Happy Fourth of July everybody! While most of us have the day off, the MLB has a full slate of action on tap.

While our baseball coverage will be a bit limited today, I at least wanted to go over the top performers from Wednesday, July 3. It’s time to go over how pitchers fared after already looking at the top hitters.

White Sox 8, Guardians 2

Erick Fedde moved to 6-3 after pitching the first six innings for Chicago. He allowed a run on three hits and three walks, while striking out three. Fedde has a 3.13 earned run average for the season.

Gavin Williams allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings in his start for Cleveland. He struck out a pair.

Red Sox 7, Marlins 2

Brayan Bello bumped his record to 8-5 after striking out seven over 6 2/3 innings. He gave up a run on seven hits and one walk.

Brennan Bernardino and Chris Martin earned holds before Boston pulled away.

Trevor Rogers took the loss and fell to 1-9 overall. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks over three frames, while striking out six.

Pirates 5, Cardinals 4 (10 inn.)

Jared Jones started for Pittsburgh and worked the first five innings. He allowed a run on four hits and two walks, while striking out five. Jones has a 3.56 ERA this season.

Kyle Nicolas and Carmen Mlodzinski earned holds before Colin Holderman was charged with a blown save. Aroldis Chapman got the win despite allowing an unearned run in the top of the 10th inning.

Miles Mikolas started and worked six innings for St. Louis, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out four and walked none.

Andrew Kittredge was charged with the loss, and JoJo Romero was tagged with a blown save.

Nationals 7, Mets 5

Mitchell Parker allowed five runs on five hits in his start for Washington. He struck out five over six innings.

Jacob Barnes pitched next and earned the win. Robert Garcia and Hunter Harvey earned holds before Kyle Finnegan picked up his 23rd save.

Christian Scott started for New York, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out a pair.

Adam Ottavino earned a hold before Jake Diekman was charged with the blown save and loss.

Reds 3, Yankees 2

Andrew Abbott improved to 8-6 after pitching 6 1/3 innings for Cincinnati. He allowed a run on three hits and four walks, while striking out a pair. Abbott has a 3.28 ERA this season.

Fernando Cruz, Lucas Sims and Justin Wilson all earned holds before Alexis Diaz picked up his 19th save of the season.

Carlos Rodon took the loss and fell to 9-6 overall. He allowed three runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out eight.

Astros 9, Blue Jays 2

Ronel Blanco started for Houston and pitched the first 5 2/3 innings. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Tayler Scott pitched next and was charged with the blown save. He got the win also after Houston pulled way ahead.

Yusei Kikuchi allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in his start for Toronto. He struck out five over 5 2/3 innings.

Zach Pop pitched next and took his third loss of the season.

Braves 3, Giants 1

Chris Sale improved to 11-3 after striking out nine over six innings for Atlanta. He allowed a run on three hits and two walks. Sale’s ERA is down to 2.71.

A.J. Minter and Joe Jimenez earned holds before Raisel Iglesias claimed his 21st save.

Jordan Hicks took the loss and fell to 4-5. He gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks over five frames. Hicks struck out six.

Phillies 5, Cubs 3

Zack Wheeler struck out seven batters over six innings in his start for Philadelphia. He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks and now has a 2.74 ERA.

Matt Strahm was charged with a blown save, but also got the win after Philly pulled ahead. Orion Kerkering picked up a hold before Jose Alvarado got his 13th save of the season.

Shota Imanaga allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in his outing for Chicago. He struck out eight.

Tyson Miller eventually took the loss on the mound.

Padres 6, Rangers 4

Adam Mazur allowed four runs on seven hits across four innings in his start for San Diego. He struck out four.

Adrian Morejon got five outs and the win. Jeremiah Estrada earned a hold before Robert Suarez got his 21st save of the season.

Jon Gray gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings for Texas. He struck out a pair.

Jacob Latz was charged with a blown save before Dane Dunning took the loss.

Royals 4, Rays 2

Michael Wacha struck out eight over six innings and improved to 5-6 after getting the win for Kansas City. He allowed a run on two hits and three walks.

John Schreiber, Angel Zerpa and Chris Stratton all earned holds before James McArthur got the final five outs and his 15th save.

Ryan Pepiot fell to 4-5 after taking the loss. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings.

Tigers 9, Twins 2

Keider Montero worked the first 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first win for Detroit. He allowed two runs on six hits and a walk, while striking out four.

David Festa took the loss after allowing seven runs on nine hits across five frames. He struck out six batters.

Brewers 3, Rockies 0

Colin Rea improved to 8-2 and lowered his ERA to 3.34 after tossing seven scoreless innings for Milwaukee. He allowed six hits, while striking out four and walking none.

Jakob Junis covered the final two innings and earned his first save.

Dakota Hudson worked the first 4 2/3 innings for Colorado, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks. He struck out four.

Peter Lambert tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Rockies.

Athletics 5, Angels 0

Joey Estes tossed a complete game shutout for Oakland. He allowed five hits and one walk, while striking out four. Estes only needed 92 pitches to get through the game.

Davis Daniel took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out three.

Diamondbacks 12, Dodgers 4

Cristian Mena worked the first three innings for Arizona, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out two.

Bryce Jarvis got the next seven outs and earned the win.

Gavin Stone started and made it three innings for Los Angeles. He allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks, while striking out three.

Ryan Yarbrough took the loss after allowing two runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Orioles 4, Mariners 1

Dean Kremer improved to 4-4 after striking out eight over five scoreless innings for Baltimore. He gave up two hits and two walks.

Jacob Webb and Cionel Perez earned holds before Craig Kimbrel claimed his 21st save.

Logan Gilbert took the loss after giving up four runs over 5 1/3 innings. He allowed six hits and three walks, while striking out six.
