2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 11 Closer Tracker: Giovanny Gallegos, Liam Hendrick, More
Welcome to the Week 11 Closer Tracker update! There’s been a lot of closer (and set-up man) turnover this week, so let’s dive in!
If you're new to this article, here's a quick primer (if not, skip down to the Closer Tracker and Top Takeaways!):
In the chart below, I’ve created a Closer Tracker that will hopefully stay ahead of the closer curve. I’m going to update this every Friday for the rest of the season, so please feel free to send feedback if there’s anything you’d like to see.
The Closer Tracker is organized in three ways:
- In the left column, you’ll find my closer power rankings. This order is based on a mix of current statistics weighted (in my mind) with how I think these players will perform over the rest of the season.
- In the third column, you’ll see my best attempt at quantifying how stable a closer’s job is. Or said another way, how closely do you have to pay attention to this situation?
- In the right column, you’ll find the player who looks to be next in line. If you see SHAKY in the third column, you should probably grab the player next in line off the waiver wire.
Lastly, keep scrolling all the way to the bottom for my top takeaways. I promise this isn’t a marketing trick – I just don’t want to spoil the Closer Tracker.

Top Week 11 Closer Takeaways:
- Ryan Helsley is going to miss some time with a forearm injury. Giovanni Gallegos is a strong addition. While the team is saying Helsley won't miss much time, forearm injuries always worry me so Gallegos might be an impact add.
- Liam Hendriks just got put on the injured list for the White Sox so it looks like Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly will compete for saves while Hendriks is out.
- A.J. Puk is back and looks to be the Marlins' closer again.
- Jason Adam has been great since taking over for an injured Pete Fairbanks, but it looks like Fairbanks will be back soon. Time to start shopping Adam if you can (and grab Fairbanks if he's available).
- Jose Alvardo is back for the Phillies. He'll likely split save opportunities with Craig Kimbrel, but I'd rather have Alvarado on my fantasy team.
- Andres Munoz is back for the Mariners. I think Paul Sewald will continue to hold down the job there, but it's something to keep an eye on.
- Clay Holmes looks to be close to reclaiming the Yankees' closer spot, so that committee might be close to the end.
- Scott McGough is in a similar spot and may be emerging from the Diamondbacks' committee.
- Trevor May is still the guy for the A's, but Sam Long is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.
