Players Who Will be Moved Before the NFL Trade Deadline: Derrick Henry, Davante Adams, Jameis Winston and More
The NFL Trade Deadline is today October 31 at 4 p.m. EST. These are the players who could be on the move that will impact your fantasy team.
Players on the Move at the Deadline
Quarterbacks
Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints
All year we talked about how the Minnesota Vikings could potentially end up trading Kirk Cousins at the deadline. They are right in the playoff mix and after losing Cousins to an Achilles injury for the season, and now they could be the team trading for a quarterback. It's funny how these things work out sometimes. Winston has the most upside of any quarterback that could be dealt at the deadline. A boom-or-bust quarterback generally isn't ideal, but if a desperate team is going all in then this is the guy to target.
Jacoby Brissett, Washington Commanders
Brissett is another guy who could be on the move. He's one of those guys that people often call, "one of the best backups in the league." It's Teddy Bridgewater territory. Unfortunately, just like Bridgewater, Brissett is a terrible starter. That won't stop a team that needs a legitimate backup to trade a mid-round draft pick to solidify the position. There is even an outside chance that a team like the Atlanta Falcons or New York Jets could target him in hopes that he could be an improvement over their starter and help make a playoff push.
Running Backs
Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans
Henry has been the center of potential trade rumors all year and it sounds like the favorites to land him are the Baltimore Ravens. It makes all the sense in the world. They are a legitimate Super Bowl contender with a need for a stud RB1. They lost JK Dobbins almost immediately and the rest of their backs are better suited for a complimentary role in an offense. If the Ravens believe he is the man that can put him over the top they need to go get him. He fits perfectly in Baltimore and still has enough juice left for one last run.
Miles Sanders, Carolina Panthers
Things simply haven't worked out for Sanders in Carolina. It turns out that maybe playing behind the best offensive line in football had something to do with his success in Philly. If he is dealt it would have to be to a team with a coach who is arrogant enough to believe Carolina is the issue and he can fix them. That's why if he is moved we are projecting him to go to the Los Angeles Rams. He fits the system and they are in dire need of running back help.
Rashaad Penny, Philadelphia Eagles
Penny has been essentially invisible in Philly this year and it seems inevitable that he finishes the year somewhere else. He has flashed enough in the past to garner attention on the market. The best fit for him would be landing with the Cleveland Browns. They have an elite defense and just need the offense to keep them afloat. We have seen Penny be a difference-maker in Seattle. If they can add a dynamic playmaker to their offense they have to do it. Jerome Ford, Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong are all backup-caliber backs. While Penny may be too, at least we've seen he has the upside to be more.
Wide Receivers
Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders
It sounded clear that Adams wouldn't be moved at the deadline yesterday. However, maybe, just maybe last night's debacle on Monday Night Football was enough to push the Raiders to trade him today. Adams is visibly frustrated and he hasn't been shy about talking about it, and the team is clearly going nowhere. It makes all the sense in the world for the Raiders to try to get a haul for him right now. Josh McDaniels also strikes us as a guy who isn't a huge fan of mouthy malcontent players even if they are right.
Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos
Jeudy is another guy who has been in the rumor mill all season as a guy who could end up getting moved at some point this season. The team that makes the most sense has to be the New England Patriots. They can add him and pair him with their Alabama quarterback for the rest of the season then lock him up and hope he becomes the wide receiver they have been searching for seemingly forever now. We know he has the talent, he just has to put it all together. Getting out of Denver could be the key. That offense has been a disaster throughout his entire tenure there and a fresh start may be just what he needs.
