs, two walks and a run scored. Jeffers has struck out five times.

Moreno has played in nine games and is up to 27 plate appearances. He's singled for all seven of his hits. Moreno also has an RBI, three walks, five runs scored and has been a strikeout victim five times.

First Basemen

San Francisco's Wilmer Flores, Cleveland's Carlos Santana, Tampa Bay's Jonathan Aranda and Yandy Diaz, Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom and Chicago White Sox' Andrew Vaughn are all projected for 20 or more points.

Flores is owned in just 26% of leagues, but is projected for 23 points, which is tied for third-most among third basemen. He could play up to six games. 

He's played in nine games and gotten 35 plate appearances so far. Flores has tallied nine hits, including four home runs. He also has 12 RBIs, a walk, five runs scored and nine strikeouts so far.

The rest of the first basemen listed in this section are projected for 20 points. Santana is rostered in 22% of leagues, while Aranda is at just 12%. Diaz (85%), Soderstrom (71%) and Vaughn (18%) also are available in at least 15% of leagues. Each of those first basemen has six games this week.

Across nine games and 39 plate appearances, Santana has nine hits, including two doubles and a home run. He also has three RBIs, one stolen base, four walks, six runs scored and seven punchouts.

Aranda has played in eight games and logged 28 plate appearances in the early going. He has eight hits, including a home run and five doubles. Aranda also has three RBIs, two walks, four runs scored and seven strikeouts.

Diaz has gotten 40 plate appearances across nine games so far. He has six hits, including two doubles. Diaz also has an RBI, walk and three runs scored, while having struck out four times.

Soderstrom has racked up 14 hits over his first 42 plate appearances and 10 games. He has four homers and two doubles so far, along with three walks, eight RBIs, seven runs scored and 10 strikeouts.

Vaughn has 31 plate appearances in eight games played so far. He has doubled twice and homered once among his five total hits. Vaughn also has five RBIs, a walk and run scored and six punchouts.

Second Basemen

Kansas City's Jonathan India, Los Angeles Angels' Kyren Paris, Tampa Bay's Brandon Lowe, Miami's Otto Lopez, Milwaukee's Brice Turang and Washington's Luis Garcia Jr. are second basemen projected for 20 fantasy points this coming week.

India is projected for 25 fantasy points, which is the second-most points among second basemen. He's owned in 74% of leagues and has seven games this week.

Paris is rostered in just 17% of leagues, but is projected for 24 points across six games. Lowe is projected for 21 points across six games and is owned in 65% of leagues.

Lopez (64% owned) and Turang (85%) are each projected for 21 fantasy points across six games, while Garcia (77%) is set for 20 points in his six contests.

India has logged 40 plate appearances across nine games so far. He has nine total hits, including two doubles. India also has two RBIs, five walks, four runs scored and just four strikeouts.

Paris has racked up eight hits, including two homers and a triple, in eight games and just 22 plate appearances so far. He also has four RBIs and stolen bases, eight runs scored, three walks and five strikeouts.

Lowe has played in nine games and had 38 plate appearances so far. He has 11 hits, including three homers, along with eight RBIs, two walks and five runs scored. Lowe has struck out on eight occasions.

Lopez has gotten 41 plate appearances across nine games in the early season. He has 10 total hits, with two of those being home runs. Lopez also has seven RBIs, a stolen base, four walks, six runs scored and four strikeouts so far.

Turang is up to 43 plate appearances in his first 10 games of the season. He has 13 hits, including two homers and a double. Turang also has recorded six RBIs, two stolen bases and walks, 10 runs scored and 11 strikeouts.

Garcia has played in seven games and logged 26 plate appearances so far. He has a double and a homer among his four hits, along with three RBIs, a stolen base and walk, two runs scored and five punchouts.

Shortstops

Minnesota's Carlos Correa and Willi Castro, Miami's Xavier Edwards, Arizona's Geraldo Perdomo, Chicago Cubs' Dansby Swanson, St. Louis' Masyn Winn, Houston's Jeremy Pena and Boston's David Hamilton are shortstops projected for 20 fantasy points or more.

Correa is owned in nearly 62% of leagues and is set for 25 fantasy points, which is tied for the fourth-most points among shortstops. He's got seven games scheduled this week. Correa has a double among his four hits, two RBIs, three walks and runs scored and four strikeouts across his first nine games and 35 plate appearances.

Edwards (78% owned) is projected for 25 points across six games. He has nine games played and 41 plate appearances so far. Edwards has three doubles among his nine knocks, along with three RBIs, two stolen bases, four walks and runs scored and 10 punchouts.

Perdomo (31%) is projected for 23 points across six contests. In 10 games and 42 plate appearances so far, Perdomo has 11 hits, 12 RBIs, two stolen bases, three walks, five runs scored and just two strikeouts. He's posted two doubles and a home run.

