Yordan Alvarez is in peak MVP form as he anchors the Astros lineup

Yordan Alvarez continues to dominate as Houston's primary designated hitter, batting an incredible .375 with six home runs over his last 11 games. Despite a minor back spasm scare in late May, he is fully active and anchoring a fourth-place Astros team currently sitting at 28-35. His elite presence is keeping the offense afloat while key teammates Jose Altuve and Yainer Diaz remain sidelined on the injured list.

Over his last 30 days, Alvarez has posted a solid .289 average and nine home runs, pushing his season total to 21 blasts. While our baseline model projected 30 homers on the year, his actual performance is heavily outpacing our projections and matching his elite career norms.
