5 Fantasy Baseball Players To Consider Dropping Right Now
Injuries, cold streaks and declining fantasy value have several notable names trending toward waiver wires.
We have looked at a lot of fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming options today (pitchers, hitters, weekly projections), but are now going to turn our attention to some possible drop candidates.
More droppable player data can be located on the waiver wire trends most dropped tab, which can be found on any fantasy baseball page here at FantasySP.

Vinnie Pasquantino - Kansas City Royals
Pasquantino has been let go in a lot of leagues of late, and currently sits at just 64% rostered. A trip to the injured list isn't helping his cause, but he wasn't producing a ton at the plate before that anyways.
Pasquantino has a hamate bone fracture in his right hand that will keep him out roughly 4-6 weeks. That's a long stretch of play, so he definitely is a drop candidate.
In 68 games and across 291 plate appearances this season, Pasquantino has a .224 average and .309 on-base percentage - he has a career .260 average and .327 OBP, so he's disappointed most of this season. He has 57 total hits, including 10 doubles, six homers and two triples, plus has 32 RBIs, 28 runs scored, three stolen bases, 32 walks and 51 strikeouts.
Pasquantino is droppable in standard leagues where you don't have unlimited IR spots. He could also be let go in some deeper leagues, especially if you are out of roster/IR spots. Be watching for his return and ready to add him back, but he'll need to produce more at the plate then to work back into most fantasy leagues again.
Bryce Elder - Atlanta Braves
Elder is owned in about 94% of leagues at this moment. He's trending down after a bad start on Sunday though.
Elder was rocked for six runs on 10 hits and two walks over just four innings against the lowly Mets on Sunday. He struck out two batters along the way.
He has been a pretty good fantasy asset this season, and sits with a 5-4 record and 3.15 earned run average over 15 appearances overall. Elder has now allowed 35 runs (31 earned) on 74 hits and 27 walks, while striking out 73 batters.
Elder was due to regress after a hot start to the season, and that's happened a bit over his past four starts - he's allowed 17 runs in that span. Better days could be ahead, but with inconsistent results of late, I like Elder more as a standard league streaming option.
That makes him droppable today. You could look to trade him before outright dropping him, but don't expect a very good return anymore.
Spencer Steer - Cincinnati Reds
Steer is rostered in 60% of leagues right now. He was closer to 70% on June 9, but has been let go most days since.
Steer has no hits over his past three games, although he has walked twice and scored a run still. He has two strikeouts in that span.
He has a .251 average and .333 OBP on the season, which could be the second-best marks of his career, and best since 2023. Steer has 12 doubles and 10 homers among his 59 total knocks, plus 26 RBIs, 41 runs scored, three stolen bases, 27 walks and 56 strikeouts.
Steer could be eligible at several spots, which adds fantasy value to his name, and makes it tougher to drop him. If he's not producing at the plate though, Steer is droppable. I like him best in deeper leagues, and only a standard league option when he's hitting better.
Will Warren - New York Yankees
Warren is owned in about 95% of leagues, but some shorter starts of late has him being let go in some fantasy leagues.
He has only allowed five runs over his past two starts, but that's across just 8 1/3 combined innings. If Warren cannot get to five innings, that saps away a lot of his fantasy value.
Warren is 7-1 with a 3.47 ERA over 14 appearances this season, so it's also tough to drop him today. He's given up 36 runs (28 earned) on 70 hits and 24 walks, while also striking out 76 batters over 72 2/3 innings.
Warren should have better fantasy outings ahead, but he's looking like a better standard league streaming option right now. Drop him if you see a can't-miss waiver wire option out there, or maybe try to trade Warren away while his value is still pretty high. Be ready to stream him again though, as he's pitched pretty well most of the season.
Ezequiel Duran - Texas Rangers
Duran is rostered in about 59% of leagues at this time. He was near 70% back on June 3, so he's dropped off over 10% since then.
He has just one hit over his past three games, and he's also racked up eight strikeouts in that stretch. Over his past five games, he has four hits, but 11 strikeouts.
Duran has a .281 average and .332 OBP over 63 games and 230 plate appearances this season. Those marks would be career highs, so some are expecting regression, and it could have already started.
He has 15 doubles, four homers and two triples among his 59 total knocks, plus 35 RBIs, 29 runs scored and five stolen bases. Duran has walked 16 times, while striking out 59 times.
He can also play several positions, so it's tougher to drop Duran. He's a better deep-league asset, and only is worth streaming in standard leagues while his bat is hot. Be watching his stats closely so you can utilize him when it makes the most sense.
