Striking Gold in Silver & Black: Former Niners QB Jimmy G Is Heading To Las Vegas Raiders
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly reached an agreement. The contract includes $34 million guaranteed and could net Garoppolo $67.5 million over the next three years. Garoppolo has decided to reunite with Josh McDaniels, as the two enjoyed success during their time in New England.
On the other hand, Garoppolo bids farewell to San Francisco. A city where he spent six seasons with the 49ers, but only appeared in 11 games in 2022 due to a broken foot that shortened his season. He had 2,437 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions while leading the Niners to a 7-3 record in games he started. The 31-year-old led the 49ers to a 13-3 record and a Super Bowl appearance in 2019, but lacked consistency the following season, prompting the team to name Trey Lance as their starter. However, Garoppolo was forced into action in Week 2 after Lance suffered a season-ending injury.

Fantasy Outlook Of Jimmy G Deal
Garoppolo has never been afraid of playing in an extremely competitive division. He had some tough battles in the NFC West with Russel Wilson. Now by joining the Raiders and having to play the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and the Los Angeles Chargers, Garoppolo will have to play at a high-level week in and week out to out-perform Mahomes, Hebert, and Wilson.
More importantly, Garoppolo will have to stay healthy to remain competitive in an extremely competitive division. When healthy, he can be quite dominant as even in an injury-shortened season he finished with a QB rating of over 100.
While he won't have dominant playmakers such as Deebo Samuel or George Kittle at his disposal, he will have to quickly establish chemistry with Davante Adams and Darren Waller. Experts are predicting Josh McDaniels to prepare a game script that will tailor to a yards-after-catch concept, which would allow Adams to line up in the slot as well. If they are able to derive a strong game plan that would allow Garoppolo to play to his strengths, while getting the most out of Adams and Waller, then the entire Las Vegas Raiders stock could see a steady rise. Josh Jacobs will also continue to serve a large role in this offense out of the backfield. Things could be looking up for the Raiders in 2023.
