Top Week 4 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups
Matt Strahm – P - Philadelphia Phillies – (30% owned)
Strahm is off to a decent start to the season. He has been using his combination of weapons quite nicely. He has 16 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. More importantly, he has a win this season and has an ERA of under 3. Also, opposing hitters have had a tough time picking up his stuff as the batting average against has been quite low. Look for him to stay in the rotation and offer 5 innings of work on average, if he is able to use his arsenal of weapons well.
Elias Diaz – C – Colorado Rockies (72% owned)
Diaz has been getting a number of starts this season due to his impressive plate appearances. He has a batting average of .300 and only has 24 strikeouts. Look for him to keep getting starts and maintain his spot in the starting lineup as he is able to keep up the consistency of his appearances at the plate.
Johan Oviedo – P – Pittsburgh Pirates (77% owned)
Oviedo has been in total control of his dominant stuff early on in the season. Using his lethal combination of pitches he has been racking up strikeouts, with a great batting average against. Expect him to give your team a boost with his ability to strike up hitters at an alarming rate, while keeping the home runs at a minimal rate.
Mason Miller – P – Oakland Athletics (47% Owned)
Recent call-up Mason Miller was quite a sight to see in his big league debut. The hard-throwing right-hander struck out 5 cubs in 4 innings of work. While he does like to combine his speed pitches with his off-speed stuff, look for him to get more comfortable on the mound as the season progresses. However, due to lack of offensive talent on the A’s, wins will be hard to come even with decent outings with a number of strikeouts.
Taylor Walls – IF – Tampa Bay Rays (58% Owned)
The versatile infielder can line up anywhere in the middle and corner infield. More importantly, he can hit from either side of the plate. He currently has an average of .350 with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs. His versatility in the infield as well as his ability to hit from either side of the plate makes him a must-play considering he is also playing for the hottest team currently in baseball.

Jose Alvarado, P, Philadelphia Phillies (80% owned)
If you are looking for relief help, look no further than Jose Alvarado. More importantly, he is the best reliever the Phillies have and has been outstanding for them out of the pen. This season he has 18 strikeouts and no walks, as he relies on great pitch location to record his outs. Look for him to retain his role as the teams closer due in large part to his dominant stuff.
Connor Joe - OF-IF - Pittsburgh Pirates – (35% owned)
With injuries hurting the Pirates, Connor Joe has found himself playing more often. More importantly, he has responded well to the increased playing time as he currently has a batting avg of .340. He can play at any of the corner infield positions while hitting 5th. If he is able to maintain his bat, and his power look for him to pad his stats even more by getting an increase in playing time.
