Angel Martinez Placed on Injured List with Foot Fracture

Angel Martinez’s breakout campaign has come to a sudden halt after being placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left foot. The primary left fielder's injury is a massive blow to the first-place Guardians, who also lost key contributors Jose Ramirez and Chase DeLauter to the shelf. Martinez had been a spark plug at the top of the lineup, but fantasy managers must now prepare for an extended absence.

Prior to the injury, Martinez was enjoying a strong season, slugging 11 home runs and stealing nine bases over 66 games. Our models project a rest-of-season pace of 10 homers and seven steals with a .230 batting average upon his return. While his batting average won't anchor your team, his dual-threat ability is entirely real and warrants holding through this injury.

With Martinez sidelined, he will miss the remaining matchups against the Brewers and Astros this week. Do not expect any statistical contributions until he is activated, making him an easy decision to park on your bench or injured list. Verdict: Sit.
