2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 3 Waiver Wire Pick Ups! Franchy Cordero, Tylor Megill Turning Heads!

Ismail Albiz Apr 16th 1:19 PM EDT.

As the 2023 MLB season enters its fourth week, fantasy baseball owners are getting comfortable scouting the waiver wire for the best waiver wire pickups to enhance their squads. In a long season, it is crucial to get into the swing of things early and make it a habit of constantly improving one’s team. In this article, we will take a look at the top fantasy baseball pickups heading into Week 3 of the 2023 season.

Week 3 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups

OF Austin Hays, Baltimore Orioles (48% owned)

Hays has been on an absolute tear lately. He has been hitting the ball with great timing and doing a good job of elevating the baseball. Recently, he had a four-hit game against the Athletics to bring up his batting average to .333. Hays is known to feed off right-handed pitching and look for him to continue his amazing home run pace and keep his batting average around the .300 barrier. More importantly, make sure to play him every day he suits up in the lineup.

SS Jon Berti, Miami Marlins (45% owned)

Berti has lightning speed and recently has been able to put bat to ball. As a matter of fact, he has been able to record a hit in six of the last seven games. The versatile infielder can line up anywhere in the infield and is also a threat on the basepaths. Look for Berti to get more playing time and fill in at SS due to his great start to the season. More importantly, he is becoming a valuable player each day due to his plate appearances, running along the base paths, and his defense. Make sure to leave the versatile infielder in your lineup.

OF Franchy Cordero, New York Yankees (34% Owned)

Franchy Cordero has been on a roll this season feasting against right-handed pitching. Recently, he hit a fourth home run in his last 5 games, and due to his tremendous play, the Yankees can take their time with Giancarlo Stanton to prevent aggravating his injury. While Cordero does hit the ball hard often, he is also known to strike out at an alarming rate. However, his recent streak suggests that he is seeing the ball well, and the ball seems to be clearing the fence a lot during away games. More importantly, continue to play as he can provide versatility on defense as well as he can play first base along with the corner outfield positions.

SP Drey Jameson, Arizona Diamondbacks (30% Owned)

While Arizona is still in a feeling-out phase for Jameson, he looked really good in a shortened outing as he allowed only 3 hits in 4 innings of work over 53 pitches. Look for him to remain in the starting rotation, as he has a combination of pitches to get batters out.

SP Kris Bubic, Kansas City Royals (22% Owned)

If you are looking for an ace with great velocity, look no further than Kris Bubic. The left-hander was instrumental a week ago when he struck out During the outing, he struck out 9 batters, without issuing a free pass. More importantly, he was quite instrumental as he was able to alter velocity while using his combination of pitches that he has in his arsenal. While he is coming off a shaky start against the Braves allowing 5 runs and 10 hits, look for him to rebound nicely in his next start. Prior to the rough outing, he had an era of 1.06.

SP Tylor MeGill, New York Mets (40% owned)

Megill has been quite consistent since the start of the season. The hard-throwing pitcher already has 3 wins on the season, and has 13 strikeouts over 16 innings pitched. As Megill has been pitching well, even with the potential return of Justin Verlander, look for Megill to keep his spot in the starting rotation as the Mets look to improve their overall record and stay above .500

SP Mackenzie Gore, Washington Nationals (30% owned)

Mackenzie Gore has been absolutely lights out this season. In his second victory of the season, he struck out 6 batters while walking 2 hitters. While he does generally have a good command of his pitches, he does experience trouble in walking hitters. Also worth noting is that he is coming off a shaky start against the Angels. He had a tough time with his mechanics as he exited the game in the fourth inning after throwing about 90 pitches. He did manage to strike out 6 hitters, he also walked 3 hitters. Despite the shaky outing, he has an ERA of 3.00 after three starts. Consequently, look for him to keep his spot in the starting rotation and return to his dominant form in his next start.
