12-Team PPR, 2-QB Dynasty Fantasy Football Mock Draft from 4th Position | C.J. Stroud, Garrett Wilson, Jonathan Taylor, Tua Tagovailoa, Jake Ferguson and More

Morgan conducts his seventh fantasy football draft of the year, selecting fourth in a 12-team dynasty setup.

After doing my first dynasty mock draft a couple days ago, I decided to whip another one up today.

This one was a little different. It was a 12-team PPR league with the following starters: two quarterbacks, two running backs, three wide receivers, one tight end and one flex. I decided on 10 bench spots and got the fourth pick in the draft. It was done through the FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator.

Let’s get into it!

Round 1 - C.J. Stroud

The first five picks were quarterbacks (makes sense in a two-QB setup), and I decided on the younger Stroud over Jalen Hurts. He looks to have a bright future, has lots of room for improvement and has a great offense around him already.

Round 2 - Garrett Wilson

Several more quarterbacks went before my next pick, so I decided between a receiver or running back. I tend to like receivers more in dynasties, so I went with Wilson. Christian McCaffrey was the top RB pick, but I went with youth instead.

Round 3 - Jonathan Taylor

I got my running back in round three, and was happy that Taylor fell to me. He’s still only 25 years old, but has dealt with some injuries the past couple seasons. Because I waited to get my running back, I plan to load up at the position in the coming rounds.

Round 4 - Tua Tagovailoa

I got my second quarterback in round four. I was really hoping for Brock Purdy, but he went four picks earlier. Tagovailoa still is a good fantasy player, and has several strong years ahead of him yet.

Round 5 - Jonathon Brooks

I went with a high upside pick in round five with Brooks. He’s very young and has a bright future, as long as he can avoid injuries. Hopefully Carolina can build around him and make him a top-end fantasy option for years to come.

Round 6 - Josh Jacobs

I know Brooks might not be the best back this season, so I made sure I could compete by getting Jacobs. He’s still got a few years of production left, but the pick was really to help me compete this season.

Round 7 - Trey Benson

Benson is another long-term option at RB for me. I think he could carve out a role this season, but only would be start worthy if James Conner were out with an injury. Benson and Brooks give me several years of hope at the position.

Round 8 - Keon Coleman

Coleman has great upside with Josh Allen throwing him the ball, so landing him in the eighth feels like a major steal. Of course, there’s a chance Coleman doesn’t pan out, but the upside is way too good to pass on.

Round 9 - Bo Nix

I went with a third quarterback early with Nix in round nine. I was surprised by how he performed this preseason and think the Broncos might have found their new franchise QB. Right now, he’s just a backup and future fantasy option, but he could either become a trade asset, or make Tagovailoa expendable if Nix excels early in his career.

Round 10 - Ricky Pearsall

Pearsall is one of my favorite rookie wideouts to take in dynasty drafts this season. At some point, it feels like Deebo Samuel Sr. or Brandon Aiyuk are going to leave San Fran, and then Pearsall will have a clear path to fantasy stardom.

Round 11 - Jake Ferguson

I got a starting tight end in round 11 finally with Ferguson. I like him as a dynasty player and think he’ll be a big part of the Cowboys’ offensive plans for the next several seasons.

Round 12 - Jermaine Burton

I think Burton is a sneaky good dynasty pick because of his situation. It doesn’t feel like Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins will both stay long term in Cincy, so Burton will be the No. 2 option to whoever sticks around. In round 12, I love his value here.

Round 13 - Gus Edwards

With a couple of future picks at RB, I needed some more help for this season. Edwards isn’t one of my favorite picks, but he could at least start for the coming year. He’s a nice depth option to Taylor and Jacobs. 

Round 14 - Troy Franklin

I also love Franklin, not only this season, but his long-term outlook. He gets to play with his college quarterback, and I think that helps Franklin become a good fantasy asset for the next several years.

Round 15 - Kimani Vidal

I usually wouldn’t take two backs from the same team, but Edwards is someone who can help this season, while Vidal is more of a future pick. This late in a draft, I like taking chances on lottery picks, and Vidal is indeed that.

Round 16 - Cole Kmet

Before I get back to high upside picks, I needed a backup tight end. Kmet is still just 25, and while his fantasy value has dropped this season, still should be a decent fantasy option from time to time. If he’s not involved in Chicago’s offense going forward, I’d guess Kmet catches on with another franchise.

Round 17 - Javon Baker

New England needs some offensive playmakers, so even though Baker doesn’t look to be a starter right away, he’s got a decent chance to excel for the team in the coming years. Why not take a late chance on him?

Round 18 - Luke McCaffrey

I was shocked to see McCaffrey still available. With the recent Jahan Dotson trade, McCaffrey has a chance to be a fantasy asset in all league types this season. His long-term outlook looks even better with young QB Jayden Daniels around. 

Round 19 - Tucker Kraft

I didn’t really plan to draft three tight ends, but thinking Kmet would not be a big-time asset for too long, I decided I better grab Kraft in the final round. He’s a backup in Green Bay, but showed he’s got some upside when on the field. This is just a lottery ticket, and likely a roster spot I’ll use to stream when needed.

Final Thoughts

My mock was given an 87 out of 100, and I am projected to finish fifth. That’s a B+ grade on FantasyPros.

I like the quarterbacks I ended up with. Stroud and Tagovailoa help me compete this year, and for at least a few more years each, and Nix gives me some long-term hope.

Taylor, Jacobs and Edwards are solid starting running back options for the coming season. Taylor and Jacobs should be starting options for a few more seasons too. Vidal, Benson and Brooks give me promise for the years to come. This could become a position of strength in a hurry.

Wilson and Coleman are my top two starting options at receiver for the season. I’m hoping McCaffrey, Baker, Franklin, Burton or Pearsall could fill that final starting spot throughout the season. I love my long-term outlook at receiver.

Ferguson is my every-week starter at tight end for this season, and hopefully the next several. Kmet gives me another option for this season, and a few more, while Kraft is really just a long-term lottery ticket. I’d probably drop Kraft before the season to add a starting receiver, if needed.

Overall, I feel pretty strong about this dynasty mock draft. I always try to balance competing now, but also having hope for the future, and this mock accomplishes that.
