Happy Fourth of July everybody! While most of us have the day off, the MLB has a full slate of action on tap.

While our baseball coverage will be a bit limited today, I at least wanted to go over the top performers from Wednesday, July 3. We’ll start by looking at the top hitters in this story - check back soon for a story on how pitchers fared.

White Sox 8, Guardians 2

Martin Maldonado hit a two-run home run for Chicago. He finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored in total.

Luis Robert Jr. had two hits, a walk and two runs scored for the White Sox. Lenyn Sosa had three hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Tommy Pham had two hits and a run scored. 

Chicago’s Andrew Benintendi drove in two runs on a hit. Eloy Jimenez walked twice. Nicky Lopez had a hit, walk, RBI and run scored.

Brayan Rocchio hit a solo homer for Cleveland. He had two total hits in the contest.

Red Sox 7, Marlins 2

Ceddanne Rafaela drove in three runs on two hits to power Boston to victory. Rafael Devers had two hits, RBIs and runs scored, along with a walk.

Masataka Yoshida drove in two runs on two hits, walked once and scored a run for the Red Sox. Tyler O'Neill had two hits, one walk and two runs scored. Connor Wong added two knocks and stole a base.

Rob Refsnyder walked twice and scored once for Boston. Romy Gonzalez had a hit, stolen base and a walk.

Jesus Sanchez had three of the nine Miami hits. He also drove in a run. Bryan De La Cruz had a hit and a walk.

Pirates 5, Cardinals 4 (10 inn.)

Rowdy Tellez hit a solo home run for Pittsburgh. He had three total hits and two runs scored.

Bryan Reynolds, Oneil Cruz and Ke'Bryan Hayes all had two hits and an RBI for the Pirates. Hayes also stole a base. Andrew McCutchen and Nick Gonzales each had a hit, walk and run scored.

Willson Contreras hit a two-run homer for St. Louis. He also walked twice.

Masyn Winn led the Cardinals with three hits and an RBI. Paul Goldschmidt added two hits and stole a base. Alec Burleson had a hit, walk, RBI and run scored.

Nationals 7, Mets 5

Luis Garcia Jr. hit two homers (a three-run shot and solo bomb) to power Washington. He also walked and scored a third run.

James Wood had two hits, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored for the Nationals. Jesse Winker delivered two hits and scored a run.

Mark Vientos and Francisco Lindor hit two-run homers for New York, while Tyrone Taylor added a solo blast. 

Reds 3, Yankees 2

Noelvi Marte hit a two-run home run for Cincinnati, while Stuart Fairchild added a solo homer. Tyler Stephenson had a hit, walk and run scored.

Anthony Volpe drove in two runs on a hit for New York. Juan Soto had a hit and two walks, while Austin Wells had two walks and a run scored. DJ LeMahieu had a hit and a walk.

Astros 9, Blue Jays 2

Yordan Alvarez hit a solo home run for Houston. He had three hits, three RBIs, a walk and three runs scored in total.

Chas McCormick had a hit and two runs scored for the Astros. Jon Singleton had a hit, walk and two runs scored. Yainer Diaz had three hits and RBIs, along with a walk.

Alex Bregman had two walks and a run scored for Houston. Jeremy Pena drove in a run on a hit and was plunked by a pitch.

Daulton Varsho had two hits and an RBI for Toronto. George Springer had two walks and a run scored.

Braves 3, Giants 1

Austin Riley had two hits and RBIs for Atlanta. Adam Duvall had three hits and an RBI.

Travis d'Arnaud had two knocks for the Braves. Marcell Ozuna had a hit, walk and run scored.

Matt Chapman had two hits, a walk and an RBI for San Francisco.

Phillies 5, Cubs 3

Alec Bohm hit a two-run homer for Philadelphia, while Rafael Marchan added a solo shot. Bohm had another hit and run scored, while Marchan posted a second knock.

Trea Turner had two hits and runs scored for Philly. 

Pete Crow-Armstrong drove in two runs on two hits and also stole a base for Chicago. Cody Bellinger had two hits, a walk and an RBI.

Ian Happ had a hit, walk and two runs scored for the Cubs. Michael Busch had two hits and a run scored. Christopher Morel had a hit and was plunked by a pitch.

Padres 6, Rangers 4

Manny Machado and David Peralta each hit a two-run homer for San Diego. 

Jurickson Profar and Jake Cronenworth each had two hits, one walk, a stolen base and a run scored for the Padres. Donovan Solano had two hits and a run scored. Jackson Merrill drove in a run on two hits and also stole a base.

Nathaniel Lowe had two hits for Texas. Wyatt Langford had a hit, walk and run scored.

Royals 4, Rays 2

Bobby Witt Jr. drove in a run on two hits and a walk and also scored twice for Kansas City.

Vinnie Pasquantino had two hits and an RBI for the Royals. Salvador Perez drove in two runs on a hit and a walk. MJ Melendez had a hit and a walk.

Isaac Paredes hit a solo homer for Tampa Bay - he also walked twice. Amed Rosario drove in a run on two hits, while Ben Rortvedt had a hit and a walk.

Tigers 9, Twins 2

Carson Kelly hit a grand slam for Detroit. Riley Greene and Matt Vierling each added two-run blasts, while Wenceel Perez hit a solo shot. Vierling scored a second run, while Greene finished with three hits and two runs scored.

Colt Keith had two hits and runs scored for the Tigers. 

Christian Vazquez hit a solo homer for Minnesota and finished with two hits total. Brooks Lee also had two hits and an RBI.

Willi Castro, Carlos Correa and Jose Miranda had a hit and a walk for the Twins. Castro was also hit by a pitch.

Brewers 3, Rockies 0

Christian Yelich hit a solo homer among his two hits and also walked once for Milwaukee.

Brice Turang had three hits and a run scored, while William Contreras added three knocks for the Brewers.

Brendan Rodgers, Brenton Doyle and Jake Cave all had two hits for Colorado. Cave also stole a base.

Athletics 5, Angels 0

Brent Rooker and Max Schuemann each hit solo home runs for Oakland. Rooker had three hits, while Schuemann also walked.

Brett Harris drove in two runs on a hit for the Athletics. Zack Gelof had a hit, walk and run scored.

Matt Thaiss had two of the five Los Angeles hits. Willie Calhoun had a hit and a walk.

Diamondbacks 12, Dodgers 4

Christian Walker homered twice (a three-run homer and solo bomb) for Arizona. He finished with four hits, a walk and three runs scored.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Gabriel Moreno hit two-run homers for Arizona. Gurriel had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored in total, while Moreno had three total knocks.

Corbin Carroll had a hit, walk and two runs scored for Arizona. Jake McCarthy had a hit, stolen base and two runs scored. Geraldo Perdomo had two hits, an RBI and a stolen base.

Eugenio Suarez had two hits, two walks, two RBIs and a run scored for the Diamondbacks. Ketel Marte had a hit, two walks and a run scored. 

Freddie Freeman hit a three-run blast for Los Angeles, while Teoscar Hernandez added a solo bomb. Freeman had two hits and two walks in the contest. Andy Pages had a hit and a walk.

Orioles 4, Mariners 1

Ryan O'Hearn hit a solo homer for Baltimore. He had two hits, a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored in total.

Ramon Urias had a hit, walk and run scored for the Orioles.

Cal Raleigh hit a solo homer for Seattle.
