The New York Jets season is in a tailspin. They are more or less just playing out the season, and are already looking forward to 2025 and beyond.

While the Jets’ season is basically over, their players can still be useful to fantasy teams, and that’s what we’re here to discuss today. We’ll look at a couple players who had their injury statuses updated on Friday.

Hall Doubtful, Lazard Expected Back

The big news is that running back Breece Hall has been listed as doubtful for the team’s week 14 game against the Dolphins. Wide receiver Allen Lazard is expected to return from the injured reserve list, but no official transaction has happened yet.

Like the Jets overall, Hall’s season has been underwhelming. Across 12 games so far, Hall has 692 yards and four scores on 164 rushing attempts. He’s added 401 receiving yards and two scores on 46 receptions and 62 targets to still be a usable fantasy back - he ranks 13th overall in PPR formats in fantasy points per week.

While Hall hasn’t necessarily been a locked-in weekly starter, pretty much every week this season, Hall was in fantasy lineups. Not having him in a week where six teams were already on a bye is a big-time blow for fantasy owners, especially those fighting for a playoff spot.

Lazard hasn’t played since week 7. Across the first part of the season, Lazard recorded 412 yards and five scores on 30 catches and 44 targets.

Those are pretty solid numbers for a player who came into the season playing a distant second fiddle to Garrett Wilson, and the trade for Davante Adams was already likely to diminish Lazard’s fantasy outlook.

Week 14 Outlooks

With Hall out of the lineup, Braelon Allen looks poised to get the start.

Allen has 240 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 67 attempts so far this season. He’s added 97 receiving yards and a score on 12 grabs and 18 targets.

Isaiah Davis is likely to serve as the top backup RB, but only has five carries and nine touches on the season. He did get a season-high four looks last week, and caught a touchdown on one of them.

Both backs are rookies, and with Hall out, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jets gave each guy some run to see what they might have for the coming years. I’d guess Allen is the lead back, but would also anticipate Davis getting several looks, as long as the Jets aren’t playing from way behind.

The matchup ahead for the rookie backs is pretty average, as Miami allows 23 fantasy points per game to opposing backs. Allen is the RB I’d want to start, but I’d only really want to if it was a deeper league. Davis could be a desperation play in a deep league with all the byes happening this week.

Adding Lazard back into the pass catcher mix likely means a little less work for Wilson and Adams each, while tight end Tyler Conklin could lose one of the few targets he’s been getting.

Wilson has struggled over the past three games, finishing with 41 yards in two contests and just 18 in the other. Adams has been heating up a bit, with two straight games over 65 yards. Conklin had 32 yards last week, but just 12 the previous three games combined before that.

The Dolphins are one of the toughest defenses to go up against for a wide receiver, as they allow just 27 points a week. Miami is average in slowing opposing tight ends, giving up 13 points per contest.

I wrote earlier in the week about how I liked Adams over Wilson. I’d stick with that and want Adams among the Jets’ pass catchers, but Lazard’s return makes Adams an even riskier fantasy starter. With so many bye weeks, he’s probably going to start in a lot of leagues this week.

Wilson also becomes a riskier starting option this week if Lazard is indeed activated. He’ll probably still start in a lot of leagues, but I’d temper my expectations for Wilson.

Lazard would be a really risky fantasy starter in his first week back, especially in the tougher matchup. I’d probably try to shy away from him in deeper leagues too, but again, all these bye weeks might not leave you with a better choice, and Lazard and quarterback Aaron Rodgers definitely have a connection.

Conklin is below the streaming line most weeks, but was a bit of a sneaky good option this week with so many others off or out. Lazard being back makes Conklin another risky starting option. I’d only want to play him in a deeper league, if possible.

I didn’t talk about Rodgers earlier, but I’ll wrap up by quickly mentioning him.

I wouldn’t want to start him this week, regardless of the league type. His matchup is tough, and I just don’t trust this Jets’ offense to be good most weeks now.
