Fantasy Baseball Hitters Trending Upward Over Past Seven Days: Christian Walker, Christian Yelich, Yordan Alvarez, Nathaniel Lowe, Heliot Ramos and More
Taking a look at the MLB hitters who are excelling over the past seven days.
A few times already this MLB season, I’ve put together stories on hitters and pitchers who are either excelling or struggling.
I typically look at things over the past 30 days, but looking at how players are performing over the past week is what a lot of fantasy owners are looking for, so that’s what we’re going to do today.
Starting pitchers only could get two starts in a seven-day span, so we’ll focus only on hitters for these stories. If it’s well received, it could be something that’s done at the end of every week the rest of the fantasy season.

Hitters Trending Up
The player with the most hits over the past seven days is Arizona Diamondbacks’ Christian Walker. He has 13 knocks in just five contests.
Walker hit five home runs and three doubles among those hits, along with driving in 11 runs and scoring eight times. He walked four times and struck out just once.
Walker’s trade value has skyrocketed and it makes him a great sell high trade candidate right now. He does have pretty good numbers over the course of the season, and didn’t cost a very high draft pick, so I’d actually prefer to keep him and enjoy his strong fantasy season.
Milwaukee Brewers’ William Contreras and Chicago White Sox’s Lenyn Sosa each have 11 hits over the past week.
Contreras is owned in every fantasy league and has been one of the top fantasy hitters all season. He has a double and homer over that stretch, along with two RBIs and three runs scored. Contreras has walked once and struck out twice.
For any fantasy owners who were doubting that Contreras could keep things rolling all season, he eased a lot of the doubts over the past week. You’d love to see him hit for more power, drive in runs and score, but with a higher average going forward, those things should even out over time.
Sosa is barely owned in any fantasy leagues and was part of my waiver wire story earlier today. He has three doubles and two home runs among his 11 knocks, along with six RBIs, five runs scored, one walk and two strikeouts.
Sosa is really only a good waiver wire option in deeper leagues and dynasties, but he’s at least worth keeping an eye on to see if he can remain hot at the plate.
Minnesota Twins’ Jose Miranda and Milwaukee’s Christian Yelich are at 10 hits each in the past seven days.
Miranda was also part of the waiver wire story. He has three doubles among his hits, along with five RBIs, six runs scored, one walk and two strikeouts.
His season numbers (mentioned in the waiver wire story) are a lot better than you probably think, which makes Miranda a pretty good waiver wire option in standard leagues right now. If you are interested in grabbing him, do it now before he cools off.
If not for missing a couple weeks with an injury, Yelich would be in the running for one of the best fantasy hitters in the game. He’s lacking a big home run total, but has a high average and good RBI and run scored totals.
In the past seven days, Yelich has two doubles and homers and one triple among those 10 hits. He’s also got three RBIs, five runs scored, three walks, four strikeouts and two stolen bases.
He’s not the MVP-caliber player he was a few years back because of the lack of home runs, but Yelich is still a very good fantasy player, and probably underrated in that regard right now. He can score fantasy points in a lot of different ways, and probably would cost a good bit in a trade, but he’d still probably be worth it (as long as you aren’t overpaying big time).
Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez has been fantastic over the past seven days, getting on base 15 times.
Alvarez has eight hits, including three home runs and two doubles. He’s drove in eight runs, scored 10 times, walked on seven occasions and struck out just once.
Alvarez’s hot streak has his trade value inside the top-10 players right now. That’s just slightly above his ADP, so there probably isn’t enough value there to try to “sell high.” Just enjoy the fantasy beast that Alvarez is.
Chicago Cubs’ Ian Happ has 10 RBIs over the past seven days (six games).
Happ has three home runs and two doubles among his eight total hits. Along with his 10 RBIs, he’s scored six times, walked on four occasions and struck out five times.
Happ is a very streaky hitter and now is one of his good stretches. He’s available in about 10% of leagues for the fantasy owners who want to try to capitalize on his hot streak. Now might also not be a bad time to see if you can sell him high in a standard league.
Boston Red Sox’s Rafael Devers and Texas Rangers’ Nathaniel Lowe are at eight RBIs each in the past seven days, which was just five games each for both players.
Devers had six hits in that time. He tripled and homered once, scored four runs, walked on four occasions and struck out five times.
Devers is inside the top 15 on the trade value chart, which is just a few spots above his original ADP. You could try to flip him for another great fantasy hitter, but I don’t think you’d be able to “sell high.”
Lowe has three home runs and a double among his nine total hits over the past seven days. He scored five runs, walked once and struck out four times.
Lowe was an end-of-the-roster fantasy player at the beginning of the season, but really hasn’t been anywhere near that level until recently. Now would be the time to add Lowe, who is still available in 42% of fantasy leagues.
Arizona’s Ketel Marte continues to shine at the plate. He had seven hits and six walks over the past seven days (five games).
He doubled among his hits and struck out only three times. He drove in three runs, scored four times and also stole a base.
Marte was drafted around pick 50, but has been inside the top 25 on the trade value chart for several weeks now. At this point, he should be viewed as one of the league’s top fantasy hitters instead of a possible trade option.
Tampa Bay Rays’ Isaac Paredes and San Francisco Giants’ Heliot Ramos both got on base at a .500 clip over the past week (five games each).
Paredes had six hits, including two homers and doubles and one triple, five RBIs, four runs scored, six walks and two strikeouts over the past week.
Paredes is outperforming his ADP by quite a bit, but seeing his recent hot streak, it’d be hard for me to deal him away. I’d just enjoy the fantasy player he is and hope he can continue things for most of the season.
Ramos is a different story after not being a part of the top-400 players drafted this spring. He’s currently ranked 130th on the trade value chart.
In the past week, Ramos has nine hits, including two homers and doubles, three walks, five RBIs and runs, three strikeouts and one walk.
He was a hot waiver wire option several weeks ago and probably should have a much higher own percentage than 76 looking at his season numbers. You might be able to trade him, but I’d much rather roll with Ramos for as long as I could, because you aren’t likely to get a great return for a one-time waiver wire pickup.
