Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups Week 14: Jake Browning, Keaton Mitchell, Elijah Moore and More
Football Sunday is almost here, and these are the guys that may still be out there for you on waiver wires.
The waiver wire period has come and gone and you may have missed out on the guy you wanted. The waiver wire darlings everyone was clamoring for are long gone and you're still looking to fill out your roster and maybe even your lineup. These are the late waiver wire adds that you should be picking up. Everyone listed is rostered in less than 50% of leagues.
Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups
Quarterbacks
Jake Browning. Cincinnati Bengals
Rostered: 10.5%
Browning came out last week and looked incredible on Monday Night Football. He ended up winning AFC Offensive Player of the Week with 354 yards and a TD. If you have a chance to pick him up now you probably should. Even if you don't need to stream a QB this week, he has an outstanding playoff schedule as well. Assuming you don't have an elite QB1, Browning could be an excellent option off your bench for the remainder of the season. If he was just a one-week wonder you can always just cut him.
Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts
Rostered: 10.0%
Minshew isn't super consistent, but he has a pretty decent ceiling. Last week he threw for 312 yards and two TDs with no picks. He's more than capable of doing that on any given week. This week, he takes on the Bengals, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. If you are looking to stream somebody this week, Minshew is a solid guy to plug into your lineup.
Running Backs
Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens
Rostered: 23.4%
Do not leave Mitchell on your waiver wire if he's sitting there. I don't care if you need him this week or not. He's going to be a massive part of the Ravens' offense coming out of the bye week. He'll be a league winner down the stretch and you want to be the one to own him. Both because he could help your team win and because you don't want to run into him in the playoffs.
Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears
Rostered: 2.6%
Johnson is another back coming off a late bye who looks poised to take over a starting job. In a bit of a surprise, it was Johnson and not Khalil Herbert who led the Bears' backfield in Week 12 with D'Onta Foreman out. Even with Foreman set to return, we still anticipate Johnson leading the way for this backfield. The Bears have no reason not to turn to their young more dynamic back at this point in the season. He doesn't have the upside of Mitchell but could still hold a lot of value in the fantasy playoffs.
Wide Receivers
Elijah Moore, Cleveland Browns
Rostered: 20.0%
Moore is an option you can plug in this week and potentially get a monster game out of. Joe Flacco is looking like he could get another start in Week 14 and Moore was his top target last week. He was targeted 12 times last week and caught four passes for 84 yards. This week, Amari Cooper is not expected to play due to a concussion so Moore could see even more targets. If he can be just a bit more efficient this week, he could be a strong WR2. However, if Flacco isn't the starter then things could get a bit shaky.
Noah Brown, Houston Texans
Rostered: 25%
With Tank Dell out for the season, Brown shouldn't have this low of an ownership percentage. We've already seen him look like a fantasy star this season and there's no reason to believe he won't return to that with all the targets that were opened up due to the loss of Dell. This may be a tough week against the New York Jets, however, it could work out for him if Sauce Gardner is locked onto Nico Collins. It's crazy that more people haven't picked him back up.
Tight Ends
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
Rostered: 13.2%
Johnson could be a great streaming option this week. Taysom Hill is looking very questionable for Week 14, which would open up more opportunities for Johnson. Jameis Winston potentially starting could help him make some more big plays down the seam as well. Even if Derek Carr somehow plays after suffering his second concussion, Johnson should still be a strong option if Hill is sidelined.
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
Rostered: 14.3%
Likely hasn't done a ton for fantasy owners since Mark Andrews went down, however, in Week 12 prior to the team's bye week, he did see six targets and led the team in receiving with 40 yards on four receptions. We expect the opportunities to continue and the bye week could have given the team time to more properly integrate him into the game plan.
