Breece Hall Trade Value | Should You Trade Hall for Puka Nacua? Other Fantasy Trades to Consider
We’re nearing the midway point of the fantasy football regular season, and fantasy owners are trying to strengthen their rosters for the stretch run and playoff push.
FantasySP’s Trade Analyzer tool not only helps you determine if your trade proposals are fair, but also lists some of the top trending trades. One of the hot names in the current trending decisions is New York Jets’ Breece Hall.
The young running back is coming off his best game of the season and fantasy owners are trying to cash in on his higher stock. I’ll put myself in their shoes. The top trending decision is whether a Hall trade for Los Angeles Rams’ Puka Nacua is an even one. We’ll discuss that deal in depth.
Have Hall and Nacua on your team, or are you not interested in Nacua? I’ll also take a look at some of the other trending decisions involving Hall to see if one of those players is more appealing to you. If none of those options work, we’ll look into the FSP player ratings and try to find a player near Hall’s value that you could target instead. Let’s dive in.

Trending Trade: Breece Hall for Puka Nacua
Hall’s overall season numbers aren’t all that impressive, with just 387 rushing yards and one touchdown to his name. He’s carried the ball 54 times in total, including eight red zone looks.
Most of those numbers came in week 5 against a poor Denver Broncos defense. Hall rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown on 22 attempts. He got seven red zone carries in the contest and played 34 snaps in total. Hall caught all three of his targets for 17 yards.
The big game came just days after Jets coach Robert Saleh said the team was no longer going to be limiting Hall’s workload.
The big game was a great sight for those that drafted Hall, but after putting up those numbers against the lackluster Broncos, owners want to sell high.
Going after Nacua makes a lot of sense, as he’s been one of the best wide receivers in the game so far, but will have to deal with Cooper Kupp in the offense now.
For the season, Nacua has 46 receptions on 63 targets, going for 572 yards and two touchdowns. He leads the league in targets and catches and trails only Tyreek Hill in yards.
Many fantasy owners doubted that Nacua could still produce with Kupp back in the lineup, but he did in week 5. Kupp led the team in receptions (8), targets (12) and yards (118), but Nacua made up for his lower numbers with a touchdown. Nacua finished with a strong 71 yards on seven grabs and 11 targets.
It turns out that Nacua and Kupp can coexist, and that Tutu Atwell is the guy who saw his production fall off. Atwell had just 9 yards and a touchdown on two catches and five total targets.
Maybe owners don’t think Nacua’s production alongside Kupp is sustainable in the long run, but I’m not part of that group. Nacua played the most snaps of any pass catcher on the team in week 5. Even if Kupp leads the way in snaps, the Rams aren’t suddenly going to take Nacua off the field. His production is simply too valuable to the team, so it will do whatever it takes to keep both guys happy and the offense rolling.
It’s definitely more difficult to find productive fantasy running backs than wide receivers, so even though Nacua’s player rating is a tough higher than Hall, that helps even this trade out.
Looking at both players for the rest of the season, I like Nacua’s chances of outsourcing Hall. It all comes down to the offenses they are in. Nacua is in a high-flying Rams’ offense that’s attempted the second-most passes in the league so far. The Jets’ offense wins by controlling the ball and running, but with Zach Wilson at quarterback, better defenses are going to stack the box to defend the run and make Wilson beat them.
Hall is still a special player and great fantasy asset, but I would rather have Nacua on my team. I think Hall can put up good numbers every week, but he won’t be going for nearly 200 total yards every week, so I look at week 5 as more of an outlier. Give me the more consistent player so far in Nacua, and I’ll find another way to fill the running back position.
Other Trades Involving Hall
Hall is a part of trending trade decisions currently with Jacksonville Jaguars’ Calvin Ridley, Miami Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle, New Orleans Saints' Chris Olave and New England Patriots’ Rhamondre Stevenson, so let’s briefly go over those deals.
Let’s start with Ridley, who has led the Jaguars pass catchers to this point of the season. He’s coming off a seven-catch, 122-yard performance against a talented Buffalo Bills’ defense and has season totals of 22 catches, 36 targets, 333 yards and two touchdowns. Ridley has 2 less receiving yards than teammate Christian Kirk and less catches and targets than tight end Evan Engram. We haven’t even mentioned Zay Jones, who is another receiver Ridley has to fight with for targets.
My point is probably becoming pretty clear: I’m not a fan of trading Hall for Ridley. Ridley will have his strong games, but there will be games where he’s outshined by a teammate or two. It’s the same case for Hall, so in this offer, I’d value the running back position a bit more and hold on to Hall.
Waddle is coming off a 10-target contest in week 5. He only turned that into 35 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. For the season, he’s played in four games and recorded 17 catches on 26 targets for 245 yards and a score. He’s the second receiving option behind Tyreek Hill, who is going to overshadow Waddle more often than not.
Waddle is a fantastic player, but again, I’m far more comfortable holding on to Hall in this deal. Any player on the Dolphins’ high-flying offense is appealing, but I’d value Hall’s position more here and go against our player ratings.
In the cases of not wanting to trade Hall for Ridley or Waddle, those suggestions should absolutely be altered if you are set at running back and lacking at receiver. I’m more looking at this as if my team is pretty balanced and you were just looking for the better player the rest of the season.
Let’s talk about Olave next. He got off to an extremely strong start, with 85+ yards in the first three games, but has just 16 yards across the last two weeks. He did score his first touchdown in week 5, so that’s one positive in a down time for Olave.
I think it was just a blip in what should be an overall great season for Olave. In week 4, quarterback Derek Carr was banged up, and that played a role in Olave’s final statline. The Saints crushed the Patriots in week 5, which helped contribute to another down week for Olave. He still got six and five targets the past couple weeks, he just wasn’t able to haul in many of the targets. I expect Olave to get back on track soon, and be a better fantasy asset than Hall the rest of the way, so I’d also make this deal.
The New England offense is simply a mess right now, and Stevenson’s numbers have reflected that so far. Stevenson has just 188 rushing yards and a touchdown on 68 carries. He’s added 87 receiving yards on 12 targets.
I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this one. I’ll simply say I’m trying to avoid Patriots’ offensive players at all costs and wouldn’t entertain this offer unless another player was offered on top of Stevenson.
Who Else Could You Get for Hall?
Hall is currently our 43rd-ranked player in our ratings, although his stock is still recovering from his slow start to the season.
Hall is currently listed near these running backs: Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Rachaad White, Carolina Panthers’ Miles Sanders, Dolphins’ Raheem Mostert and Rams’ Kyren Williams. I like Hall’s long-term outlook more than those guys.
Other non-running backs near Hall are: Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins, Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans and Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews. Those are all pretty even trades in my eyes going forward. I’d lean toward trading Hall in all of those potential deals.
