Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups RBs/WRs: Keaton Mitchell, Zach Charbonnet, Quentin Johnston, Tank Dell and More
We finished our ninth football Sunday, and now it's time to hit the waiver wire for Week 10. With Week 9 over, we are really starting to see things take shape around the league. Here, we are going to focus on the best running backs and wide receivers that may be available in your league.
Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups
Running Backs
Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens
Mitchell is a guy we told you to stash a few weeks ago when he was coming off injured reserve and if you did it has now paid off. He had a breakout game in Week 9 and is now a top waiver priority. On nine carries he went off for 138 yards and a TD. That's an average of 15.3 yards per carry. The only pass caught by a running back also went to Mitchell, although, it was for -4 yards. Gus Edwards handled five carries and Justice Hill saw 13. This backfield has been tough to pin down all season, but there is a chance that Mitchell could emerge as a league-winning type star down the stretch.
Zach Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks
Charbonnet has now outsnapped Kenneth Walker in two straight games. It is unclear how much of that had to do with Walker being banged up, but it appears that this backfield is devolving into a committee. Walker did, however, still receive nine carries to Charbonnet's four. Nevertheless, there is a chance that the rookie begins to take over this backfield or at the very least maintains a significant near-50% role.
Royce Freeman, Los Angeles Rams
We told you all week that Freeman would soon be taking over this backfield from Darrell Henderson and in Week 9 he went out and out-carried him 12-10. Freeman was also the more efficient back for the third game in a row, which is every game these two have split the backfield in. This gap will continue to get bigger as Freeman has clearly been the better back. If he's available you should be picking him up and utilizing him over Henderson.
Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons
Arthur Smith has found the hill he is willing to die on and die on it he shall. No matter how ridiculous the decision is, Smith is going to continue to give Allgeier way too many touches. He once again out-touched Bijan Robinson again, much to the dismay of fantasy owners and Falcons' fans alike. On 12 carries he rushed for 39 yards while the infinitely more talented Robinson rushed for 51 yards on 11 carries. Both backs also caught two passes. Robinson added eight receiving yards while Allgeier added -9. The deeper we get into the season, the more it becomes apparent that this team will soon be looking for a new coach.
Wide Receivers
Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers
Full disclosure, this was written prior to Monday Night Football. So we don't know if he fell flat on his face or had a breakout game. Nevertheless, with Joshua Palmer being sent to injured reserve, Johnston needs to be a top priority. He is now the uncontested WR2 in a high-volume passing attack with a quarterback who is capable of massive production. We aren't saying to immediately throw him in your lineup over a proven starter, but he is definitely worth flex consideration with a ton of upside.
Tank Dell, Houston Texans
CJ Stroud exploded in Week 9 and Tank Dell saw 11 targets that he 114 yards and two TDs. This could be a sign of things to come from two very talented young players. We may see this connection for a long time. It's worth noting that Noah Brown also caught all six of his targets for 153 yards and a TD. Stroud isn't going to throw for 470 yards and five TDs every week, however, there is no reason to believe he can't be a prolific fantasy quarterback moving forward.
Demario Douglas, New England Patriots
Douglas continues to ascend as the Patriots' WR1. This week he saw seven targets that he turned into five receptions for 55 yards. His role should only continue to grow as he's the only playmaker they have on the outside. Unfortunately, his upside is capped due to the woeful lack of talent from his quarterback McCorkle Jones. Still, he's an ascending WR1 and should be added in all formats. Come playoff time, we anticipate that he will pull away with the WR1 job and dominate targets.
