Quarterbacks
Los Angeles’ Matthew Stafford and Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa lead their teams into the contest.
Stafford has completed 65.9% of his passes for 1,969 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions. He’s not added anything as a runner. Stafford has scored at least 18 points this past two weeks, which lines up when the Rams got their two top receivers back.
Tagovailoa has completed 72.7% of his passes for 948 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s added 44 rushing yards. Since returning from his concussion, Tagovailoa has scored 33 points across two games.
This sets up as a pretty average matchup for Tagovailoa, as Los Angeles allows 16 fantasy points per contest. He’s projected for 19 fantasy points. It’s a tough matchup for Stafford, as Miami allows just 12 points per game. He’s projected for 16 points.
If forced to make a decision between these two, I’d take Tagovailoa, but I’m not as high on him as the projections say. I think he’ll only outscore Stafford by a point or two, and it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Stafford score more tonight.
Running Backs
Kyren Williams is the workhorse back for the Rams. Blake Corum is the only other back with a touch over the past three games, and he has just nine in that span.
De'Von Achane is the lead back for Miami. Raheem Mostert has double-digit touches in three straight, while Jaylen Wright has logged 13 touches over the past three contests.
Williams has rushed for 602 yards and eight touchdowns across 161 attempts this season. He has 116 receiving yards and two scores on 20 grabs and 25 targets. Williams has scored in double figures as a fantasy player in every game, and had scored at least once in every game before week 9.
Corum has 72 rushing yards on 21 attempts this season, while catching two passes for an additional 17 yards.
Achane has 420 rushing yards and two scores on 93 attempts this season. He’s added 302 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 37 receptions and 42 targets. Since Tagovailoa returned, Achane has scored 59 fantasy points over two games.
Mostert has 214 rushing yards and two scores on 55 attempts, along with 71 receiving yards on seven grabs and nine targets. Mostert has scored 25 fantasy points the past two weeks.
Wright has rushed for 208 yards, but no scores, on 42 attempts. He hasn’t caught a pass yet.
The matchup for the Rams’ running backs is very favorable, as Miami allows 25 fantasy points per game. Williams is projected for 21 PPR fantasy points, while Corum is at three. The Dolphins’ backs have an average matchup, with LA giving up 22 points per week. Achane is projected for 21 points, Mostert 10 and Wright doesn’t crack the top 53.
I’d also take Williams first in the favorable matchup - he’s a must-start fantasy player regardless of the matchup. Achane is another must-start player and should be in for a good fantasy showing again tonight.
I like Mostert after that. He was a flex-level option this week, but is a safer play in deeper leagues.
Wright also comes before Corum in my eyes. Neither are real fantasy starting options tonight (outside the deepest of leagues).
Wide Receivers
Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp will lead the Rams’ wideouts in this one. Demarcus Robinson and Jordan Whittington were on the injury report, but are both active. Tutu Atwell and Tyler Johnson are a couple other options.
Tyreek Hill is Miami’s top wideout, but he’s questionable with a late-week wrist injury. Jaylen Waddle, Odell Beckham Jr. and Malik Washington are the only other receivers to play in each of the past three games.
Kupp has 302 yards and two touchdowns across 34 receptions and 49 targets this season. He’s gotten 22 targets over the past two weeks, with 14 coming a week ago.
Nacua has 152 yards on 12 catches and 17 targets this season. He’s gotten 13 targets over the past two games, with last week’s outing cut short because of an ejection.
Robinson went for 94 yards and two scores on six grabs and nine targets with Nacua out for a good portion of last week’s game. He had six targets the previous two weeks.
Johnson got five targets in that game, but just one in the week that Nacua and Kupp returned in. Atwell had three targets last week, and two the week before that.
Hill has 446 yards, but only one score, on 34 catches and 55 targets this season. Since Tagovailoa returned, Hill has 14 targets across two games.
Waddle is at 310 yards and a touchdown across 28 catches and 38 targets. He’s got eight targets over the past two weeks, but only had two last week.
Beckham has 15 yards on three catches and seven targets this season. He got three of those targets last week. No other Miami wideout had a target last week.
It’s a slightly above-average matchup for the Dolphins’ wideouts, with LA allowing 34 fantasy points per game. Miami’s defense surrenders just 26 points a week, one of the best marks in the league coming into week 10.
Kupp is projected for 17 PPR points, while Nacua is at 16 and Hill 15. Waddle is at 11 points, while Robinson checks in with eight. No other wideouts crack the top 54.
If Hill is able to suit up, I actually like him the most in tonight’s game, although Nacua and Kupp are very close. I like Nacua to outperform Kupp, but again just ever so slightly.
Waddle is next for me, and I wouldn’t mind giving him a flex start in a standard league given the matchup - I’d feel much better playing him in a deeper league though. If Hill is out, I think Waddle should be pretty confidently started in all leagues.
Robinson, Whittington, Beckham, Johnson, Atwell is how I’d round things out, but they are all just deep-league options in my eyes. If Hill is out, I’d bump Beckham above Whittington and Robinson, but still not want to start Beckham outside deeper leagues.
Tight Ends
Jonnu Smith is the best fantasy TE for the Dolphins. He has 302 yards and a touchdown on 30 catches and 40 targets. Smith has six targets in each of the past two weeks.
Colby Parkinson is the best LA tight end. He’s got 214 yards on 23 receptions and 36 targets this season. Parkinson only has four targets over the past three games, with zero in last week’s contest.
It’s a favorable matchup for Smith, with LA allowing 15 fantasy points per game. Smith is projected for 11 PPR fantasy points. Miami gives up 10 fantasy points a game, which sets up as a below-average matchup for Parkinson. The LA tight end is projected for just five fantasy points.
Smith is also my favorite fantasy tight end tonight, and I like him more than a lot of the receivers and a few running backs. I’d avoid playing Parkinson in any league if I could.
Kickers
Joshua Karty kicks for LA, while Jason Sanders is the Miami kicker.
Karty is 11-of-13 on his field goals and 15-of-17 on his extra points. Sanders is 14-of-18 on his field goals and has made all 10 of his extra points.
Sanders and Karty are both projected for seven fantasy points. I like Karty slightly more tonight, but wouldn’t mind playing either guy.
Defenses/Special Teams
So far this season, the Rams are allowing 360.8 yards and 24.3 points per game. Miami gives up 303.1 yards and 23.4 points.
Los Angeles has 11 takeaways and nine giveaways this season. The Dolphins have just six takeaways and nine giveaways.
Both defenses are projected for six fantasy points. I’ve gone back and forth on this game all week, but I think the Rams get the job done. I still wouldn’t mind playing either D/ST tonight.
