Ben Rice's Legendary Surge Cements His Must-Start Status in Fantasy Lineups

Ben Rice has been on an absolute tear, capturing AL Player of the Week honors and batting .356 with a 1.042 OPS over his last 14 days. The second-place Yankees (36-25) have heavily relied on his breakout bat, slotting him in as their primary designated hitter. With Giancarlo Stanton sidelined and Aaron Judge nursing a sore shoulder, Rice's everyday role in the middle of the lineup is incredibly secure.

While our season projection originally pegged Rice for a modest .244 average and 26 home runs, his actual 2026 campaign has yielded a sterling .304 average and 17 homers through 56 games. While some batting average regression is expected based on his career baselines, his elite plate discipline and strong underlying power metrics suggest this high-caliber production is largely sustainable.

For the remainder of the week, Rice faces a highly favorable matchup on Thursday against Cleveland's Slade Cecconi, who carries a 5.25 ERA, before a tougher weekend series against Boston's rotation featuring Sonny Gray and Ranger Suarez. Despite those stiffer weekend tests, his elite form makes him impossible to bench. Start him with confidence.
