Week 3 Fantasy Football Streaming Options: C.J. Stroud, Rashid Shaheed, and More!
While we're still a few weeks away from bye weeks, everyone has at least one hole in their fantasy football roster due to injuries (maybe you drafted Nick Chubb), underperformance (Joe Burrow, anyone?), or just bad drafting (not you, of course). However, holes can be filled and there are almost always good streaming options. It’s just a matter of finding them.
I'll be here every week trying to unearth the best streaming options that you can likely find on waivers and plug into your starting lineup for that week. There are some good ones out there for Week 3, so let's dig in!

Quarterback
C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
Stroud looks like he might be the better of the two rookie quarterbacks as Bryce Young has struggled (and is now injured) out of the gate. Stroud fought through an injury last week and still put up over 300 passing yards against the Colts. The Jaguars present a bit more resistance than the Colts, but they're not exactly the '85 Bears defense either. As Stroud continues to develop a rapport with emerging receivers like Nico Collins and Tank Dell, we might want to get a little more comfortable with him as a week-to-week streaming option.
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
I'll never tell you that Carr is an elite quarterback, but he had multiple weekly top-10 finishes last year and arguably has a better receiver room in New Orleans than he did in Oakland. While the touchdowns haven't been there for him this year, Carr threw for over 300 yards in Week 1 and has the most deep ball attempts in the league this year. With the emergence of Chris Olave as an elite receiver, Michael Thomas underneath, and Rashid Shaheed looking like a solid deep threat, Carr has an opportunity to beat Green Bay for a few big plays this week.

Running Back
Tony Jones Jr., New Orleans Saints
With Alvin Kamara a week away from returning from suspension and Jamaal Wiliams hobbled, it looks like Jones will get a solid workload this weekend. And if Kendre Miller sits, Jones could potentially see 20-plus touches. Keep an eye on this situation this week as Jones could get thrust into a situation where he has the potential to be a bellcow back against the Packers. That doesn't always translate into a fantasy payoff, but sometimes it does -- and Jones could finish as an RB1 this week if Miller does sit.
Craig Reynolds, Detroit Lions
Detroit seemingly can't catch a break with running back injuries, but Reynolds is always there to help when the Lions need a relief pitcher running back. With David Montgomery looking like he'll sit (though that's not definite), Reynolds could jump into the Lions offense and see 10-12 (maybe more) carries. Jahmyr Gibbs will likely see an uptick in touches, but the Lions haven't looked like they're ready to make him a bellcow back so Reynolds should get some opportunities to run the ball. He doesn't have a huge upside, but something like 47 rushing yards and a touchdown is a very realistic possibility for Reynolds if Montgomery doesn't play.

Wide Receiver
Rashid Shaheed, New Orleans Saints
I apparently like all the Saints streamers... Shaheed looked great during the preseason and he's starting to carry some of those flashes into the regular season. He's still behind Chris Olave and Michael Thomas, but Shaheed is playing his way into being Derek Carr's best deep threat. He's seen 10 targets in two games and has put together nine catches for 152 receiving yards and a touchdown with his opportunities. He's probably more of a flex play or WR3 than anything, but Shaheed is a great streamer against a Packers defense that has shown the propensity to give up deep balls.
Tank Dell, Houston Texans
Nico Collins is the best play if you're looking at a Texans receiver, but I think he's too obvious to cover in a streaming article so we'll move to the rookie out of Houston. Dell played almost 80 percent of the Texans' offensive snaps last week and led the team in target share with 10 targets (that turned into seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown). That was Dell's first NFL start and he'll look to continue the momentum into this week's matchup against Jacksonville. Dell could, again, lead the Texans in targets and is set up nicely as a flex/WR3 this wek.

Tight End
Kylen Granson, Indianapolis Colts
There are a good 20-25 viable fantasy tight ends out there, and Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, and T.J. Hockenson might be the only ones who belong on a separate tier than the rest (with Kelce in his own mini-tier). Now, I'm not saying Granson is a good as George Kittle or anything like that, but I'm not sure there' s a GIANT step down from Darren Waller or Dallas Goedert to Kylen Granson. It's there, but it may only average out to 3-4 fantasy points per week on the season. Granson has seen almost 15 percent of the Colts' targets and has put up seven catches for 55 yards and a touchdown (on 10 targets) through two games. Those aren't matchup-winning numbers, but I'll happily take eight or nine fantasy points from a tight end streamer.
Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Otton showed flashes of potential in connecting with Tom Brady last season and he's starting to carryover that success into 2023. With Baker Mayfield now under center, Otton has put up eight catches for 60 yards on nine targets through two games. While that's not exactly what you're looking for on a weekly basis, Otten has seen about 15% of the Bucs' targets and adding a touchdown to that statline in the previous sentence makes Otton a much hotter waiver add this week. I'm not saying he's bound to get a touchdown or anything like that, but Otton's non-touchdown numbers are just as good as any tight end in the 10-20 range of tight end rankings this week (most rankings have him in the 20-25 range). He's also set up nicely against an Eagles defense that has given up production to opposing tight ends this year (Hunter Henry in Week 1 and T.J. Hockenson in Week 2).