Swanson (88%) has six games this week and is projected for 22 points. He has played in 12 games and logged 52 plate appearances so far. Swanson has three doubles and three homers among his knocks, along with seven RBIs, a stolen base, six walks, seven runs scored and 10 punchouts.

Winn (60%) is projected for 22 points across six games as well. In nine games and 38 plate appearances so far, Winn has eight singles, two RBIs, four walks, six runs scored and 12 punchouts.

Castro (80%) is projected for 21 points in seven scheduled contests. He's logged three doubles and a homer across his seven knocks in his first 35 plate appearances and nine games played. Castro also has three RBIs, a stolen base, two walks, four runs scored and eight strikeouts so far.

Pena (83%) is projected for 20 points across six contests. In nine games and 35 plate appearances so far, Pena has two homers among his five hits, two RBIs, stolen bases and walks, four runs scored and four punchouts. 

Hamilton (4%) is projected for 20 points across seven games. He's gotten just 11 plate appearances in five games so far, tallying a single, RBI, stolen base, run scored, no walks and four punchouts.

Third Basemen

Kansas City's Maikel Garcia and New York Mets' Mark Vientos are a couple third basemen projected for 20 or more points this week.

Garcia (75% owned) is projected for 24 points across seven games. In his first nine games and 31 plate appearances, Garcia has 10 hits, including three doubles and two homers, six RBIs, a stolen base, two walks, five runs scored and six punchouts.

Vientos (82%) sits at 20 projected points across six possible games. He's logged just four hits in his first 37 plate appearances and nine games. Vientos has two doubles, an RBI, three walks, two runs scored and eight punchouts.

Outfielders

Tampa Bay's Jake Mangum, San Francisco's Jung Hoo Lee, Minnesota's Byron Buxton, Seattles' Victor Robles, Toronto's George Springer, Detroit's Kerry Carpenter, Arizona's Jake McCarthy, Cincinnati's TJ Friedl, St. Louis' Lars Nootbaar and Alec Burleson, Colorado's Brenton Doyle and Minnesota's Matt Wallner are all projected for 20 or more points this coming week.

Mangum (19% owned) is projected for 31 points across six scheduled games. In his first six games and 24 plate appearances, he has two doubles among his 10 knocks, along with four RBIs and stolen bases, a walk, three runs scored and three strikeouts.

Lee (63%) is at 29 points across six games. He's played in eight games and gotten 35 plate appearances so far. Lee has six doubles among his 11 knocks, along with three RBIs and stolen bases, 10 runs scored and six punchouts.

Buxton (49%) is set for 27 points across seven games. The outfielder has two doubles and a homer among his nine games and 35 plate appearances. Buxton also has racked up four RBIs, two stolen bases, a walk, seven runs scored and 11 strikeouts.

Robles (39%) is projected for 25 points across his six games. In 10 games and 46 plate appearances so far, he has three doubles among his 12 knocks. Robles also has three RBIs, runs scored and stolen bases, along with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Springer (75%) is at 24 points and has seven possible games this coming week. He has two doubles, a triple and a homer among his 11 hits. In 10 games and 33 plate appearances overall, Springer also has five RBIs, two stolen bases, four walks and runs scored and 11 punchouts.

Carpenter (73%) is set for 22 points and could play up to six games. He's got a double and three homers among his seven knocks. Carpenter also has eight RBIs, four runs scored, no walks and seven strikeouts in his first nine games and 33 plate appearances.

McCarthy (27%) and Friedl (34%) are projected for 22 points across six games each. McCarthy has no hits, two runs scored, a stolen base, two walks, no runs scored and three strikeouts in his first seven games and 22 plate appearances. Friedl has a homer among his 11 knocks, along with four RBIs, a stolen base, two walks, six runs scored and five strikeouts in his first nine games and 40 plate appearances.

Nootbaar (81%) and Burleson (65%) are both set at 21 points across six games. Nootbaar has two homers and a double among his 13 hits, along with six RBIs and walks, 10 runs scored and five strikeouts in his first nine games and 46 plate appearances. Burleson has played in nine games and gotten 30 plate appearances, tallying two doubles among his eight hits, three RBIs, two walks, five runs scored and three strikeouts.

Doyle (85%) is at 20 projected points and has six games this week. In nine games and 43 plate appearances so far, Doyle has two doubles and a homer among his 11 knocks. He also has five RBIs, two walks, four runs scored and seven punchouts.

Wallner (23%) has seven games he could play in, and is projected for 20 points. He has played in nine games and gotten 35 plate appearances, tallying three doubles and a homer among his eight total hits. Wallner also has an RBI, five walks and runs scored and eight punchouts so far.
